Wilson Smith, 84, of Canton died Jan. 26, 2003, at Madison County Medical Center in Canton.
Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at Brookhaven Funeral Chapel with burial in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Survivors include: his wife, Mildred C. Smith of Canton; sons, Haywood Smith of Canton, Jerry Smith of Nola and Edward Smith of Dallas, Texas; brother, Oscar Smith of Loyd Star; sister, Ida Fuller of McComb; and six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Tommy L. Barker Sr., 55, of Madison died Jan. 14, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16 at Nowell-Flippin Funeral Home Chapel in Ridgeland with burial in Garden of Memories in Waterloo, Iowa.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Cook Barber of Madison; sons, Tommy L. Barker Jr. of Shreveport, La., Kevin Heath Barker and Shaun P. Barker, both of Waterloo, Iowa; mother, Wilma Reisor of Greenville, Texas; and brother, Jerry Barker of Greenville, Texas. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kaela Barker, Kameron Barker, Jessica Barker, Savannah Barker and Breanna Barker.

Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Porter, 21, of Flora, died Jan. 12, 2003.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16 at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Lakewood Memorial Park.
Survivors include: her mother, Susan Abernathy of Flora; father and stepmother, Norris and Gayle Porter of Florence; sisters, Jamie Porter of Jackson, Ashley Bedwell of Flora, Kimberly and Samantha Porter, both of Florence; nephew, Jacob Porter of Jackson, maternal grandparents, George E. and Sarah Abernathy of Flora; paternal grandparents, Maureen Porter of Bolton, and Bobby and Ida Porter of Star.

Survivors include: his daughters, Nancy Welch Wilson and husband James B. Wilson Jr. of Houston, Texas; Cindy Welch Bryan and husband William G. Bryan III of Madison; son, Bert A. Welch III and wife Trina Ikerd Welch of Ridgeland; nine grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Welch Bogan and Eleanor Welch Mae of Aberdeen; and a special friend, Sandi Matthews.
