Russell G. Ramage
Mr. Russell G. Ramage, 91, of Gulfport, died Wednesday, December 17, 1997, in Gulfport.
Mr. Ramage was born March 31, 1906, in Youngstown, Ohio, and had been a longtime resident of Gulfport. In 1972, he retired from the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport as Special Services Director with over 35 years of federal service. His collegiate career included football scholarships to Shephardstown University, William and Mary University and Youngstown State University. After receiving his Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education he enlisted and advanced to the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force. He served as the physical training officer at Gulfport Air Field and Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi. On May 7, 1996, City of Gulfport proclaimed "Russell G. Ramage Day" to honor him for his many years of devoted service in the field of recreation that established a youth sports program which contributed to the quality of life for families along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the City of Gulfport.
Survivors include his wife, Laura B. Ramage; three sons, Wallace "Wally" Ramage, Clayton Ramage, Russell "Rusty" Ramage; three daughters-in-law, Pam Duckworth Ramage, La Wanda Ramage, Mary "Kitty" Ramage, all of Gulfport; eight grandchildren, Kim Burkenwald of St. Louis, MO, Kevin Ramage, Amber Ramage, Fallon Ramage, Russell "Tras" Ramage, Christopher Ramage, Scott Carriere, Brian Carriere and one great-grandchild, Merideth "Regan" Carriere, all of Gulfport.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 1997, at Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 1997, from the Riemann Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Coalville Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Mitchell Vead
Mitchell Vead, 58, of Bay St. Louis, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997.
Mr. Vead was a native of New Orleans and is known through Windsock Video, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Adina Chatelain; his father, Mitchell Vead Sr.; and daughter, Peggy Vead.
Survivors include his significant other, Karen Gravois; daughters, Susan Dimmett and Shirley Massey; one son, Lionel Vead; daughter-in-law, Cheri Lynn Vead; sons-in-law, Jim Dimmett and Jack Massey; grandchildren, Erik Dimmett, Jared Dimmett, Cody Dimmett, Jason Massey, Amber Lynn Vead and Lance Vead; one sister, Faye Naquin; and one brother, David Vead.
All friends and family are invited to attend the memorial party as per Mitch's request to pass a good time. The memorial party will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 1997, at Metairie Manor, 4929 York St., Metairie, La.

Frederick Andrews
BILOXI - Frederick Andrews, 61, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, in Biloxi.
Mr. Andrews was a native of Repton, Ala., and was a longtime resident of the Coast. He was a member of the North Biloxi Moose Lodge and a Baptist. He was formerly employed with the Biloxi Port Commission for 10 years.
Survivors include a sister, Joyce Owens of Keithville, La.; and two brothers, Harold Andrews of Brooksville, Fla., and Douglas Andrews of Brewton, Ala.
Private graveside services will be held at Bermuda Cemetery in Bermuda, Ala. Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.

BILOXI - Julia B. Jackson, 97, 411 Santa Maria Village Retirement Home, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, in Biloxi.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Vancleave and was a former member of the Old Zion Missionary Baptist Church of New Orleans. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church of Biloxi where she served in the senior mission auxiliary and the senior choir. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughter of Universal McKinley Chapel #19.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include three sisters, Fannie B. Jones, Essie B. White and Margarette B. Jeffries, all of Biloxi.
A service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Biloxi with burial in the Biloxi Cemetery. Dickey Bros.-Chambers Bros. Funeral Services in Biloxi is in cahrge of arrangements.

GULFPORT - Tom Carmichael, 71, of 325-E Central Ave., died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, in Wiggins.
Mr. Carmichael was a native of Laurel and lived in Pass Christian for 28 years. He had lived in Wiggins since 1969 and was an elderly helper in the Wiggins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Carmichael Sr. and Hattie Carmichael.
Survivors include two sons; two sisters, Sara Jane Carmichael and Susie Mae Carmichael; and two brothers, Geroge Carmichael and Carlos Carmichael, all of Laurel.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Wiggins. A service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Paulding with burial in the church cemetery. Lockett-Williams Mortuary in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.

John Demoruelle
ST. MARTIN - John "J.C." Demoruelle, 72, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, in Biloxi.
Mr. Demoruelle was born in Biloxi and was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in D'Iberville. He served three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served time in the Asiatic Pacific. He was retired from F & F Distributing Co. in Biloxi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Louise Demoruelle.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Demoruelle; three stepsons, Clay Caillavet, Marc Caillavet, Garth Caillavet, all of North Biloxi; a sister, Marion Henley; a brother, Fred Demoruelle, both of Biloxi; six step-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Mr. Demouelle's body was donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Private interment will be at a later date.
Robert Anthony Hines
GAUTIER - Robert Anthony "Bob" Hines, 60, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, in Gautier.
Mr. Hines was born May 1, 1937, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and was an electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie S. Hines; a son, Robert J. "Bobby" Hines, both of Gautier; a stepdaughter, Ellen McIntyre of Ocean Springs; and two grandsons.
There will be a private family service held at a later date. Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point is in charge of arrangements.
Paul Newman Watson
MOSS POINT - Paul Newman Watson, 60, of the Wade Community, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, in Wade.
Mr. Watson was retired as a self-employed carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Wade Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John O. Watson and Kathryn Davis Watson; and a brother, Thomas H. Watson.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine T. Watson of Wade; four daughters, Denise Nusko, Alisa Goff and Christy Watson, all of Wade, and Alisha Murrary of Helena; three sons, Paul Watson of Vancleave, James G. Watson of Wade, and Shane Humphreys of Pennsylvania; seven brothers, John O. Watson, Eugene Watson, James H. Watson, Allen Watson, Glenn Watson, Douglas Watson, and Danny Watson; two sisters, Cora Baum and Katherine Harris Crum; and six granchildren.
A service will be at 8 p.m. Monday at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point where friends may call two hours before service time.
Evelyn Marie Shirk
OCEAN SPRINGS - Evelyn Marie Shirk, 85, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Shirk had been a lifelong resident of Biloxi and was a member of Nativity Church in Biloxi.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Shirk of Biloxi; a daughter, Donna King of Ocean Springs; a son, Darryl Shirk of Biloxi; five grandchldren; and two great-grandchildren.
A service will be at 11 a.m. today at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
Walter Gaston Groves Jr.
VANCLEAVE - Walter Gaston "Buddy" Groves Jr., 60, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Groves was born June 18, 1933, in Vancleave and was a heavy equipment operator with Holden's Construction Company. He was an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Groves; and two grandchildren, Leslie Laura Hamilton and Sherry Cauble.
Survivors include four sons, Raymond Earl Groves, William Gaston Groves, George Monroe Groves, John Ira Groves, all of Vancleave; eight daughters, Clyde Renee' Thompson of Franklin Creek, Norma Jean Overstreet of Mt. Olive, Levonda K. Hamilton of Wade, Debbie Gail Groves, Lisa Diane Varnado, Shirley Rebecca "Becky" Groves, Choice Ann Smith and Kelly Michelle Groves, all of Vancleave; sisters, Joe Renee' Pittman of Houma, La., and Joyce "Dude" Bingham of Vancleave; 34 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 until tonight at Magnolia Baptist Church in Vancleave. A service will be at 9 a.m. Sunday at the church with burial in the church cemetery. Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point is in charge of arrangements.
Louise L. Lynch
VANCLEAVE - Louise L. Lynch, 70, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Lynch was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Maline Ladner; and a brother, Curtis E. Ladner.
Survivors include a daughter, Margie Kibbey of Gulfport; a son, Robert H. "Johnny Eagle" Smith; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
