BILOXI - George Hogge Allen, 72, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Biloxi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Hogge Allen and Lucille Schuetz Allen. Survivors include his wife, Norma Jeanne Pries Allen; a son, Timothy J. Allen of Katy, Texas; five daughters, Kathleen A. Caldwell of Houston, Texas, Susan J. Schrader of Lombard, Ill., Bonnie L. Borkowski of Pine, Colo., Judith L. Byrd of Cedar Grove, Tenn., and Nancy B. Williams of Bertram, Texas; three brothers, David W. Allen of West Chicago, Ill., Richard G. Allen of Ogden, Ill., and Larry A. Allen of Englewood, Colo.; two sisters, Peggy L. Gustafson of Belvidere, Ill., and Virginia A. Dempsey of Las Cruces, N.M.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Beauvoir Road in Biloxi where friends may call one hour before service time. PASCAGOULA - Theodore D. "Ted" Baker, 70, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Pascagoula. Mr. Baker was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Rome, Ga., and was retired from the Air Force. He was employed as a chef at Ingalls Shipbuilding Cafeteria and also as a fireman at Ingalls. He was employed as a guard for Southern Guard for several years at the Mississippi Welcome Center. He was a member of the VFW in Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. and Minnie F. Baker; a son; and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Laura Frances Baker of Pascagoula; a son, Daniel Baker of DeBarry, Fla.; two daughters, Marion F. Broom of Long Beach and Carol Jermyn of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Jeanne Byrely of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Nancy Jo Connerly of Cape Coral, Fla.; two brothers, Ralph Baker of Deland, Fla., and Robert "Bob" Baker of Old Town, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A private service will be held. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery. O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula is in charge of arrangements. Johnnie Mae Estell Borzik

LONG BEACH - Johnnie Mae Estell Krebs Borzik passed away at her home Saturday, November 25, 2000, in Long Beach. She was born in Gulfport, February 22, 1919, and was a resident there for 45 years, and moved to Long Beach in 1964. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. As a previous member of St. John's Catholic Church in Gulfport, she was active in the St. John's Mother Club and a friend to the Sisters of Mercy. Mrs. Borzik was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Arthur and Annie Frazier Krebs; four sisters, Leona Torjusen, Louise Kite, Mildred Bardwell, Elma Krebs and Myrtle Hover; and two brothers, Werdna Krebs and Edgar Krebs. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Louis M. Borzik, Sr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Ronald Ezell of Springfield, LA, and Mary Ann and Marvin Jones of Long Beach; three sons and daughters-in-law, Louis Jr. and Gaynell Borzik of Long Beach, Cecil and Marie Borzik of Pass Christian, and David and Dianne Borzik of Yazoo City; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation was Tuesday, November 28, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue in Gulfport. PERKINSTON - J.C. Bradford, 67, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Perkinston. Mr. Bradford was born in Forest and had been a resident of Harrison County for 31 years. He was retired from the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father, Wafer Bradford; his mother, Lilly Bradford; and a brother, Oscar Bradford. Survivors include four sons, Joseph Bradford of Lizana, John Bradford of Monroe, N.C., Steven Bradford of Perkinston and Scott Bradford of Gulfport; a sister, Susie Mae Wheeler of Monroe, La.; a brother, Zeb Bradford of Forest; and seven grandchildren. OCEAN SPRINGS - Katherine F. Brown, 71, of Ocean Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Brown was a lifelong resident of the Coast. She was a retired glass cleaner with Ferson Optics in Ocean Springs. She was a member of F.M.C.A. and the Gulf Pines Good Sam Club. She was of the Lutheran faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Belle Flowers. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jenice Kay "Kitty" and Jim Gardner of San Antonio, TX; a son and daughter-in-law, William L. and Jeanette M. Mr. Chatham worked for Soule Steam Feed Works for 55 years where he started out as a teenage helper and retired as vice president. He was active for many years in Highland Baptist Church as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and church clerk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Chatham. LONG BEACH - Donald William Edgington, age 77 and a resident of Long Beach, MS, died Tuesday, November 28, 2000, in Gulfport, MS. Mr. Edgington, a native of Mount Gilead, Ohio, was a member of the Church of Christ in Gulfport, and was retired from the U.S. Army. He was with the 37th Infantry Division of the Ohio National Guard when it was activated in 1941 and served in South America during World War II. In 1945, he went to Officer's Candidate School, and was with the Field Artillery Division during the Korean War and later in Alaska. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1960 with the rank of major. He and his family returned to Long Beach following his retirement, and he later retired from the International Longshoreman's Local 1303. Mr. Edgington was preceded in death by his parents, William and Geneva Edgington; his first wife, Betty Jane Edgington; and a sister, Ruth Edgington. Survivors include his wife, Arlene Clinton Edgington of Long Beach; a daughter, Cathy Mansell of Brandon, MS; a stepdaughter, Deborah Sexton of El Dorado, AR; stepsons, Ronnie Reyer of Pass Christian and Woody Reyer of Arcadia, Texas; a brother, Richard Edgington of Wichita, KS; two grandsons, Patrick and Jonathan Mansell of Brandon; and five step-grandchildren. GULFPORT - Ruth Stokes, 83, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Gulfport. Mrs. Stokes was a native of Lyman and a resident of Gulfport for the past 60 years. She was a registered nurse and was formerly employed with the Veterans Administration in Biloxi. She was a member of Mississippi City United Methodist Church in Gulfport where she was a member of the Rebecca Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin Stokes; her parents, Deedry F. and Delpha Stokes; a brother, Son Coleman; and three sisters, Ruby Coleman, Penny Choat and Lula Peterman. Survivors include three daughters, Diana S. Page, Gail S. Haslup and Patricia A. Stokes, all of Gulfport; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Steve Ragland Wilson Jr.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Handsboro Presbyterian Church.
GULFPORT - Steve Ragland Wilson, Jr., age 79, and a native and lifelong resident of Handsboro, MS, died Monday, November 27, 2000. Steve was a 1939 graduate of Gulfport High School and a 1943 graduate of Mississippi State University. He went immediately into the U.S. Army and was assigned to Co. E. 310th Infantry Battalion - 78th Infantry (Lightning) Division at Fort Pickett, VA. He was then sent to Bournmouth, England, and was in combat in Simmera, and Bickerath, Germany. Captured in the Battle of the Bulge, he received the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service in Combat. His POW days were spent near Chemnitz. On VE Day 1 the POW's were flown to the General Hospital in Rheims, where he was detained for a month before being sent on the hospital ship Arcadia to Camp Butler Convalescent Hospital in NC where he was discharged in September 1945. On his return, he was employed at the Gulfport Creosoting Company. Later, he and his partner Pickett Randall established Treated Materials Company. In 1988 he was named Elder Emeritus of the Handsboro Presbyterian Church, in 1989 he married Mrs. Carolyn Cofield, and later spent his retirement years doing community services and church work. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen R. Wilson Sr., and Ivy Loposer Wilson; a brother, Hugh Beverly Wilson; and a nephew, Eric Warshaw. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn M. Wilson; two sisters, Sybil W. Fant and Dona W. Warshaw; a iece, Janice Fant Carpenter; four nephews, Dr. A.E. Fant III, Richard Fant, Dr. Mark Warshaw and Bill Warshaw; three stepsons, David, Dion, and John Rains; three step-grandchildren, Brittany, Payne, and Kira Rains. Visitation will be at the Handsboro Presbyterian Church from 6 to 8 tonight and 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Handsboro Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport. Memorials may be made to Handsboro Presbyterian Church, 1304 E. Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507. Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue, Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.

NEW ORLEANS - Emile Woods, age unavailable, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Woods; and a brother, Aldolph Anderson. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Piernars of Pass Christian; three brothers, Wellington Phillips of Los Angeles, Leo Sherman and Clarence Baptiste; three sisters, Rose W. Reed, Hilda Clark and Doris Anderson; and four grandchildren. A service will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 4230 South Board St., New Orleans, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home in New Orleans is in charge of arrangements.
