MAGNUS G. NELSEN
Magnus G. Nelsen, 95, of Lee’s Summit passed away on Nov. 2, 2006 at the John Knox Village Care Center.
He was born on May 21, 1911 in Minden, Neb.
He is survived by one daughter, Candace McKee, and husband, Joe; two grandchildren; and five great–grandchildren.
Burial to take place at a later date in Minden, Neb.

LOUIS (LOU) BOYCE
1920-2006
This kind and gentle man went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2006.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Raytown, Mo., and a member of The Shepard Center of Lee’s Summit.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Dee Boyce; sons, David Boyce and Craig Boyce; daughter, Karen Boyce; five grandsons and one great-grandson.
Memorial services will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday June 17, 2006.

VIOLET MARIE LITTLEJOHN
The gates of heaven opened for Violet Marie Littlejohn of Raytown, Mo., on June 11, 2006.
Born to Darsey and Clara Miles on July 25, 1927, Violet was a graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City, Mo.
She worked as a telephone operator, later retiring from the IRS, then working across the United States for FEMA.
Quick with a smile and equipped with a great sense of humor, Violet was a life-long member of the Assembly of God Church and a former resident of Lone Jack, Mo.
An avid bowler and gardener, particularly fond of irises, she was a member of the Women’s Ministries, the Jolly Timers and the Red Hat Society.
Violet believed in God and devoted her life to raising six children with her former husband, Baxter Littlejohn, including Gary Littlejohn (Roxy) of Blue Springs, Rebecca Gants (Mark) of Blue Springs (currently stationed in Atlanta), Dana Littlejohn (Kathleen) of Blue Springs, Jane Ray (Chuck) of Lee’ Summit, Baxter Lee Littlejohn of Overland Park, and Martha Leath (James) of Lone Jack, Mo.
A grandmother of 16, she was especially delighted with her four great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of Violet’s life at a memorial service at 6:30 p.m., June 19, 2006, at the Lee’s Summit Assembly of God Church, 425 S.E. Oldham Parkway, Lee’s Summit; burial in Floral Hills East.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated for the Music Ministry at the church.

JEAN HIATT REED
Jean Hiatt Reed, 79, of Evanston, Ill., passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2006.
Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Lee’s Summit Cemetery; burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.

JOHN WILLIAM DONALDSON
John William Donaldson, 68, Odessa, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at his home in Odessa.
He was born Aug. 23, 1938 in Odessa, the son of James John Donaldson and Gladys Love Robinson Donaldson.
On May 19, 1962, he married Betty Jane Bonar in Richmond, Ind.
She survives at the home.
After graduation from the University of Missouri School of Mines at Rolla, Mo., in 1960, with his chemical engineering degree, John went to work for Union Carbide in Speedway, Ind., until entering the Army as a second lieutenant.
In January 1961, and after his honorable discharge, he went back to work for Union Carbide at the New Haven Conn., plant from 1961 to 1966, then transferred to the North Kansas City, Mo., office and moved his family to Odessa.
He worked in the flame resistant coatings division.
After his retirement in 1991, John went to work for the Industries for the Blind Shelter Workshop, which is associated with the Kansas School of the Blind, in the Fairfax district making trash bags and mattresses.
John was salutatorian for his Odessa High School graduation class of 1956.
In 1969, John was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Odessa R7 School Board, then was re-elected in April 1969 and served until April 1976.
He served as vice president of the school board and in 1974, served as president.
During his college days, John was in ROTC and at graduation was commissioned a second lieutenant and, in January 1961, entered active duty. Also during college John was a charter and founding member of Acacia Fraternity for the University of Missouri–Rolla, chapter.
He also was a Blue Key Scholar.
While working for Union Carbide in the North Kansas City office, he was a member of the North Kansas City Business Breakfast Club.
John is a member and former deacon and trustee at the First Christian Church in Odessa and served on many boards and committees and in recent years attended the Woods Chapel Bible Fellowship Church in Blue Springs, Mo.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Betty, are four children with spouses, Kathy and Marty Padget of Lake Winnebago, Mo., Alice and Carl Palermo of Lee’s Summit, Emily Donaldson of Lawrence, Kan., and Jim and Linda Donaldson of Lee’s Summit, three grandchildren, Drew and David Padget and Anna Donaldson; three step-grandchildren, Frank and Carl Palermo II and Mary Rose Bennett; two step-great-grandchildren, Alexander and Cameron Bennett.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 1, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Roger Williams and Rev. Jim Baker officiating.
Burial in Greenton Cemetery in Odessa.
Military honors will be presented by Odessa Military Honors Team No. 5675.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and/or First Christian Church of Odessa.

MARY LEE (WORKMON) HATFIELD
Mary Lee (Workmon) Hatfield, 66, of Lee’s Summit passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006 at her home.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit.
Burial to follow in Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Mary Lee was born on Dec. 21, 1939 in Greenwood, Mo.
She was a receptionist for the R-7 School District, a member of Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic church, the Lakewood Garden Club, the Friends of Powell Gardens, and an organizer on the Reunion Committee for the class of 1957 of Lee’s Summit High School.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Kathryn (Bennett) Pinnell and her first husband of 40 years David Workmon, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Hatfield, of the home; her sons, David Workmon and wife, Terri, and Eric Workmon, both of Lee’s Summit; brother, John Pinnell and wife, Sheila, of Lee’s Summit; sisters, Eileen Whiting and husband, Phil, of Lee’s Summit, Kay Wurdeman and husband, Bill, of Houston, Texas; step-children, Michael Hatfield and wife, Susan, of Lee’s Summit, Mark Hatfield and wife, Kelley, of Lee’s Summit and Darin Hatfield and wife, Kathryn, of Greenwood, Mo.; grandchildren, Mitchell, Bradley, Garrett and Jacqueline Workmon and Marcy, Jeff, Brent, Katie, Wyatt, and Dylan Hatfield; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

REV. ARMIN DEYE
Rev. Armin Deye, 92, Emporia, Kan., died Jan. 26. Among survivors are wife, Gladys Deye, and daughter Dottie Snow of Lee’s Summit. Visitation is 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, followed by a 10:30 a.m. service at Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia; burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Olpe, Kan.

THELMA MCKINLEY
Thelma McKinley, 95, of Lee’s Summit passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 at Langsfrod Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Eldon Cemetery, Eldon, Mo.

Thelma was born Nov. 19, 1910 in Lorraine, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest McKinley, and son, Harold McKinley.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Vicky Morrison of Cosicana, Texas, Susie Lelly of Durhan, N.C., Janet Ezell of Lee’s Summit, and Ken McKinley of Lee’s Summit; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
