James W. Bean
James William Bean, 58, died June 8, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kirkwood, Mo.
He was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Louisville, Ky., son of the late James W. and Edith (Johnson) Bean.
He was united in marriage to Betty Brown April 13, 1968, and she survives, residing in Piedmont.
Mr. Bean was an inspection mechanic by trade and ran a business working on small engines. He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Piedmont.
He was a baseball fanatic and was involved in the organized play of his grandchildren. He and Betty were involved in Head Start in St. Louis. He had a great love and rapport with children.
Mr. Bean grew up in Evansville, Ind., and had retired to Piedmont.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tina (Mike) Walker, Piedmont, JeAnna (James) Robinson, Poplar Bluff; one nephew, raised as a son, Ben (Doni) Wagner, Piedmont; one brother, Joe Bean, Evansville, Ind.; one sister, Stella Brown, Lanchester, Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Dec. 1, 1920, outside of Bloomfield, Mo., daughter of the late Sam and Bertha (Weaver) Whitson.
She was united in marriage to Harry "Boog" Lankford in 1940, and he preceded her in death September 1996.
Mrs. Lankford was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith.
Mrs. Lankford lived in the Bloomfield community for over 76 years. She had lived in Piedmont since 1996.
She is survived by two daughters, Ada May Wheeler, St. Joseph, Carol Lewis, Piedmont; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Whitson, and one sister, Dorothy Norrell.
Graveside services were held July 7 at Bloomfield Cemetery with Rev. Don Cooper officiating. Pallbearers were Travis, Mark and Leslie Smith, Paul Wheeler, Todd Ruble, Ken Ruble and John Vanderen.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont.

Opal M. Wright
Opal Marie Wright, 81, died Aug. 18, 2005, in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born March 1, 1924, in Olatha, Colo., and he survives, residing in Piedmont.
Mrs. Wright was a former resident of St. Louis, a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Piedmont.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Anita (Johnny) Chalk, O'Fallon; one brother, M.G. Sitze, Fredericktown; three grandchildren, Elaine Stiltz, Christopher (Sarah) Wright, Crystal Chalk; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Hayley and Brittany Stiltz, Kelly Wright.
Preceding her in death was one son, Clyde Dwayne Wright, one grandchild, Amy Jean Wright, and one great-grandchild, Steven Stiltz.
The funeral was held Aug. 20 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Pastor Mark McMullin and Rev. Gene Proffer officiating. Scott Cheshire provided music.
Pallbearers were Denny Sitze, Paul Rhea, Mike Wies, Chris Wright, Gary Thomas and Paul Giesler. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont.

Evelyn L. LoVan
Evelyn Louise "Skeet" LoVan, 80, died Aug. 19, 2005, at her home in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Wichita, Kan., daughter of the late Jack and Ethel (Moore) Stephens.
She married Edward LoVan May 18, 1965, and he survives, residing in Piedmont.
Mrs. LoVan had worked at Town and Country Grocery. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Willilla (Tommy) Evans, Oklahoma City, Okla., Acquanetta (Roger) Davis, Barnett; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont.
