Joe Mitch Collins, 59, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, with his wife and children by his side. Joe was born May 31, 1944, in Fayetteville, Ark. He was a truck driver for 40 years. Joe was a member of Buffalo Creek Baptist Church of Tiff City. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed going to the children's homes of Miami, Okla. He loved seeing God's world from a motorcycle with his wife Nelda. He is survived by his wife Nelda, three daughters - Kristi Reemer of Oklahoma, Tina Lowe and husband Bradley of Oklahoma, Lori Remer of Oklahoma, one son - John Collins and wife Myra of Arkansas, his mother - Mary Ballard of Anderson, three brothers and one sister, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, maternal and paternal grandparents. He was so loved by his family and many friends. He will be missed so much by all who knew him. Funeral services for Joe Collins were at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Anderson, Mo. Bro. Mick Evans and Bro. Dale Wilson officiated. Burial was in the Mineral Springs Cemetery in West Fork, Ark. Pallbearers were Ed Hults, Don Hopper, Tommy Layer, Mike Hall, Chet Smith and Bob Floriano. Grandchildren Justin Collins, Jeremy Collins, Ike Remmer and Utah Remmer were honorary pallbearers. Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, from noon until 8 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Feb. 16, 1936 - Feb. 4, 2004
Ethel Faye Durbin, 67, of Anderson, Mo., died at 5:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Mo., after an illness. Mrs. Durbin was born on Feb. 18, 1936, in Turkey Ford Community, Okla. She had lived in Anderson, Mo., most of her life. She was a cafeteria cook at the high school in Anderson, Mo., at Hudson Foods in Noel, Mo., and at church camp. She was a member of the Trinity Pentecostal Church at Goodman, Mo. She loved teaching Sunday school before losing her eyesight. She married Ralph Durbin on June 28, 1958 in Yakima, Wash. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Kevin Durbin of Anderson, Mo.; two daughters, Janice Durbin of Anderson, Mo., and Norma Farmer of Pineville, Mo.; a brother, Clayton Burtrum of North Carolina; two sisters, Kathern Vickers of Joplin, Mo., and Vinita Carey of Oronogo, Mo.; five grandchildren, Tony McReynolds, Katie Baker, Desarae Farmer, Cameron Farmer and Sierra Farmer. Funeral services for Ethel Faye Durbin were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The Rev. Herman Jolly officiated. Burial was in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Mo. Visitation was on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral in Anderson, Mo. The family received friends from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Wilburn Charles "Shorty" Nance

Wilburn Charles "Shorty" Nance, 70, of Sallisaw was born Nov. 24, 1933, at Lookeba, Okla., to Wilson and Blance Edna Carter Nance. He died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, in Sallisaw, Okla. He was a laborer. He is survived by: four daughters, Elsie Nester of Kansas, Angela Massey and husband, Milton, of Marble City, Okla., Amy Rider and husband Larry Trent, of Marble City, Okla., and Abby Baber of Sallisaw, Okla.; one sister, Geraldine Williams Clark and husband, Ted, of Arizona; four nephews and one niece; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were: his parents; wife, Shirley Nance; a brother, Douglas Nance; and two sisters, Mildred May Freestone and Lucille Scott Ramsey. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at the Belfonte Baptist Church with the Rev. Rickey Osburne officiating. Burial was in Belfonte Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw. Pallbearers were Milton Massey, Trent Rider, Larry Hines, Cliff Baber, Bo Summers and Robert Johnston.

Inez Mary Levier, 82, of Pineville, Mo., died at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at McDonald County Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Anderson, Mo., after an illness. Inez Levier was born on March 20, 1921, in Gypsium, Kan., to the late Alphansus and Grace (Akers) Haley. She has lived here for two years, coming from Manhattan, Kan., to be closer to her son. She was a member of the Catholic church in Manhattan, Kan. She formerly worked as a dietitian at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Melvin Johnson, Lee Raymond Tilden, Tommy Webb and Joe Levier. She was also preceded in death by two children, a daughter, Shirley Engles and a son, Douglas Lee Tilden a twin of Delor Tilden, a brother Dale Haley and a sister Arlene Lambden. Inez Levier is survived by one son Delor Tilden and his wife, Judy, of Pineville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother Arthur Haley of Camden, Kan., and one sister, Mercedes Gifford of San Diego, Calif. Funeral services for Inez Levier were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Burial was in the Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, Mo. Visitation was on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, from 10 a.m. until service time at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo.

John Walter Barger
Feb. 24, 1918 - Jan. 28, 2004
John Walter Barger, 85, formerly of Ginger Blue, passed from this earth on Jan. 28, 2004. He had lived in Parkville, Mo., for several years, progressively failing in health. He was born in Huntsville, Mo., to Walter Wade Barger and Grace Beatrice Summerfield on Feb. 24, 1918. He married Lois May Creed on May 26, 1939; they divorced in 1985. He served in the Naval Reserve in World War II as a radio technician. He received his Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 1951 from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He then worked for duPont de Nemours and Company in Virginia, from 1951-1957, as a research chemist in textile fibers. He and his family then moved to Kansas City, where he worked as assistant director of the chemistry division for Midwest Research Institute. He supervised research and development programs for the Defense and State Departments, Space Agencies, and the Department of Agriculture. In 1968, he relocated and built a home in the Pittsburg, Mo., area north of Bolivar. He was a professor and chairman of the chemistry department at Southwest Baptist College until 1972. He then moved to Ginger Blue and built another home. He taught mathematics and science at McDonald County High School from 1972 to 1976. In partial retirement, he worked as an inspector for several area mobile home manufacturers. He appeared in the 9th edition of American Men of Science, the 1970-71 edition of Personalities of the West and Midwest, and the 1974-75 edition of Who's Who in the Midwest. He is survived by a sister, Rachel Keller of Moberly, Mo.; three daughters, Valda Pancoast of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Renee Goddijn of Parkville, Mo., and Beth Smith of Joplin, Mo.; one nephew, Phillip Keller; four grandchildren, Inga and Greta Goddijn of Chicago,Ill., Ted Pancoast of Kettle Falls, Wash., and Dori Canelas, of Raleigh, N.C., and two great-grandchildren also survive him. He was preceded in death by a son, John Barger, Jr., and a sister, Thelma Nadene Barger. He was an intellectual man, a quick-witted thinker with a bountiful sense of humor. In his early years, he was a photographer of such places as Yellowstone National Park as well as his home and family. In later years, hunting and fishing became his hobbies. He had a reverence for wildlife and delighted in feeding critters, feathered or furred, that would visit his home in Ginger Blue. He was very fond of his cats. His heart of gold radiated out to all who knew him. Graveside services were held, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly, Mo., on Jan. 31. Contributions may be made to your local Humane Society, or McDonald County High School.

Letha Bingham
Oct. 28, 1916 - Feb. 5, 2004
Letha Bingham, age 87, died at 10:14 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, in her home near Jay, Okla. She was born Oct. 28, 1916, at Springdale, Ark. She was a homemaker and a nursing aid/cook at Guinn Nursing Home for many years. She married Richard Bingham on Dec. 23, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1988. Also preceding her in death were two grandson and three great-grandchildren. Surviving are five sons, Jim, Truman, Larry, Mack and Dan Bingham all of Jay, Okla.; six daughters, Gladys Bratton and Edna Gibe, both of Jay, Okla., Hazel Pramberg in Southwest City, Mo., Wilma Vaughn in Spavinaw, Okla., Ilene Browers of Springdale, Ark., and Dorothy Key in Anderson, Mo.; two brothers, Troy B. Davis in Spavinaw and Robert Davis in Roseburg, Ore.; one sister, Evelyn Renfro in Bartlesville, Okla.; 36 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, in the Southside Church of Christ with Steve Stenzel officiating. The interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. The grandsons served as pallbearers. There was a visitation at 6 p.m. Monday. The services were under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Okla.

Bea Robins
Jan. 16, 1921 - Feb. 8, 2004
Bernadine June Robins, 83, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Anderson, Mo., died at 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Echo Hills Health Care in Omaha, Neb., after an illness. Bea Robins was born on Jan. 16, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo., to the late John William and Lillie Edna (Glass) Mabin. She was a homemaker. She had lived in Omaha, Neb., to be near her son, but had lived most of her life in Anderson, Mo. She attended the Anderson Full Gospel Church. She married Fred Lester Robins on Nov. 15, 1938, in Alliance, Neb. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1988. Surviving are three sons, Fred Robins, Jr., of the state of N.J., Kenneth Robins of Omaha, Neb. and Minales Robins of Burlington, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Bea Robins will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Pastor Cecil Hall will officiate. Burial will be in the Ruddick Cemetery at Garfield, Ark. Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, from 10 a.m. until service time at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo.

Joyce Forbes

Joyce Marie Forbes, 52, of Rocky Comfort, Mo., died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at 10:10 a.m. at Freeman-Neosho Hospital in Neosho, Mo., after a sudden illness. Joyce Marie Forbes was born Feb. 4, 1952, in Diaz, Ark., to the late James and Dollie (Elledge) Mooring. She had lived in the Rocky Comfort area since 1997 coming from Yakima, Wash. She attended Living Word Mission and Union Chapel. Mrs. Forbes worked for the McDonald County Prosecuting Attorney's Office in Pineville, Mo. She formerly worked for 17 years for the Department of Agriculture in the state of Washington. She married Rex Forbes July 26, 1990, in Coeur d Alene, Idaho. Additional survivors include two sons, Dennis Forbes and wife Minday, and their two children, Jacob and Joelle, of Selah, Wash.; one step-son, Terry Waggoner of Yakima, Wash.; two brothers, James Mooring Jr. of Henning, Tenn., and Larry Mooring of Maynard, Ark.; two sisters, Marilyn Harris of Henning, Tenn., and Nina Buettenmuller of Blytheville, Ark., and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Joyce Forbes were Friday, March 26, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Union Cemetery in Stella, Mo. The Rev. Frank Arnall officiated. Visitation for Joyce Forbes was Thursday, March 25, 2004, from noon until 8 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. Archie Thomas Edwards, III
July 30, 1962 - March 15, 2004
Archie Thomas Edwards, III, affectionately known as Tom Edwards, surrendered his life on March 15, 2004, in San Francisco, Calif. He was born at Brooke General Hospital, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, on July 30, 1962. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrna Lee Marris Edwards who passed to Heaven June 10, 1982. He is survived by his father, Archie T. Edwards, Jr., also known as Tom, his stepmother, Betty Jean Edwards, both of Bentonville, Ark.; his sister, Jennifer Cheramie, her husband, Mark, and their daughter, Renee of Dallas, Texas; his aunt, Carolyn Moody and her husband, Carlton; his uncle, Bob Edwards and his wife, Debbie; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom graduated from McDonald County High School in 1980, attended Crowder College, Missouri Southern State University and graduated from Baylor University with a 4.0 GPA in his chosen major, Latin. He worked at various occupations in Austin and Houston, Texas, Boston, Mass., and San Francisco, Calif. Tom was born with a life-threatening birth defect and was operated the first time at the age of 13 hours - his emotional and physical problems plagued him all his life. For the first time in almost 42 years, he is at peace and with Jesus and his mother in Heaven. He attended an Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. His earthly body was cremated and while there will be no burial, there was a memorial service at the First Baptist Church, 409 Johnson, Lowell, Ark., at 10 a.m. on the morning of March 29, 2004, conducted by Pastor Gary Thomas and the Rev. Don Willis.

Elmer McGarrah
Sept. 15, 1918 - March 29, 2004
Elmer McGarrah, 85, passed away Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Granby House Nursing Home after a short illness. He was born Sept. 15, 1918, in Wedington, Ark., to Jesse Randolph and Nellie (Howes) McGarrah. Elmer married Mae (Flaxbeard) McGarrah Dec. 4, 1937, in Neosho. She preceded him in death in 2002. They lived in the Wheaton area for 37 years coming from California. Elmer was a member of the Carpenter's Union for 55 years and was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mae; one son, James, and one daughter, Betty McGarrah and a brother, Alva McGarrah. He is survived by one son, Larry McGarrah of Farmington, Ark.; two daughters, Marlene Gunter and Marie Paul, both of Wheaton, Mo.; two brothers, Joseph McGarrah of Stella and Virgil McGarrah of Joplin, Mo.; three sisters, Hazel Lawson of Stella, Mo.; Martha Plumlee of Wheaton, Mo., and Gladys Carlin of Rocky Comfort, Mo.; 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, at the Wheaton Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Stella with visitation from 6 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Vergie Spencer
Aug. 20, 1930 - May 17, 2004
Vergie Ruth Forsyth Spencer, age 73 of Joplin, passed away at 11:59 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a long illness. Born August 20, 1930 in Anderson, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lee Forsyth and Pearl Watson Forsyth. She moved to Joplin in 1951 from Anderson. A homemaker most of her life, she also worked for Stanley Products, demonstrated Coca-Cola in area grocery stores and was a member of the Southern Bells. On September 2, 1951, she married Ernest Spencer at Harrison, Ark. He survives. Additional survivors include a son, Ernest Spencer Jr. of Carthage; three daughters, Kathleen Caywood and husband David, Janet Bettis and husband Butch, Barbara Carr and husband Bryan, all of Joplin; a brother, Hilton Forsyth and wife Judy of Lone Oak, Texas; a sister, Hazel Greenslade of Carl Junction; 11 grandchildren; 5 stepgrandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 6 great-stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Bob Wilson, Frances and Gene Drake officiated. Interment followed at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Richard Russell, John Spencer, Joe Spencer, David Brien, Joe Kennedy and David W. Caywood served as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society.

Roy Sherman Reed, 54, of Anderson, Mo., died on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at 3:35 p.m. as the result of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 90 in McDonald County, Mo. Roy Reed was born on April 13, 1950, in Anderson, Mo., to the late Presley Sherman and Ruby Lucille (Elliot) Reed. He had lived all of his life in the Anderson, Mo., area. He was a member of the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City, Mo. He had been a McDonald County Employee for about eight years. Roy Reed is survived by one daughter, Misty Hargis of Joplin, Mo., one brother, Joe Reed of Claremoore, Okla., and seven grandchildren. Funeral services for Roy Reed were held on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City, Mo. Pastor Mike Evans officiated. Burial will be held in the Anderson Cemetery in Anderson, Mo. Visitation was held on Friday, May 21, 2004 from noon until 8 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The family received friends at the funeral home from 7 until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given for the college fund for his grandchildren. Contributions should be made to the Hargis-Starchman College Fund in care of the funeral home.

Rocky Comfort, Mo. - Richard L. McClellan, 49, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at his home. Richard was born April, 27, 1955, at Cassvile, Mo., to Hugh Carson and Clona Dell (Brazell) McClellan. He had lived most of his life in the Rocky Comfort area. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, Clona; two sons, Bradley Allen McClellan of Jefferson City, Mo., and Richard Lee, Jr. Chip McClellan of Neosho, Mo., along with one sister, Connie Christen of Monett and one grandchild. He had worked as a drywaller in the construction business until he became disabled. Services were Monday, May 24, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Wheaton Funeral Home in Wheaton, Mo., with visitation preceding the services at 1 p.m. until service time. The Rev. Duane Barnett officiated. Burial was held at Union Cemetery in Stella, Mo.

Kathleen Browning

Kathleen Browning, 90, of Noel, Mo., died on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 11:40 p.m. at Gravette Medical Center in Gravette, Ark., after an illness. Kathleen Browning was born on Dec. 29, 1913, in Noel, Mo., to the late Charles Arthur and Mattie Ellen (Donaghue) Browning. She had lived most of her life in Noel, Mo. She was a member of the Noel United Methodist Church. She was an owner, an operator, manager of the Bluff Dwellers Cavern in Noel for many years. Kathleen Browning is survived by one brother, Forest Browning of Noel, Mo., two sisters, Marta Lou Browning of Anderson, Mo., and Reita Bunch of Noel, Mo. Cremation was done by the Bella Vista Crematory in Bella Vista, Ark. A memorial service for Kathleen Browning was held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 4 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo. The Rev. David Howlett officiated. The cremains are to be buried at a later date in the Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, Ark.

Iris W. Ramsey

Iris W. Ramsey, 89, of Noel, Mo., died on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at 9 p.m. at Gravette Medical Center in Gravette, Ark., after an illness. Iris Ramsey was born on April 16, 1915, to the late Floyd and Nellie Pearl (Alexander) Woods in the Liberty Community of McDonald County, Mo. She lived in the Southwest City/Noel areas most of her life. She was a homemaker, farm wife and U.S.D.A. Poultry Inspector. She was a charter member of the Southwest City American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She married Harry Benjaman Ramsey on April 22, 1941, at Anderson, Mo. He died on July 28, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Jim Woods and Ted Woods, and one sister, Fern Mitchell. Iris Ramsey is survived by one daughter, Jean Ann Sovereign and husband Mark of Neosho, Mo., one brother, Stewart Woods of Grants Pass, Or., two sisters, her twin Ivy Price of Goodman, Mo., and Violet Schepis of Garden City, N.Y., two grandchildren, Scott Wylie and wife Jill Gengelbach-Wylie of Orlando, Fl., Lily Soveriegn of Springdale, Ark.,and several nephews and neices. Betty Sharon Martin, 61, of Anderson, Mo., died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at 4:22 p.m. at Freeman-Neosho Hospital in Neosho, Mo., after an illness. Betty Martin was born April 4, 1943, in Jane, Mo., to the late Luther Lewis and Marjorie (Jones) Lewis. She was a lifelong resident of McDonald County. She was a homemaker. She married J.L. Martin Feb. 17, 1959, in Miami, Okla. He survives of the home in Anderson, Mo. Additional survivors include one son Jerry L. Martin and wife, Patricia of Southwest City, Mo., and their children, Lindsey Jo Martin and Anthony Hall; one daughter, Kelly D. Griffith and husband Rocky of St. James, Mo., and their children, Megan, Kolgy and Reagan; her mother Marjorie Lewis of Pineville, Mo.; three brothers, Jerry Lewis of Raymore, Mo., James David Lewis of Carthage, Mo., Dennis Lewis of Garfield, Ark.; two sisters, Norma Gardner of Pineville, Mo., Donna Peck of Anderson, Mo. He was a lifelong McDonald County resident. He graduated from McDonald County High School in 1997 where he was active in FFA. He was a regional champion bull rider during high school. He graduated from Franklin Tech in Joplin in 1998. He was currently working for Allstate Tanks of Grove in the Houston, Texas, area. Robert Nunley, Jr., is survived by two sons, Colby Nunley of Stella, Mo., Jonathan Nunley; his mother, Kim Cooper and stepfather Ray of Anderson, Mo.; his father Robert Nunley, Sr., and stepmother Kelly of Seneca, Mo.; two brothers, Jacob Nunley and Travis Nunley, both of Anderson, Mo.; two sisters, Alison Nelson and Desa Cooper, both of Anderson, Mo.; four stepsisters, Jennifer Mitchell of Joplin, Mo., Jamie McAllister of Neosho, Mo., Kristy Smith of Joplin, Mo., and Tammy Cooper of Neosho, Mo.; one stepbrother, Tyler Yates of Seneca, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Bob and Nancy Robertson of Anderson, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Bob and Joan Nunley of Anderson, Mo.; maternal great-grandparents, Rupert and Shirley Green of Miami, Okla. Darrell Gene Wallis, 70, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Anderson, Mo., died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at his home in Spokane, Wash., after a sudden illness. Darrell Wallis was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Anderson, Mo. He attended school in Anderson, Northeastern A&M College in Miami, Okla., and one semester at Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. He then moved to California and then to Spokane, Wash., where he has lived most of his life. Darrell Wallis is survived by his mother, Pearl Wallis of Anderson, Mo.; one brother, Dale Wallis of Woodbridge, Va. He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Wallis and one brother, Robert Wallis. Graveside services for Darrell Wallis was at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2004, at the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Mo. The Rev. Paul Wilson officiated. Virginia King Long
Sept. 27, 1914 - June 23, 2004
Virginia King Long passed away June 23, 2004, in Clinton, Tenn. Virginia King was born Sept. 27, 1914, to Lois Prater King and Issac Spencer King in Pineville, Mo. She graduated from Pineville High School in 1931. After graduation she worked in her Aunt Elizabeth Worley's beauty salons. Virginia married Frank Chambers in 1936 and shortly after moved to California. She worked at defense plants during the war years. Frank and Virginia were married for nineteen years. Five years after their divorce, Virginia and Ralph Long were married. In 1963, the Longs moved to Tennessee, his home state. They enjoyed the rural life there until his death in 1985. For the past four years, Virginia lived at Hermitage Gardens Assisted Living in Clinton, Tenn. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Ada Bayne of Pineville, Mo., a nephew, Gene Bayne of Joplin, Mo., many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She lived a long and full life and was blessed with a beautiful and loving nature. Once when asked what she knew for sure, Virginia replied "I know how little I know. Life passes us by quickly and we don't take advantage of what's there. Do now the things that make you happy!" She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside services will be held in Clinton, Tennessee. Virginia will be buried beside her beloved husband Ralph.

C.A. Harnar, 72, of Southwest City, Mo., was called home by God Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at his home in Southwest City, Mo., after a sudden illness. C.A. Harnar was born June 18, 1932, in Lanagan, Mo. He was raised in Lanagan, Mo. He served four years in the armed forces. He operated a Sinclair station and then Harnar Garage at Southwest City for many years. He was a member of the Southwest City United Methodist Church. He married Joan V. Smith on Dec. 29, 1956. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include one son, Michael D. Harnar of Okla.; two daughters, April Lee Randall of Southwest City, Mo., and Rhonda Jo Barth of Noel, Mo.; one brother, George Harnar of Noel, Mo.; one sister, Leona Latty of Lanagan, Mo.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Charles Harnar; one son, Patrick Harnar; six sisters, three infants, Lena, Dulay and Edith and Hazel Brown, Mildred Abercrombie, and Mable Johnston; four brothers, Clifford Buck Harnar, Charles Harnar, Grover Harnar and Jerry Wayne Harnar. Funeral services for C.A. Harnar were 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the Southwest City United Methodist Church in Southwest City, Mo. The Rev. David Howlett officiated. Burial was in the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Mo. The Rev. Walt Nielsen conducted the graveside rites. Nephews Dustin Smith, Lee Smith, Mike Blecha, Kevin Blecha, Kenny Buckner and Darrell Epperson served as pallbearers. Carson Blecha, Eual Bud Smith and James Perry Huck Smith served as honorary pallbearers. The Rev. James Gilbert Martin, 78, Goodman, Mo., died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in White Rock, Texas, to Thomas Clay Martin and Sarepta Alice (Freeman) Martin. The Rev. Martin moved to this area in 1971. He was a Southern Baptist minister for 50 years. He served as pastor of the Splitlog Baptist Church for 20 years and retired in 1991. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and taught at Crowder Vo-tech for 10 years. He and Mary Alice Vines were married Feb. 8, 1947, in Hereford, Texas. She survives. Additional survivors include three daughters, Alice Lee Martin, Berthoud, Colo., Judith Maye Haines, San Anselmo, Calif., and Tami Deane Martin, Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Gregory James Martin, Goodman, Mo.; one sister, Ella Mae Hnatke, Houston, Texas; four brothers, Thomas Clay Martin, Jr., Orlanda, Fla., Jesse Billie Martin, Sulphur Springs, Texas, Kenneth Luther Martin, Lubbock, Texas, and Ralph Freeman Martin, Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Joy Willet, Rebecca Jo Waisner, James Todd Martin and Lisa Lee Martin; five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She was born Aug. 25, 1952, in Barry County, Mo., to Harold Barron Fletcher and Lois Cynthia Mahurin Fletcher. She enjoyed magazines, music and singing in church, drinking tea and eating fried chicken, and watching the "Price is Right" and "Wheel of Fortune" on T.V. She attended the Church of Today in Pea Ridge and is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors are four brothers, Edward Harold Fletcher and wife Elizabeth Faye, Ernest Denver Fletcher and wife Ethel Maye, Farrel Gene Fletcher and wife Virginia, and Jimmy Ray Fletcher and wife Kay all of Jacket, Mo.; two sisters, Edith Lorene Tidwell and husband Rick of Rogers, and Evelyn Marie Fletcher of Pineville, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, friends and her church family. LaDonna Manke was born Oct. 26, 1965, in Stella, Mo., to the late Perry Joe Rodney and Sharon Kay (Sutton) Rodney. She lived most of her life in Goodman, Mo. She was a member of the Racine Christian Church. She worked at O'Sullivans in Lamar, Mo., for 13 years, returning to Goodman three years ago. She married Brian Manke April 5, 1999, in Barton County. He survives of the home in Goodman, Mo. Douglas Grizz E. Price, 65 of Anderson, Mo. died on Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 1:25 p.m. at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo. from injuries sustained from an automobile accident. Douglas was born on August 31, 1939 in Carthage, Mo., to the late Richard A. and Mary s. (Sayre) Price. He had lived in the Anderson area where he was self-employed for the past 20 years coming from the Joplin and Carthage area where he worked as a plumber. He married Patricia Pauline Ward on November 12, 1966. He loved gardening and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert Price. Survivors include his wife Pat of the home; one son, Roger Price of Joplin, Mo.; one daughter, Tina Fitchner of Lanagan, Mo.; three brothers, Richard Price of Winslow, Ark., Kenneth Price of California and Gary Price of Webb City, Mo., one sister, Thelma Singleterry of Riverside, Calif. and five grandchildren, Michael and Melody Price as well as Aaron, Amber and Tyler Fitchner. Scott was born Nov. 11, 1964, in Gravette, Ark., to the late Rex and Dana (Sanders) Bertschy. Scott spent most of his early life in the Bentonville, Ark., area. For six years, he was employed as a law clerk in Kansas City, Mo., and greatly enjoyed his position. For the last three years, he made him home in Pineville, Mo. In his spare time, Scott enjoyed surfing the net, playing cards with his family and friends and restoring old furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents, and maternal grandmother Nell McCurdy. Ivan L. Moore, 81, of Noel, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at his home after an illness. Ivan Moore was born March 8, 1923, in Cleora, Okla., to the late Dorse Cleo and Myrtle Elizabeth (Risingfawn) Moore. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was formerly a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a former Anderson Police Officer and McDonald County Reserve Deputy. He loved fishing. Ivan Moore was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James O. Moore and Billie D. Moore. Ivan Moore is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Moore of the home; one daughter, Veronica Franklin of Anderson, Mo., and her fiance', Lendall Wilson of Noel, Mo.; three grandchildren, Christopher Franklin, Jacob Franklin and Garreth Wilson; one brother, Bobbie Joe Moore of Raymond, Wash.; three sisters, Goldie Mae Hatfield of Neosho, Mo., Sue Tibbs of the state of Missouri, and Margie Roghton of the state of Arkansas; as well as his beloved dog, Sweetie. Myrna Lee Sanderson
Feb. 17, 1940 - Sept. 15, 2004
Myrna was born Feb. 17, 1940, in Clarke County, Iowa, to the late Joe Roy and Margaret Elizabeth (Gray) Williamson. She attended country school in Liberty Township Clark County, Iowa, and high school in Osceola, Iowa, graduating in the class of 1958. After graduation, she worked for a time in Des Moines, Iowa. Then she worked in a law office in Osceola, Iowa. On Dec. 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gary Duane Sanderson. To this union, three children were born, Kirk Douglas, Kory David and Kristi Diane. After spending the next few years being a housewife and mother, she went to work as a cashier at the drive-in for Clark County State Bank where she worked for 15 yeas. In June of 1991, Myrna and Gary sold their home in Osceola, Iowa, and moved to Jane, Mo., to start a new life. After moving to Jane, Mo., she started making soft sculpture items to be sold at the various craft fairs in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. She sold items to people from all over the U.S. For the past 10 years, Myrna loved to collect dolls and special Barbie holiday dolls. She was a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary at Osceola, Iowa. She leaves to mourn: her husband Gary; two sons, Kirk and friend Denise Gaddy of Osceola, Iowa, and Kory and wife Teresa of Lanagan, Mo.; one daughter Kristi and friend Tom Weigel of Van Wert, Iowa; grandchildren Shane Sanderson of Anderson, Mo., Randa, Dakota and Kadin Miller of Van Wert, Iowa, and Amanda Sanderson of Durant, Iowa.; three sisters, Mary Kay and husband Dean Frantz of Wellsburg, Iowa., Kathi and husband Gary Hainline of Leon, Iowa, Kellie and husband Terry Carlson of Pea Ridge, Ark.; and seven nieces and nephews, plus the love of her life, her four Yorkshire Terriers, Furbie, Muffin, Duley and Itty Bitty. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jo Dee, in childhood. Her body will be cremated. The family held a service to honor her life Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. All friends were welcome. Franklin Doan Payne

Franklin Doan Payne, age 70 years, 9 months, 7 days, went home to be with Jesus at 10 p.m., Sept. 21, 2004, at Joplin's Freeman/West Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born at rural Rocky Comfort, Mo., on Dec. 15, 1933, to Richard Norman Payne and Mildred Anna Carnell Payne. Frank lived most of his life in and around the Powell area, except for four years he spent in the Navy during the Korean War shortly after graduating from Rocky Comfort High School. He was united in marriage to Louise Day on Dec. 27, 1957, at Miami, Okla. To this union four children were born; Ramona Louise Payne, Timothy Doan Payne Senior, Robert Allen Payne and Franklin Glenn Payne. Frank is survived by his wife, Louise, of the home; a daughter Ramona and husband, Ken Spears, of Rocky Comfort; three grandsons, Jason Cook and wife, Amanda, of Fairview, Mo., Caleb Spears of Rocky Comfort, Mo., and Timothy Doan Payne, Jr., of the U.S. Army; a step-grandson, Jeremy Spears and wife, Chandi, of Bella Vista, Ark.; three granddaughters, Sonya Colvin and husband, Charlie, of Rocky Comfort, Mo., Ashley Cook of Rocky Comfort, Mo., and Samantha Louise Payne of the U.S. Army; three great-granddaughters, McKensie, Chloe and Madison Colvin; a step-great-granddaughter, Taylor Spears and a step-grandson, Cody Colvin; one sister, Doris Lucille Hamilton of Mano, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Dollay Jean Payne of Anderson, Mo.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three sons and one brother. Frank loved Jesus and was going to the Wheaton First Baptist Church where he gave his life to the Lord about a year ago. He leaves his family with peace knowing that he is at home in heaven where his Savior and loved ones and friends are that have gone on before. Frank worked as a carpenter for 30 years, then worked at FASC for eight years, retiring in 1997. He loved to fish and hunt. There was nothing he enjoyed more than a good coyote or fox chase. He loved coon hunting with his friends and talking about who had the best coon dog or the fastest running hound, but most of all he loved attending the First Baptist Church and worshipping his Lord. He was a loving husband and father. He was a special grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be sadly missed by his family and many, many friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheaton First Baptist Church. Service was Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Wheaton First Baptist Church. Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Wheaton Funeral Home with burial at Rocky Comfort Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Culp officiated.

Mildred Irene Robertson
June 6, 1922 - Sept. 26, 2004
Mildred Irene Robertson, 82 of Parsons, KS passed away on Sunday September 26, 2004, at 12:03 a.m. in Labette County Medical Center in Parsons, Kan. Mrs. Robertson was born on June 6, 1922, to the late Glenn and Ada (Owens) Wylie in Sulphur Springs, Ark. She was raised in Noel, Mo. She married Gerald B. Robertson on Sept. 14, 1946. Being the wife of a serviceman, she made her home in many parts of the United States and also in Japan and England. She was the past president of the officer's wives club, very active in the Order of the Eastern Star and she also enjoyed golfing and bowling. She was a member of the Noel United Methodist Church in Noel, Mo. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, an infant twin brother, a brother, E. Nap Wylie, a sister, Ernestine Coffey and a grandson, Steven Jaskiewicz. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Roberts, a daughter, Susan Beck and husband Dennis of Coffeyville, Kan.; one son, Bryan Robertson and wife Fran of Yucca Valley, Calif., one sister, Glendene Eskridge of Neosho, Mo., as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Robertson will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Noel United Methodist Church in Noel, MO. The Rev. David Howlett will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. Thursday, until the time of service in the church. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, MO. Pallbearers will be Allen Jaskiewicz, Dennis Beck, David Wills, Bryan Robertson, Jim Latimer and Mike Eskridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Arthritis Association in care of the Funeral Home.

Lloyd Timothy Frye, 50, of Cassville, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at 2:l0 a.m. at Christian Health Care in Springfield, Mo. Lloyd Frye was born on Oct. 29, l953, in Tulsa, Okla., to Floyd Loyid and Barbara Blanche (Driver) Frye. He lived in Tulsa until moving to Lanagan, Mo., in l980. He moved to Cassville, Mo., in l993. Lloyd graduated from Oklahoma State Tech. in l985 with an associates degree in Auto Parts Management. He worked in retail sales for auto parts stores. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and race cars. He was preceded in death by his father and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Survivors include his mother, Barbara Dean and husband Virgil of Cassville, Mo. Also, two brothers, Clarence Frye of Cassville, Mo., and Keith Frye of Lanagan, Mo.; a sister, Elisa Bridgeman and husband Dean of Tulsa, Okla.; four nieces, Faith Bridgeman, Stephanie Zinn, Traci Launius and Karen Bridgeman; two great nieces, and one great nephew. The funeral service for Lloyd Frye will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at l0 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Washburn, MO. The Rev. Sam Mitchell will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Clarence Frye, Paul Dean, Keith Frye, Ed Davis, Dean Bridgeman and Eddie Poe. Burial will be in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn, Mo. Friends may pay their respects on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, MO from 9-5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or National Kidney Foundation in care of Ozark Funeral Home.
