Essie Payne
Nov. 2, 1922 - Sept. 5, 2004
Essie Payne, 81, Harrisonville, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville.
She was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Chapman, Ala., the daughter of Matt and Pearl (Carnathan) Wilson.
Feb. 28, 1943, she married John Wilson Payne in Stuttgart, Ark.
Mrs. Payne worked in real estate along with her husband, John, who owned Payne Realty in Harrisonville. She was a Mary Kay representative for 25 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville, other clubs and organizations.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John W. Payne, May 14, 2004; an infant daughter; two sisters, Elsie Bass and Lillie Aplin; and three brothers, Keanon, Lewis and Ellie Wilson.
Surviving are a son, John W. Payne Jr. and wife, Linda, Harrisonville; two daughters, Joan V. Dunham and husband, Jon, Lee's Summit; and Mary Ann Payne, Golden Valley, Minn.; and a brother, Vincent Wilson, Pensacola, Fla.; six grandchildren, Patty Payne, Teresa Payne, Charlotte Holden, John C. Payne, Terry Roth and Sean Dunham; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlotte Holden, Patty Payne, Teresa Payne and Diane Whitworth.
Pallbearers were Melvin Bradley, Kyle Burton, Sean Dunham, Artie Famuliner, John C. Payne and Terry Roth.
Services were Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Charles Sutton officiating. Vocalists were Sarah Roth and Dee-Ann Enslin.
Burial was in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

Cody Shaw Prewitt
April 30, 1988 - Sept. 6, 2004
Cody Shaw Prewitt, 16, Pleasant Hill and Harrisonville, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at North Kansas City Hospital, Lee's Summit, as the result of at automobile accident.
He was born April 30, 1988, the son of Dustin K. and Teri R. (Prewitt) Whiting.
Cody graduated from East Lynne Elementary School and was a junior at the Pleasant Hill High School. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Football team and the wrestling team.
He worked at Captain D's in Harrisonville.
Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Terry Prewitt, and grandmother, Gloria (Sharp) Walk.
Surviving are his parents, Dustin and Teri Whiting, Harrisonville; two brothers, Logan A. Whiting and Riley M. Whiting, both of Harrisonville; grandparents Leonard and Carolyn Whiting, Harrisonville, Jerry and Pam Aeby, North Palm Beach, Fla.; great-grandmother, June Carlile, Harrisonville; and great-grandfather, Ed Sharp.
Pallbearers were Troy Prewitt, Sammy Shewmaker, Justin Elliott, Elder Kauffman, Brian Henderson and Russell Bohrer.
Services were Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at the Pleasant Hill High School with Bill Carlile and elders David and Vicki Todd officiating.
Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Wallace Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Cody Memorial Fund in care of the Pleasant Hill Bank, attention Sharon Chaney.

Eva Wynell Robison
March 10, 1943 - Sept. 2, 2004
Eva Wynell Robison, 61, Garden City, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
She was born March 10, 1943, in Littlefield, Texas, the daughter of Nathaniel Taft and Ophia Hope (Kemp) Thedford.
June 11, 1960, she married Jackie Don Robison in Littlefield.
Mrs. Robison was employed as a merchandiser for 28 years for JCPenney Company before her retirement in 2002 from the Clinton store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garden City. She was raised in Texas and had lived in several states before moving to Garden City in 1990.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother, Edwin Thedford.
Surviving are her husband, Jack Robison, of the home; two sons, Rodney Robison, Cottonwood Falls, Kan., and Charlie Robison and wife, Sandy, Hays, Kan.; a daughter, Rhonda Updegrove and husband, Dale, Chanute, Kan.; a sister, Bernadine Dawson and husband, Donald, Jacksonville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Catherine Thedford, Rusk, Texas; nine grandchildren, Christy Coble, Jackie, Jamie, Jacob, Jason and Tyler Robison, Emily and Eric Updegrove and Klineesha Allen; a great-grandson, Joshua McCarty; other relatives and many friends.
Honorary pallbearers were John Blaine, Wayne Bradshaw, Ray Campbell, Mory Handler, the Rev. Bob Ingle, Darrell Sisk and Dale Updegrove.
Pallbearers were Jeff Bathgate, Jimmie Coble, Gary Edington, Jacob Robison, Jason Robison and Tyler Robison.
Services were Sept. 4, 2004, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Jeff Funderburk and Doyle Copeland officiating.
Burial was in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Edith N. Simmons
May 30, 1921 - Sept. 2, 2004
Edith N. Simmons, 83, Harrisonville, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
She was born May 30, 1921, in Calera, Okla., the daughter of William Franklin and Myrtle Edith (Barker) Norton.
She lived in Kansas City before moving to Harrisonville in 1972. She was a clerk at JCPenney in Truman Corners, Grandview, and then worked for the Harrisonville R-9 School District in the cafeteria bake shop.
Mrs. Simmons was a member of West Side Baptist Church, Harrisonville and the Harrisonville VFW Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Council on Aging and was a member of the Golden Foxes.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Wieberg and his wife, Viola, Harrisonville, and Cecil Wieberg, Clinton; a daughter, Carrie Jones Wolfe, San Dimas, Calif.; a brother, Ralph L. Norton, Locust Grove, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Henry Ford, Max Miller and Jim Yoder.
Pallbearers were Gary Wieberg, Mike Wieberg, Nathan Welch, Scott McLean, Bill Weddington and Bret Snell.
Services were Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Eric Snyder officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Council on Aging.

Jack Lynn Willig
Sept. 21, 1956 - Sept. 8, 2004
Jack Lynn Willig, 47, Harrisonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, in Harrisonville.
He was born Sept. 21, 1956, in Independence, the son of Clarence Edward Willig and Phyllis Ann (Perkins) Kimzey.
May 1, 1993, he married Lisa Marie Haskins in Independence.
Mr. Willig was a partner at Knob Town Cycles in Kansas City as a motorcycle service technician since March 2004. He was formerly employed at the UMKC security department and was a carpenter.
He attended the Cross Roads Assembly of God Church, Harrisonville, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bates City, and the America Motorcycle Association. Mr. Willig had lived in Independence before moving to Harrisonville in 1998.
Surviving are his wife, Lisa Willig, of the home; two daughters, Jacquelyn Renee Willig, of the home, and Jesika Marie Standley, Independence; his father, Clarence Edward Willig his mother, Phyllis Ann Kimzey, both of Odessa; four brothers, Rick Willig and Dan Willig, both of Odessa, Doug Willig, Jefferson City, and Eddie Willig, Blue Springs; a sister, Brenda Kay Fulbright, Odessa; his grandmother, Aileen Perkins, Marshall; other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers were Joseph Fulbright, Philip Haskins Jr., Eddie Willig, Dan Willig, Doug Willig and Rick Willig.
Services were Sept. 11, 2004, at the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville, with Pastor Darrin Widner and Paul Fishell, officiating. Vocalists were Paul and Jalaine Fishell.
Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
The family suggests contributions be made to the daughters' education fund.

Kathe Brewer
Nov. 5, 1928 - July 3, 2006
Kathe Brewer, 77, Belton, died July 3, 2006.
She was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Frankfurt, Germany. She worked at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base Exchange 25 years before her retirement.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. July 7 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan., under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Roger Parry Buckley
Dec. 5, 1924 - July 2, 2006
Roger Parry Buckley, 81, Harrisonville, died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville.
He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Kingsville, the son of Harry R. and Cora L. (Arnold) Buckley.
Feb. 14, 1943, he married Louise Ellen Crotchett in Creighton.
Mr. Buckley graduated from Harrisonville High School. He worked for Pure Milk Producers Association, a milk cooperative, serving as general manager.
He was baptized in the First Christian Church and attended the First Baptist Church, both in Harrisonville.
Mr. Buckley served in the United States Army. While in the Army he was a truck master supervising five other drivers while he transported medical supplies and wounded soldiers to medical aid. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received when his truck struck a land mine.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Ellen Buckley, of the home; a son, Larry R. Buckley, Iberia; a daughter, Paula Bright, Sewickley, Pa.; a brother, Harry Lee Buckley, Mount Olive, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Jared R. Buckley, Abigale B. Willie, Emiley L. Bright, Joel R. Buckley, Jason Williams, Nathan R. Bright and Joanna R. Kueker; and five great-grandchildren, Cora L. Buckley, Gavin R. Buckley, Sam B. Willie, Maia G. Buckley, and Brianna R. Williams; and many friends.
Services were July 4, at Atkinson Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Davis officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
