HANNIBAL - Gladys O. Jeffries, 93, of Hannibal, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Luther Manor Nursing Home in Hannibal.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Tom Day will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon until time of services Friday at Grand View Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Jeffries was born March 6, 1909, in Nadine to Tom and Della Herron Jones.
She was married to William H. Jeffries on Jan. 8, 1927. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1986.
Survivors include three sons, William (Don) Jeffries of Palmyra, Danny G. Jeffries of Hannibal and Gary Jeffries of New London; three daughters, Etta Mae Bohon of Montreal, Mo., Jean Rae Hitt of Columbia and Sherry Brown Burton.
He was married to Burtilla Turner on Jan. 26, 1960, in Dalton. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, James M. Burton Jr. and wife, Carla, of Atlanta, Ga., and Victor R. Burton of Pacific; four daughters, Marsha D. Turner, Tonya D. Burton and a special friend, Reginald Reed, and Mary E. Burton, all of Hannibal; and Cynthia L. Burton and a special friend, David Foster of Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; and two brothers.
Mr. Burton was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Master Tank and Welding as a welder. He was a member of Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55. He was a Baptist by faith.
Robert (Bob) Howard

ELSBERRY - Robert Wilson (Bob) Howard, 74, of Elsberry, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. The Rev. Sue Biggerstaff will officiate. Burial will be at Elsberry City Cemetery.
Mr. Howard was born April 18, 1928, in Elsberry to Other Groves and Gertrude Wilson Howard.
He was married to Kathryn Mae Beaver on Nov. 22, 1953, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Kay Silver of St. Peters, and Robin Dameron and husband, Gil, and Rhonda Leverington and husband, Niles, all of Elsberry; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Virginia Eberle of Silex; one stepbrother-in-law, Mike Diester of Gladstone; one sister-in-law, Barbara Howard of Elsberry; and several nieces and nephews.
James M. Burton

HANNIBAL - James M. Burton, 73, of Hannibal, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at his home.
There will be no services.
The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Burton was born July 16, 1929, in Dalton to Allen and Ann Foster , of Columbia; one sister, Sophia Illinois: a bachelor of science degree in 1942, a master of science degree in 1961 and an ADV degree in 1964. She taught in the Champaign School District from 1959 to 1966. She was the math consultant K-12 for the Unit 4 schools from 1966 to 1968 and the director of the gifted program from 1969 to 1972. She was a visiting professor in math at the University of Smith Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Collier Funeral Home in Green wood Cemetery in Clarksville.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 13, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dietrich was born May 12, 1922, near Corning, Ark., to Henry and Donna Arnold Wilder.
She was married to Anton Joseph Dietrich on Sept. 23, 1944, in St. Charles. He survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Edward Joseph Dietrich and wife, Ann, of Plano, Louisiana; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

MONROE CITY - Anna Sloop, 91, of Monroe City, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral services are pending at the Garner Funeral Home in Monroe City.

TROY - Elizabeth A. (Liz) Reese, 63, of Warrenton, died at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy. The Rev. Dewayne Presson will officiate. Burial will be at Steinhagen Cemetery in Warrenton.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reese was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Lincoln County to Marion and Katherine M. Shoults Luckett.
She was married to Howard H. Reese on Aug. 7, 1954, in Warrenton. He survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Russell Reese of Hawk Point, Terry Reese of Foley, Randy Reese of St. Peters and Howard Alan Reese of O'Fallon; one brother, Carl Luckett of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Mary Diehl of Harvester; and nine grandchildren.
Mrs. Reese had worked as a nurse's aide at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years and later as a seamstress for the Liebe Co. in Chesterfield where she made emblems for uniforms of high schools, colleges and the St. Louis Cardinals. She attended New Life Center in Warrenton.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
Robert R. (Bobby) Williams

HANNIBAL - Robert R. (Bobby) Williams, 45, of Hannibal, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at his home.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Charles Emmett Hale III will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Williams Sr. and Wyoma Porter.
He was married to Arletha Mayfield. She survives.
Other survivors include one stepdaughter, Heidi Mayfield of Hannibal; one special aunt, Willetta Turner of Hannibal; four brothers, Albert Williams and Crawford Williams, all of Hannibal, and Richard Green of Quincy, Ill., Karen Iowa, and Mary Holland of Monroe City; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and one sister.
Mr. Williams was well-known and well-liked. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of the Allen Chapel Church.
