Barbara Callahan

Funeral services: Graveside at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salt Lake Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah.

DIAMONDHEAD - Barbara Taylor Callahan, 70, of Diamondhead, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in New Orleans, LA.

Mrs. Callahan was a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, and was a member of Diamondhead Community Church. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge groups.

She was preceded in death by her father, Spencer C. Taylor.

Survivors include her husband, P.H. "Mike" Callahan of Diamondhead; her mother, Stell Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Kim Griggs of Biloxi; three brothers, Robert Taylor of Renton, Wash., Gary Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah, and David Taylor of Smithfield, Utah; and four grandchildren, Brad Griggs, Brian Griggs, Amy Griggs and Laura Griggs, all of Biloxi.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Salt Lake Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah. A local memorial service will be held at a later date. Riemann Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis is in charge of arrangements.

The family prefers memorial contributions to Diamondhead Community Church.

Chester A. Comeaux

Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church.

GULFPORT - Chester A. Comeaux, 71, of Gulfport, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Biloxi.

Mr. Comeaux was a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a civil engineer with KAFB. He was a Chief Official with MS State Athletic Commission. He was a charter member of Biloxi Elk's 606 where he served as Exalted Ruler on two different occasions, he was a member of P.E.R. and served on the Graveside Ritual Team. He served on the Board of Trustees for five years. He was a member of North American Boxing Federation and was a member of Southern ABF Officials Hall of Fame in 1993. He was Southern ABF Junior Olympics 1940 Champion 82 lbs. weight class. Mr. Comeaux was associated with amateur boxing for 63 years. Mr. Comeaux had over 300 amateur bouts and lost only 12 in a career which spanned over 14 years. Mr. Comeaux won the State Championship in his weight division for four years while representing Biloxi High School. He also won six consecutive Golden Glove titles and Navy Olympic Champ following World War II. He was a boxing coach. He then entered professional boxing officiating where he officiated many world class bouts. He was a former King Athena Carnival Association.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Comeaux; a sister, Dorothy Poulas Gates; and a brother, David Comeaux.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Taliancich Comeaux of Gulfport; four daughters, Penny Comeaux of Irving, TX; four stepdaughters, Valerie Martino, Helen Fayard and Beth Bailey, all of Ocean Springs, and Lana Richard of Dallas, Connecticut and Jeannie Brumbaugh of St. Martin; six grandchildren, Renee' Comeaux, Rocquel Ransonet, Tyson Ransonet, Danielle LeDoux, Amber Milan and Noah Milan; and nine step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 12, 1998, from 6 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. A procession will leave the funeral home at 1:10 p.m. Monday, July 13, 1998, for a Mass at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.

Dr. John Stevens Cotten

Funeral services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Riemann Funeral Home Chapel, 25th Avenue in Gulfport.

GULFPORT - John Stevens Cotten, D.D.S., retired dentist and anesthesiologist and a resident of Gulfport, died Friday, July 10, 1998, in Gulfport.

Dr. Cotten was born August 15, 1918, in Jackson, and graduated from Loyola University School of Dentistry in New Orleans in 1943. He moved to the Coast in 1945 where he practiced dentistry and anesthesiology for 37 years prior to retiring in 1981. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army and served in World War II in the European Theater of Operation. Dr. Cotten was a former affiliate member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, a life member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, a life member of the American Dental Association, and the Mississippi Coast Jazz Society, and Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport. Dr. Cotten's love of music was shared by many all along the Coast. He played Dixieland music for many years and was a member of the RSVP's Seniors Too Jazz Band.

Dr. Cotten was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Asa L. Cotten, and a brother, Lewis S. Cotten.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna Binion "A.B." White Cotten; a son, Dr. J. Stevens Cotten Jr. of Gulfport; two daughters, Julie Cotten Daughdrill of Gulfport, and Ginny Cotten Roberts of Jackson; a sister, Emily Cotten Law of Long Beach; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday with the funeral at 3 p.m. at the Riemann Funeral Home, 25th Avenue in Gulfport. A graveside service will be at 5 p.m. in the City of Poplarville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 5007 Lawson Avenue, Gulfport MS 39507, or the International Health Service, 5727 West 36th Street, St. Louis Park MN 55416.

Harry C. Cutler

Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Meridian.

MERIDIAN - Mr. Harry C. Cutler, 87, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at the V.A. Medical Center in Biloxi.

Born in Bridgeport, Conn., Mr. Cutler was a longtime resident of Meridian. He graduated from the University of Mississippi State University.

In 1977, Mr. Cutler retired as the administrator of Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian. Prior to coming to Meridian he was a hospital administrator in Okolona, West Point and Kosciusko.

Mr. Cutler was a veteran of World War II where he was listed as missing in action (MIA) and was a prisoner of war (POW) held in a German prison camp. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.

Mr. Cutler was active in many civic activities in Meridian and Lauderdale County since 1954. He was a past president of the Thompson Cutler in 1977 and two sisters, Marge Joyce of Topeka, Kansas, and Dot McGuffie of Morristown, Calif., Richard Brown of Huntsville, Ala., and Mike Brown of Nashville, Tenn. He has a number of step-grand and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday July 13, 1998, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Meridian with burial at 3 p.m. Monday at Buena Vista Cemetery in Chickasaw County. Visitation will be Sunday, July 12, 1998, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1116 23rd Ave., Meridian MS.

Carroll Glindmeyer

BAY ST. LOUIS - Carroll "C.E." Glindmeyer, 67, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, of congestive heart failure at Ochsner Foundation Hospital.

Mr. Glindmeyer was a native of New Orleans, LA, and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for thirty-nine years. He graduated from Warren Easton High School and attended Southwestern Business College. He was the developer of Shoreline Park, Rolling Hills and Highland Acres subdivisions in California Concept chain of hair salons. He was a former member of the Krewe of Bacchus in New Orleans. Mr. Glindmeyer was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Carrie Heid Glindmeyer and a granddaughter, Taylor Glindmeyer Crockett.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Babuchna Glindmeyer of Bay St. Louis; two daughters, Daphne A. Glindmeyer, M.D., and her husband, John Tobler of New Orleans, and Stacey L. Glindmeyer, J.D., and her husband, Hayes Crockett of New Orleans; a son, Carroll E. Glindmeyer Jr., and wife, Theresa Faulkenberry Glindmeyer of New Orleans; two brothers, Henry Glindmeyer and Norman Glindmeyer, both of New Orleans; and one very special grandson, Chase Crockett.

A memorial service was held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Interment was in All Saints Mausoleum at Lake Lawn Cemetery in New Orleans.

In memory of Carroll Glindmeyer, a charitable fund has been established through the Louisiana State University Medical Center's division of Law and Psychiatry. This fund was established by family friends who wanted to highlight Mr. Glindmeyer's emphasis on the importance of education.

Herman Dennis Himel Jr.

HAMMOND, La. - Herman Dennis "H.D." Himel Jr., 79, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Hammond.

Mr. Himel was a native of Hammond and was the co-founder of Himel Auto Parts. He was a member of the Exchange Club, Hammond Rotary Club, charter member of Oak Knoll Country Club, charter member of the Louisiana Automobile Wholesale Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman D. Himel and Gladys Bourgeois Himel; and a sister, Cora Mae Kuyrkendall.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Ginn Himel of Hammond; a son, H.D. "Denny" Himel III, of Hammond; three daughters, Elaine H. Gault of Katy, Ohio, and was self-employed in the retail business. He was an Army veteran and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jerome H. and Olivia M. Mefford of Picayune; a stepson, James Mike of Holden, La.; two stepsisters, Nancy Hickman of Texas; a brother, Hollen Cuevas of Pass Christian; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. today at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.

The family prefers memorials to the South MS Kidney Center, Endowment Fund, 4300 A.W. Railroad St., Gulfport, MS 39501.

Carlia Seymour

PASCAGOULA - Carlia Seymour, 35, died Friday, July 10, 1998, in Pascagoula.

Arrangements are incomplete at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs.

Eddie M. Talley

Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.

BILOXI - Eddie M. Talley, 82, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Biloxi.

Mr. Talley was a resident of the community for the past 20 years and had been a resident of Lake Pannasosskee, Fla., before moving to Biloxi in January. He was a retired Navy veteran of World War II and was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemay Talley of Biloxi; and a sister, Neola Ford of Columbia.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Elbert Todd

Funeral services: Graveside at 2 p.m. Monday at Biloxi National Cemetery.

DECATUR, Ga. - Elbert "Don" Todd, age unavailable, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Decatur.

Mr. Todd served in the Air Force from 1959 until 1986 when he retired as Captain. He was employed with Dekalb County Texas, and Robert Harris of Biloxi; a brother, David Todd of Conway, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home in Decatur is in charge of arrangements.

The family prefers memorials to the charity of one's choice.

Socorro Munoz Aquino

Funeral: Graveside services 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Free Church of God Cemetery in Gulfport.

GULFPORT - Socorro Munoz Aquino, 89, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, in Gulfport.

Mrs. Aquino was a native of Sonora, Mexico, and a former longtime resident of Tucson, Ariz. She had been a resident of the Coast for seven years. She was of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Santos Aquino.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Bond of Gulfport; two sisters, Erlinda Lopez and Dolores Canez, both of Tucson, Ariz.; and a grandchild.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Free Church of God Cemetery in Gulfport. Riemann Funeral Home US 49 North in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Lee Arnold

BAY ST. LOUIS - Robert Lee Arnold, 17, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, in Bay St. Louis.

Florita Reed Cruthirds

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport.

GULFPORT - Florita Reed "Ree Ree" Cruthirds, 77, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, in Gulfport.

Mrs. Cruthirds was a native of Texas, Elaine Cooper, Terry and Finley Hewes and Debbie and Bob Walker, all of Gulfport; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport, where friends may call an hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport. Riemann Funeral Home 25th Avenue in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Thomas Henry DeBord

LONG BEACH - Rev. Thomas Henry DeBord, 77, died Saturday, July 3,1999, in Gulfport.

Hubert Noel Dedeaux

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riemann Funeral Home 25th Avenue Chapel.

GULFPORT- Hubert Noel Dedeaux, 77, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, in Gulfport.

Mr. Dedeaux was a native of Wiggins and had been a resident of the Coast for 70 years. He had been with the Gulfport Fire Department for 20 years before retiring. He coached Pee Wee football for St. John's Elementary School for five years. He was a graduate of Gulfport High School, where he played football. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Ellender Dedeaux; his parents, Homer and Ida Mason Dedeaux; a son, Charles Ray Dedeaux; two brothers, Charles and Herbert Dedeaux; and a sister, Catherine Kennon.

Survivors include a brother, Homer Ray Dedeaux of Gulfport; two grandchildren, Lauren Dedeaux of Hot Springs, Ark., and John Dedeaux of Edmond, Okla.; and two great-grandchildren, Charles Christian Dedeaux of Hot Springs and Austin Ray Dedeaux of Edmond.

A visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Riemann Funeral Home 25th Avenue in Gulfport. A service will be 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach.

BILOXI - Steven B. Hatch, 40, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, in Biloxi.

Mr. Hatch was born in Little Rock, Ark., and had been a resident of Biloxi since 1971. He was a pharmacist at the Sav-A-Center in Orange Grove and Ocean Springs. He was a 1976 graduate of Biloxi High School and a graduate of the University of Calif.; and two sisters, Deborah Hatch of D'Iberville and Donna Hatch-Conklin and her husband, Gene, and their children, of Temecula, Texas, Allen Vann of Magnolia, Ark., and Ardell Vann of Fouke; and two grandchildren.

A service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kenwood Missionary Baptist Church in Gulfport. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport is in charge of the arrangements.

BILOXI - Arthur Paul Taranto, 26, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, in Pascagoula.

Deane Commander Williams

Funeral: 11 a.m. today at the Pass Road Chapel of the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.

BILOXI - Deane Commander Williams, 78, died Friday, July 2, 1999, in Gulfport.

Mrs. Williams was born in Aberdeen and had been a resident of Biloxi for the past four years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Biloxi and was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Jackson. She was past president of the American Business Women's Club in Jackson and a docent at the Governor's Mansion. She served as a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson and was very active in political campaigns.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Duey Williams.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Laird and her husband, Jackie, of Biloxi; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A service will be 11 a.m. today at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi, where friends may call from 9:30 until service time. A 5 p.m. graveside service will be held at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Aberdeen.
