LARRY R. GANZER
Larry R. Ganzer, 63, of Lee’s Summit, passed away April 30, 2004, at Research Medical Center. Memorial services were at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Langsford Funeral Home.
Mr. Ganzer had a bachelor of arts degree in computer engineering, and worked at Honey-well for 24 years. He enjoyed life, family and friends, of whom he had many. He was in the United States Navy, and traveled the world. He enjoyed science and music. Larry was an avid Chiefs fan, but most of all he loved Christ. He was a patent holder for an emergency storm alert system which is currently used by television and radio stations across the United States.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dr. Donald Ganzer; a nephew, Rusty; and an aunt, Mildred Verbeek.
His survivors include his wife, Patricia, Lee’s Summit; brother, Dr. Dick Ganzer and wife, Janice, Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Gloria Woodworth, Lee’s Summit; daughter, Jennifer Landgraff and husband, John, Lee’s Summit; four grandchildren, Kris, Micheal, Joy and Kimberly; nieces, Sue Gardner and husband, Tim, Lee’s Summit, Kim Meives and husband, Steve, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Gayle Smith and wife, Yvonne, Phoenix, Ariz.; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

D. ELIZABETH PLANK
D. Elizabeth Plank, 84, passed away May 2, 2004. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Park Lawn Chapel; burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Swope Park Baptist Church or The Parkinson’s Foundation.
Elizabeth was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Lee’s Summit, and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1936. She married Earl F. Plank on Oct. 17, 1939. She was a devoted homemaker for 64 years, and worked at Sears and the IRS before retiring in 1985. She was a faithful, active member of Swope Park Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was a Girl Scout leader, and enjoyed traveling, bowling, fishing, her flower and vegetable garden, sewing, handwork, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Goodwin.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Earl; two daughters, Karen Penticuff and Connie Clausen; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Bernard Hollyday.

John W. Sellers Jr., 83, Lee’s Summit, died May 2, 2004, at St. Joseph Health Center. Services are at 2 p.m., May 7, at Langsford Funeral Home; burial in Floral Hills East Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m., May 6, at the funeral home.

PAUL ANSEL TURNEY
Paul Ansel Turney, 67, with family by his side at his home, lost his 12-year battle with cancer on May 1, 2004. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Langsford Funeral Home; burial in Lee’s Summit Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paul Turney Memorial Fund, c/o Bank of Lee’s Summit, 310 S.E. Main, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063.
Paul was born Jan. 2, 1937, one of nine children born to William and Jewel Turney. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union No. 2 for 35 years, retiring in February 1992. He was an avid reader and gardener. He was happiest spending time with his family. During the last decade, Paul brought great joy to countless area children by making appearances as Santa Claus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jewel Turney; sister, Nelda Fay; brother, Ray; nephew, Ray Jr.; grandson, Cole; niece, Ellie Fleming; and his wife’s parents, Robert and Helen Lesher.
Paul is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna, of the home; sons, Rick and wife, Kathie, Lee’s Summit, and Brian, Lee’s Summit; daughters, Paula Turney and fiance, Todd Davidson, Bates City, Mo., Phyllis Robinson and husband, Ed, Oak Grove, Mo., Shelly Gerdes and husband, Mike, Calif., and Ilene Turney and Nadene Legant, both of Lee’s Summit; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; an extended family; and a multitude of friends.
Paul had a profound effect on everyone in his life, was deeply loved, and will forever live in our memories.

Bobby F. Slagle, 58, of Lee’s Summit, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Langs-ford Funeral Home; burial in Floral Hills East Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, prior to service, at the funeral home. Bobby was born Feb. 22, 1946, in Texas; two daughters, Donna Whitcomb, Albuquerque, N.M., and Doreen Keele and her husband, Randy, Blue Springs; one brother, Frank Daniels, Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Lou Powers, Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
