Stanley “Bud” Irwin Richardson
March 3, 1919 - May 28, 2004
Stanley “Bud” Irwin Richardson, 85, Raytown, died, May 28, 2004, at John Knox Care Center in Lee’s Summit.
He was born March 3, 1919, in West Line, the son of Clifford Percy and Martha Irene (Gallamore) Richardson.
Dec. 25, 1939, he married Chloris Fessler in Harrisonville. The Rev. George C. Monroe performed the ceremony. They shared 64 years of marriage together. Bud and Chloris lived in Raytown since 1975.
Mr. Richardson was a plant manager for Cargill, retiring in 1981 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the West Line Christian Church and an amateur radio operator.
Mr. Richardson compiled the Glenwild Cemetery Record Book and also wrote a book on the History of West Line.
Surviving are his wife, Chloris Richardson, of the home; two sons, Warren Richardson, Nevada, and Stan Richardson, Parkville; four brothers, Gene Richardson, Mesa, Ariz., John Richardson, Grandview, Jessie Richardson, Cleveland, and Larry Richardson, Belton; three sisters, Martha Lyon, Freeman, Pat Secrest, West Line, and Mary Jane Ullery, Lee’s Summit; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Larry Atkinson, Jack Cook, Stan Richardson, Warren Richardson, Kenny Richardson and Paul Richardson.
Services were Tuesday, June 1, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with Dr. Barth Smith, officiating.
Burial was in Glenwild Cemetery, Cleveland, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Line Christian Church or the Glenwild Cemetery Association.

Mary Elizabeth Schmidt
July 22, 1921 - June 8, 2004
Mary Elizabeth (Wells) Schmidt, 82, Harrisonville, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville.
Mary was born July 22, 1921, in northwest Topeka, Kan., the daughter of William C. and Josephine (Fisher) Wells.
Sept. 27, 1945, she married John E. Schmidt in Paola, Kan.
After her schooling at Delia, Kan., she moved to Kansas City and later to Harrisonville. During World War II, she worked at Lake City Arsenal and Bendix. Mary was baptized and was a member of the First Christian Church, Harrisonville, since 1946.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John, Nov. 22, 1981; and one brother, Donald C. Wells.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Doris Wells, La Canada, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jerry Lemmer, Bob Lemmer, Rob Lemmer, Todd Lemmer, Eddie Anderson and Chris Anderson.
Graveside services and burial were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, at Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Don Wiltfong and the Rev. Larry Hess, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Contributions may be made to the Harrisonville First Christian Church, Harrisonville.

Jacqueline Rosina Stevens
June 12, 1935 - May 25, 2004
Jacqueline Rosina Stevens left this world to be with our Lord Tuesday, May 25, 2004.
She was born June 12, 1935, in Norwich, England, the daughter of Cecil and Doris May (Hannent) Barber.
Jackie’s childhood in England was surrounded by the horrors of war, many times escaping bombs with only the protection beneath a tree or a kitchen table.
Her character as a “tomboy” in lace gave her the appropriate nickname as “Johnnie.”
Often when she became afraid she would remember her mother saying, “Johnnie, say your prayers and everything will be all right.”
Jackie moved to the United States in 1949. She lived in New Jersey for two years before moving to Garden City.
On March 4, 1952, Jackie was united in marriage to Harris Stevens. From that day on the couple of 52 years bonded together as one. Both living their lives on their farm of 50 years, as loving servants to their children, grandchildren and their community.
Jackie and Harris never met a stranger, always willing to feed anyone who was hungry, even a stray dog or cat.
Jackie was a homemaker, as well as a farm hand with her husband, never afraid to be among the cows, pigs or shucking corn. The only thing Jackie was afraid of in life and ran from was a camera and a turtle.
Jackie and Harris accepted Christ and went on to serve in the Dayton Community Church as youth group and Sunday school leaders, touching the lives of several generations.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Charles Rustin; and a great-granddaughter, Faith Ann.
Survivors include her husband, Harris, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Morgan and her husband, Ron, Archie, and Rhonda Morgan and her husband, John, Garden City; a sister, Sheila Edna Stuart, El Cajon, Calif.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The prayers of Jackie’s family is that each husband and child in this world would have a loving lady as Jackie to share their lives with. Amen.
Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Jennings, C. D. Jennings, Duane Jennings, Ed Stamps and Eldon Jensen.
Pallbearers were Clint Morgan, Dave Wimsatt, Curt Morgan, Chris Morgan, John Smith and Tony Burton.
Services were May 28 at the Dayton Community Church, Dayton, with by Rick Blundell and Nelson Olinger officiating. Music was by the Dayton Community Church Choir.
Burial was in the Austin Cemetery, near Archie, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Rosa Lee Wimsatt
May 4, 1947 - May 3, 2004
Rosa Lee Wimsatt, 57, Archie, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
She was born May 4, 1947, in Freeman, the daughter of Aubrey Linton and Gladys Lorene (Zimmerman) Chapman.
Mrs. Wimsatt was a lifelong Archie resident and graduated from Archie High School in 1965.
July 4, 1964, she married Carl “Turk” Wimsatt in Archie.
Mrs. Wimsatt worked as a seamstress for the Betty Rose Garment Factory in Kansas City and for the Holden Garment Factory. She had also worked as a cook for the Archie schools from 1976 to 1999. She was a member of the Archie United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Rex and Oather Chapman; and a sister, Dorothy Woolery.
Surviving are her husband, Carl, of the home; two sons, Bryan Wimsatt and Carl Blake Wimsatt, and a daughter, LeeAnn Ford, all of Archie; a brother, Arle Chapman, Drexel; four sisters, Verla Roberds, Harrisonville, Mary Ann Drew, Lee’s Summit, Twila Dryer, West Line, and Donna Duffield, Kansas City; and five grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were James Dryer, Bob Lotspeich, Norman Wimsatt, Arle Chapman, Tim Dryer, Dale Dryer, Doug Dawson and Clint Moles.
Pallbearers were Bryan Wimsatt, Blake Wimsatt, Keven Ford, Brad Lotspeich, Loren Wimsatt and Lonnie Wimsatt.
Services were Monday, June 7, at the United Methodist Church, Archie, with the Rev. Travis James officiating. Larry Cantrell and Mike Bowman were the vocalists and Gerry Foote was the organist.
Burial was in the Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Archie.

Kirk Allen Carpenter
Oct. 4, 1959 - June 29, 2004
Kirk Allen Carpenter, 44, Kansas City, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, in Kansas City.
He was born Oct. 4, 1959, in Pittsburg, Kan., the son of John Grant and Mary Margaret (Brooks) Arnold.
Nov. 22, 2003, he married Lydia Mae Dewey in Belton.
Mr. Carpenter was employed as a concrete finisher for Robert’s Basement Repair, Harrisonville. He was a member of Southland Baptist Church, Belton.
He was an Army veteran and a member of the Elks Lodge, Grandview. He had moved to Kansas City in 2003.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Monty.
Surviving are his wife, Lil Carpenter, of the home; two sons, Allen Carpenter and his wife, Kelli, Harrisonville, and Kirk Allen Masterson, Indiana; a daughter, Jamie Walsh and husband, Jeremiah, Archie; his mother and stepfather, Margaret Arnold and husband, Robert, Pittsburg, Kan.; his father and stepmother, John Grant and wife, Virginia, Portsmouth, N.H.; three brothers, Mike Carpenter, Omaha, Neb., John Arnold, Lamar, and Gene Arnold, Pittsburg; five sisters, Robin Hamilton, Nevada, Linda Marshall, Warsaw, Bobbee Jo Hoffstatter, Webb City, Tammy Wayman, Franklin, Kan., and Vickie Carpenter, N.H.; four grandchildren, Luke, Christian, Ethan and Jaxson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation.
Services were Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with Elder Dean Walsh and Dr. Gerald Berry officiating.

Robert J. Chanslor
Oct. 8, 1930 - July 4, 2004
Robert J. Chanslor, 73, Peculiar, died July 4, 2004, at his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1930, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., the son of Robert and Helen Chanslor.
Mr. Chanslor earned his master’s degree in chemistry and retired after 30 years with the Environmental Protection Agency.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Peculiar and a member of the American Modelers Association, Golden Valley R/C Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Louis and Helen Chanslor.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Anne (Runyan) Chanslor, of the home; children, Anne Katherine Koziol and husband, Ron, Chicago, Ill., David Winburn Chanslor and wife, Wilma, Independence, Amelia Helen Chanslor, Harrisonville, Dorothy Denise Kelley and husband, David, Glendora, Calif., Agatha Edna Dickson and husband, Shawn, Overland Park, Kan., and Vivian Marie Estela and husband, Juan, Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.; three brothers, Richard Chanslor, Aiea, Hawaii, Donald Chanslor, Cheyenne, Wy., and David Chanslor, Wilsonville, Ala.; a sister, Dorothy Chanslor Colvert, North Little Rock, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; and two step-great-grandsons.
Services were Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Peculiar.
Burial was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery under the direction of the Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.

Edna L. Davis
July 3, 2004
Edna L. Davis, 96, Harrisonville, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at Golden Years in Harrisonville.
Services were July 7 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in the Orient Cemetery Harrisonville.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
