Funeral services were held May 21 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.
Survivors include: his wife Bobbie McGowan of Columbia; daughters, Ellen Jackson of Hattiesburg, Joan Spiers of Summitt and Michelle Morris of Flora; brother D.P. "Pat" McGowan Jr. of Yazoo City; and six grandchildren.

Margaret S. Hanks, 88, of Vicksburg, a former Canton resident, died May 27, 2003, at Heritage House.
A Mass of resurrection was held May 30 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include: his daughter, Kathryne Uzzle of Vicksburg; sons, richard L.Hanks of Vicksburg and Peter W. Hanks of Hattiesburg; seven grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
