Virginia Mae Clay, 72, of Pickens, died August 10, 2004.
Funeral services were held Aug. 16 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Pickens with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: her children, Allene Adams and husband Phillip of Dixon, Calif., Doris Clay and husband Harper of Pickens, Prophetess Herticene Draine and husband Rufus of Pickens, Jerry Clay of Canton, Bishop John E. Clay and wife Irene, Jeanette and the Rev. Melvin Page, and Sylvester Washington, all of Pickens; a granddaughter she reared, Kimberly Cheatham and husband Marlin of Jackson; sisters-in-law, Emma D. Garrett, Catherine Garrett and Helen Garrett, all of Pickens; and 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jerry Wayne Squires Jr.
Canton
Jerry Wayne Squires Jr., 23, of Canton, died Aug. 12, 2004, in an automobile accident on Hwy. 25 in Rankin County.
Funeral services were held Aug. 15 at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with burial in Canton City Cemetery.
Squires was a graduate of Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Fla. He was a sheet metal fabricator with Stevens Sheet Metal in Pearl.
Survivors include: his wife, Brandy Easterling Squires of Canton; his son, Dillion Squires of Canton; his daughter, Savannah Walker of Kissimmee, Fla.; his mother, Jamie Williams Warren of Flowood; his father, Jerry Wayne Squires of Kissimmee; sister, Jamie Danielle Tidwell of Canton; grandparents, Dorothy Williams of Canton and Harold Wayne and Patricia Squires of Kissimmee, Fla.

Eliza Nichols Clerk
Pickens
Eliza Nichols Clerk, 86, of Pickens, died July 30, 2004.
Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Pickens with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: her daughters, Annie B. Winfield and husband Clyde of Phoenix, Ariz., Alean Clayton and husband Joe of Vaughan, Evangelist Doristine Moore and husband Minister Isiah Moore of Jackson, Bernice Davis and Catherine Ousley, both of St. Louis, Mo., Eliza Johnson of Detroit, Mich., and Ruby Wester of Pickens; her sons, Jessie B. Clerk and wife Elaine, Artee Clerk and wife Janice, Arthur Lee Clerk, all of Detroit, Lee Ervin Clerk Sr. and wife Clemetine of Jackson; sisters, Annie Walker and Selena McBride; three grandchildren she raised as her own, Tammy Cole and husband James of Madison, Charles Ousley III and wife Tracey and Bernadette Ousley of St. Louis.

Ronald Dean Lawrence

Ronald Dean Lawrence, 47, of Florence, died August 17, 2004, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held Aug. 19 at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with burial in the Lottville Cemetery.
Mr. Lawrence was a self-employed truck driver. He loved to hunt and cook.
Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Brockway Lawrence of Florence; his sons, Casey Lawrence, Joshua Lawrence and Bradley Lawrence, all of Florence; his parents, David and Connie Lawrence of Canton; his sister, Sandy Griffen of Lena; brothers, Frank Lawrence of Canton, Ricky Lawrence of Raymond and Robbie Lawrence of Jackson; grandmother, Nellie Accaira of El Paso, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ervin Lee 'Pepper' Draine
Canton
Ervin Lee "Pepper" Draine of Canton, 44, died June 30, 2004, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held July 10 at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church in Canton with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: his brothers, Earl C. Draine and Ivory C. Draine, both of Chicago, Rufus Draine and wife Hertistine of Pickens, and Antine Draine of Chicago; sisters, Roxie Bass of Canton, Lizzie Mae Clay of Chicago, Ozzie Bell Draine of Pickens, Isabelle Jackson and husband Earnest , Dorothy Draine and his twin sister, Barbara Ann Draine, all of Chicago; uncle, Onnie Bass and wife Thelma of Canton; and aunt, Mary Draine of Canton.

Elease 'Julie' Lewis

Elease "Julie" Lewis, 73, of Canton, died July 3, 2004.
Funeral services were held July 9 at Family Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with burial in the Methodist Cemetery.
Survivors include: her children, John L. Lewis, Johnnie Ruth Prophet and husband Leo, Nathan Lewis Jr., Brenda Lewis, Billy Ray Lewis, Connie Lewis, Ronnie Lewis and Denise Carter; sisters, Curtiseil Pierce of Chicago, Ill., and Nettlee Grant of Canton; and 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Troy Lamar Brown Jr., 2, of Canton, died July 6, 2004.
Funeral services were held July 10 at Family Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with burial in the Sharon Cemetery.
Survivors include: his parents, Troy and Eva Brown of Canton; brother, Travieon Lamontra Brown of Canton; sisters, Tatyana Elizabeth Smith and Alexis Parker of Canton; grandmothers, Bobbie Ann Bilbrew and Mary Lee Smith, both of Canton, and Joyce Ann Adams of North Carolina; grandfathers, Willie Edward Cowans of Chicago and Donald Bilbrew of Canton; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Brown of Canton and Maylat Carter of New York.

Anna M. 'Polly' Lutz
Canton
Anna M. "Polly" Lutz, 89, of Canton, died July 8, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were held July 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Canton with burial in Canton Cemetery.
Miss Lutz was a graduate of Canton High School and the University of Nebraska. After graduation, she was employed as a dietician in several hospitals. After returning to Canton, she taught school in the Canton Public School System until her retirement.
Survivors include: her sister, Frances Lutz of Canton; brother, Wilson Lutz of Canton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
