BILL LASSEK, JR.
LAMAR - Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Daniel Funeral Home, for Valentine "Bill" Lassek, Jr., 63, Lamar, who died at 12:39 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, after a short illness.
Rev. Dan Moss will officiate.
Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Modern Day Veterans Christmas Fund, in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include his companion, Donna Johnston, Lamar; a son, Payton Lassek, Omaha, Neb.; three stepsons, Darrell Leib, Kimballton, Iowa, Billy Cunningham, Mindenmines, and Kevin Cunningham, Iantha; three daughters, Debbie Leib, state of Arizona, Kathy Cunningham, Liberal, and Kim Polega, Corsicana, Texas; a brother, Flo Lassek, Omaha, Neb.; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lassek was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Omaha, Neb., to Valentine and Rose (Rzonca) Lassek.
He had been a resident of the area since 1979.
He served in the Army for 2 1/2 years.
He was warehouse manager of Pitt Plastics in Pittsburg, Kan.
He was president of Modern Day Veterans Chapter 267, a member of the Lamar Elks Lodge No. 2800, and a member of the Teamsters Union.
He married Ila DeWitt on June 6, 1973, in Omaha, Neb.
She died Feb. 24, 1996.

JOY LAMBERSON-KLOCK
SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday), at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, for Joy Lamberson-Klock, 53, Springfield, who died at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003, at her home, after a long illness of ovarian cancer.
Arrangements are under the direction of Walnut Lawn DeGraffenreid-Wood Funeral Home, Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope GYN Cancer Support Group or to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Klock, of the home; her father, Walter Johnson and wife Juanita, Lamar; her stepfather, Vanoy Anderegg, Springfield; a sister, Rose Ann Dalton and husband Steve, Springfield; three sons, Kevin Lamberson and wife Nicola, Clever, Randy Lamberson and wife Dana, Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Dave Lamberson and wife Kristen, Republic; a stepdaughter, Nicole Klock, St. Louis; a stepson, Karl Klock, Springfield, and four grandchildren, Kelsi, Evan, Katie and Kevin.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosetta (Medlin) Anderegg.
Mrs. Lamberson-Klock was born May 8, 1950, in Lamar, to Walter and Rosetta (Medlin) Johnson.
She was a certified financial planner with American Express Financial Advisors for many years, until her retirement in 2001.
Before that she was in retail management and purchasing with Heers, JC Penney and Famous Barr.
She was founder of the New Hope GYN Cancer Support Group, after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July of 2000, in order to provide support and educational services to other women with GYN cancers in the area.
She was a member of Southeast Rotary, where she received the 2003 "Volunteer of the Year" award.
She served as a past board member of the Family Violence Center.
She was the recipient of the "2003 Woman of the Year" award given by Today’s Woman magazine for her work with New Hope.
She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

NANCY COMBS
GOLDEN CITY - Services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday), at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lockwood, for Nancy Lee Hollander Combs, 56, who died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at her home near Golden City, after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Pastor Gary Griffin will officiate.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in Golden City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pugh Funeral Home, Golden City.
Pallbearers will be nephews Steve Nash, David Nash, Mike Owen, Chris Owen, David Mason, John Newton, Todd Connaway and Mark Crisp.
Ministry of music was provided by Terry and Jan Hedeman, David Haubein and Sue Sparkman, with Diane Meyer accompanying.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church choir or the school at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, or the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Combs; a son, David Combs, and a daughter, Valerie Combs, all of the home; a sister, Pat Nash and husband Bill, Carmel, Ind.; a brother, Tom Hollander and wife Georgie, Wasilla, Alaska; a sister, Sharon Owen and husband Charlie, Mt. Vernon; a sister-in-law, Connie Crist and husband Lew, Wildwood, and her mother-in-law, Sarah Combs, Golden City.
Mrs. Combs was born Dec. 8, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Theodore and Josephine (Wittmaack) Hollander.
She and her family moved to southwest Missouri in 1950.
She attended Walt Disney Elementary, Mt. Vernon Elementary, Kickapoo Elementary, Jarrett Middle School, and graduated from Springfield Parkview in 1964.
She attended Drury University.
She moved to Golden City in 1977.
She worked in the banking industry throughout her life, and spent 10 years as the manager of the Bank of America in Lockwood.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, where she participated in the choir.
She was treasurer of the Dade County Relay For Life, and was involved in the Golden City School’s booster club and PTO.
She married Tom Combs in 1977.

WILLIS H. FOWLER
SHELDON - Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, at the First Christian Church in Sheldon, for Willis Hadley Fowler, 93, Sheldon, who died Monday night, Dec. 2, 2002, at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lamar, following an illness of a few months.
Revs. Harold Fowler and Harold Starbuck officiated.
Burial was in Sheldon Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ozark Christian College, Joplin, or Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, Tenn., in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Fowler of Lamar; a son, Harold Fowler, Matelica, Italy; a daughter, Alice Marilyn Wilkins, St. Paul's, NC; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd and Beverly Fowler, both of Sheldon, and a sister, Althea Humphrey, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Mr. Fowler was born Dec. 11, 1908, in Sheldon, to Edward Garfield and Matilda Jane (Beisly) Fowler.
He was reared in the Sheldon area, and attended the Ferry School as a youth.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Sheldon.
He spent more than 70 years in the Christian ministry; conducted three radio ministries in Texas, Kansas and Arkansas; served a brief chaplaincy in the Oklahoma State Senate; conducted more than 300 revival meetings and held pastorates from Virginia to Texas; spent 23 years in Oklahoma; was a mountain missionary for four years in the Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky and Virginia; authored five books; was co-founder of Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City, Okla., and college evangelist and part-time instructor for that institution for three years.
He married Reta Fawn Jones on Aug. 5, 1930, in Adrian.
She died Sept. 24, 1963.
He later married Fontella Maxine Roland on July 2, 1964, in Jerico Springs.

JAY W. ISENHOWER
HARLINGEN, Texas - A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo., for Jay W. Isenhower, 80, Harlingen, formerly of Lamar, Mo., who died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in McAllen.
His niece, Valerie Isenhower, will officiate.
VFW Post 3691 will conduct military honors.
Burial will be at Lake Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the World War II Memorial or Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Norma Jo (Hardenbrook) Isenhower, of the home; a son, John Isenhower, San Antonio; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bob Smith, Festus, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Isenhower, Osawatomie, Kan.; a sister, Donna Rae Woodward, Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jason Smith, Seward, Ark., Ashleigh Smith, St. Louis, Mo., Carlos Isenhower, Kansas City, Mo., and Malcom Isenhower, New Jersey; five great-grandchildren; two nieces and five nephews.
Mr. Isenhower was born July 28, 1922, in Lamar, Mo., to Harley Raymond and Kathryne (Beaman) Isenhower.
He grew up and lived most of his life in Lamar, Mo., moving to Harlingen in 1994.
He was a farmer, pilot, laundryman, a builder and fixer.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Lamar and had served on the Lamar City Council.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was wounded in action in Germany on April 17, 1945, and was awarded a Purple Heart.
He had also served in the 203rd National Guard unit.

CAROL LEE INMAN
BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. - Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, at Lowell Cemetery, rural Baxter Springs, for Carol Lee Inman, 59, rural Baxter Springs, who died at 2:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
Pastor Jeff Davidson officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs.
Survivors include a daughter, Tommie Joe Graves, Kansas City, Mo.; her mother, Margie F. Baggs, Lamar, Mo.; a brother, Larry Baggs, Hartville, Tenn.; two sisters, Dianna Marley, Lamar, Mo., and Barbara Clark, Tucson, Ariz.; and a grandson, Brady Graves, Kansas City, Mo.
Ms. Baggs was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Lamar, Mo., to Dorwin V. and Margie F. (Dinwiddie) Baggs.
She lived her early life in the Lamar area and graduated from Lamar High School in 1961.
She had lived in the Baxter Springs-Lowell area for 40 years, having moved from Lamar, Mo.

DOROTHY H. WYNN
SPRINGFIELD - Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Midtown, 1200 North Boonville, Springfield, for Dorothy H. Wynn, 81, Springfield, who died at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Cox South Medical Center.
Rev. Bob Smiley will officiate.
Burial will be at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Leora Wessling and husband John, Wichita, Kan.; Ileta Galindo and husband Sammy, Pittsburg, Kan.; Harold A. Wynn and wife Sharon, Diamond; Ruth Highfill and husband Freddie, Cape Fair, and Mark A. Wynn and wife Marilyn, San Jose, Calf.; a sister, Anita Crocket and husband Linn, Miller; three brothers, Ray Suiter and wife Leona, Derby, Kan., Gerald Suiter and wife Louise, Lamar, and Donald Suiter and wife Zedna, Vallejo, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Olie Suiter.
Mrs. Wynn was born April 13, 1921, in Iantha, to Charles and Clara (Dickson) Suiter.
She retired from the Greene County Children’s Home where she had served as a house parent.
She was a member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God of Springfield.
She was united in marriage to Harold T. Wynn, who preceded her in death.
