Randy Daryl Hoshor

Randy Daryl Hoshor, 53, Iberia, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at his home.
He was born Aug. 22, 1952, in Harrisonville, the son of Dean Daryl and Ruth Gertrude (Kissinger) Hoshor.
Mr. Hoshor grew up in the Garden City area and was a 1971 graduate of the Sherwood High School, Creighton. He received his associate’s degree from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had lived in Harrisonville before moving to Iberia.
Preceding him in death were his father; and a brother, Jerry Hoshor.
Surviving are a son, Ryan D. Hoshor and wife, Sarah, Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Dr. Megan L. Sneed, and husband, Ryan, Chicago, Ill.; his mother, Trudy Hoshor; two brothers, Mark T. Hoshor, Dothan, Ala., and Danny J. Hoshor, Lee’s Summit; two sisters, Carla D. Vogt, Urich, and Neva J. Allen, Knob Noster; two grandchildren, Jackson Ryan Hoshor and Jacob Ryan Sneed; his companion, Cauline Edmonson; and other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers were Ryan Hoshor, Carl Kissinger, David Laur, Mark D. Hoshor, Steven Hoshor and David Vogt.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. John Kukovich officiating. Music was provided by Brenda Koch, soloist, and Cory Hoshor, guitarist.
Burial was in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Randy D. Hoshor Memorial Fund.

Anna L. Roberts
Dec. 29, 1938 - Jan. 22, 2006
Anna Lee Roberts, 67, Harrisonville, died Jan. 22, 2006.
She was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Henry and Nora (McDaniel) Hoagland.
Graveside services were Jan. 25, 2006, at the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Dennis Allen Smiley
April 24, 1956 - Jan. 23, 2006
Dennis Allen Smiley, 49, Archie, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at his home.
He was born April 24, 1956, in Kansas City, the son of Grant and Vesta Leoma (Hedrick) Smiley.
April 30, 1994, he married Stacey Ann Williams.
Mr. Smiley owned Smiley Auto Trim in Archie and had previously owned and operated Union Auto Fabrics in Northeast Kansas City.
He was a member of Skyline Baptist Church in Kansas City.
He was a pilot and had previously owned his own plane.
He was a member of the Kansas City Dart Association and the Northeast Pool League.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Vesta; his mother-in-law, Judith Williams; and a brother, Marvin Smiley.
Surviving are his wife, Stacey, of the home; two sons, Matthew Issac Smiley, Independence, and Matthew David Williams, Archie; two daughters, Riane Williams and Emily Smiley, both of Archie; his father, Grant Smiley, Independence; two brothers, Richard Smiley and his wife, Kris, Kansas City, and Charles Smiley and his wife, Bupah, Independence, and his father-in-law, David Williams, Ocala, Fla.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Atkinson Chapel, Archie.
Services will be 1 p.m. Jan. 27, at the Atkinson Chapel.
Burial will be in the Austin Cemetery near Archie under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Archie.
Contributions may be made to the Archie United Methodist Church.

LaVerne Maxine Southard
April 24, 1956 - Jan. 23, 2006
LaVerne Maxine Southard, age 85, Harrisonville, died Jan. 24, 2006, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.
Visitation was from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Richard “Rick” Leland Wheeler
Richard “Rick” Leland, Wheeler, 63, Harrisonville, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville.
Cremation. Arrangements under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Gerald “Jerry” Lee Winter
Nov. 8. 1945 - Feb. 8, 2006
Gerald (Jerry) Lee Winter, 60, Garden City, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006.
He was born Nov. 8, 1945, in Trenton, the youngest son of Frederick William and Christina Mae (Compton) Winter.
Mr. Winter spent most of his life in the Garden City and Harrisonville areas.
July 23, 1966, he married Judy Marie Gilkeson.
Mr. Winter was a graduate of Harrisonville High School class of 1963 and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1968.
He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was an active member and Elder of the Harrisonville Mennonite Church for many years.
He was involve in many civic activities, as an Eagle Scout and later Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #244 in Garden City; member of the Garden City Medical Clinic Board that brought several doctors to Garden City; member and board chairman of the Sherwood School District; and president of the Kansas City Century 21 Broker Council.
Mr. Winter farmed for many years before becoming co-owner/broker of Century 21 Real Estate of Harrisonville, owner of the Jerry Winter Insurance Agency and bid assistant to Jason Winter Auctions.
Preceding him in death were his parents and father-in-law, George B. Gilkeson.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 40 years, Judy, of the home; a daughter, Jodie Huston, and husband Bob; a son, Jason and wife, Jennifer; four very special granddaughters, Kailey, Jocelyn, Abbey and Julianna, all of Harrisonville; two brothers, William and wife, Kay, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Edward and wife, Frannie, Garden City; his treasured mother-in-law and special friend, Doris Gilkeson, Garden City; other relatives; and many, many friends.
Honorary pallbearers were W.J. Cook, Jerald Gilkeson, Kent Jones, Dennis Poff, Michael Pozniak, David Schrock, Tom Schrock and Floyd Turner.
Pallbearers were Mike Cook, Laith Gilkeson, Seth Gilkeson, David Turner, Bryan Winter, John Winter and Rick Winter.
Services were Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at the Harrisonville Mennonite Church, Harrisonville, with Pastor Randy Evers, Pastor Keith Swartz and Richard Schrock officiating.
Music was congregational worship with Chris Filer as leader.
Burial was in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Harrisonville Christian School foundation.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Nancy L. Akins, 72, East Lynne, formerly of Creighton, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at her home.

Hallie P. Fenton
March 5, 1913 - Feb. 13, 2006
Hallie Pauline Fenton, 92, Harrisonville, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at her home.
She was born March 5, 1913, in Harrisonville, the daughter of Archibald Little and Lennie May (Mitts) King.
Sept. 13, 1933, she married Elston J. Fenton.
Mrs. Fenton was a homemaker and did ironing in her home for others.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking and making quilt tops.
She was a member of the Harrisonville First Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Elston, in 1971; a son, Walter J. Fenton; a brother, Perry King; and three sisters, Verda Bunnell, Sylvia Carlile and Martha Dockery.
Surviving are a son, Donald Fenton and his wife, Barbara, Harrisonville; a sister, Dorothy Hatton, Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Doug Fenton, Deana Dalton and her husband, Gabe, and Diana Harding and her husband, Zach; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Loren Fenton and Larry McCubbin.
Pallbearers were Charles Hatton, Bill Bunnell, William Stewart, Allen Bunch, Dennis Harding and Tony Patterson.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Jack Baize officiating.
Burial was in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
