Robert Michael Bates

GULFPORT - Robert Michael Bates, 15, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in New Orleans.

Robert was a native of Arnold, Mo., and a resident of the Gulf Coast for the past two years. He was a student at North Gulfport 7th and 8th Grade School and was a Catholic.

Survivors include his mother, Tony M. Mullens; two brothers, Nicholas Smith and Mathew Smith, all of Gulfport; and his grandmother, Lucille "Nana" Mullins of St. Louis.

Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.

Effie Belvin

OCEAN SPRINGS - Mrs. Effie Belvin, 87, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Belvin was sent from the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi to Scottsboro Funeral Home in Scottsboro, Ala., for services and burial.

Elizabeth Bryant

Funeral: Graveside at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Biloxi National Cemetery.

WAVELAND - Elizabeth Lingle Bryant, 76, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Waveland.

Mrs. Bryant was a native of Lenoir, N.C., and was a longtime resident of Waveland. She was a Baptist and attended First Assembly of God Church in Gulfport. She was a member of the American Legion Post 77 Auxiliary in Waveland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Bryant; her parents, Roy Lee and Minnie Shatley Lingle; and a brother, Roy Lingle.

Survivors include two sons, Billy R. Bryant of Waveland and Jimmy Ray Bryant of Great Falls, Mont.; a sister, Ruth Williams of Hickory, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis with an American Legion Post 77 Auxiliary service at 10:30. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 at Biloxi National Cemetery.

Marie Bryant

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Moss Point.

ESCATAWPA - Mrs. Marie Waltman Bryant, 62, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Pascagoula.

Mrs. Bryant was born Nov. 3, 1937, in Vancleave and was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Waltman.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Bryant of Escatawpa; two daughters, Rose Marie Martin of Escatawpa and Beverly Ann Douell of Pascagoula; her mother, Margaret Waltman of Vancleave; two sisters, Ola Mae Holland of Saucier and Doris Jean Perry of Escatawpa; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. A service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Four Mile Creek Cemetery in Escatawpa.

Pearl Carter

Funeral: Noon Thursday at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home Chapel in Bay St. Louis.

NEW ORLEANS - Pearl Garcia Langenbacker Carter, 89, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in New Orleans.

Mrs. Carter was a native of Bay St. Louis and a resident of New Orleans. She was a Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John S. and Inez F. Perronne Garcia Sr.; three brothers, Earl Garcia, George Garcia and Elvin Garcia; a sister, Hazel Garcia Brune; and a grandson, David Allen Langenbacker.

Survivors include a son, Frank J. Langenbacker of Waveland; two brothers, Morris Garcia of Waveland and Sidney Garcia Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Mary Fricke, Margaret Bourgeois and Frances Bilbo, all of Waveland, and Elizabeth Melton of DeLisle; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A service will be at noon Thursday at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home Chapel in Bay St. Louis where friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.

G.P. Cruthirds

Funeral: Memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Ocean Springs Civic Center.

OCEAN SPRINGS - Mr. G.P. "Pat" Cruthirds, 75, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Ocean Springs.

Mr. Cruthirds was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was the retired former owner of Cruthirds Air Conditioning.

Survivors include his wife, Rhoda "Bubbles" Cruthirds of Latimer; two sons, Nathan Cruthirds of Mexico City, Mexico, and Joel Cruthirds of Okolona; a brother, Erie Cruthirds of Latimer; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Ocean Springs Civic Center. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.

The family prefers memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 16 Northtown Dr., Suite 100, Jackson, MS 39211 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6358, Gulfport, MS 39506.

Adrian Dodson

GULFPORT - Mr. Adrian Dodson, 81, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Biloxi.

Arrangements are incomplete at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, Beauvoir Road, Biloxi.

Ellen Louise Evans

Funeral: 9:30 a.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel and memorial service at 3 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Pass Christian.

PASS CHRISTIAN - Mrs. Ellen Louise Evans, 81, a native of Laurel, and a lifelong resident of Pass Christian, was born on June 27, 1918, and died on Sunday, April 16, 2000.

"Granny Mac," the "Lady Who Listens," with a giving, loving and youthful spirit, will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel. Burial will be Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel. The Rev. Bernard Shamp will officiate.

She is survived by a daughter, Ethel Jeannette (Jeannie) Burnam of Dallas, TX; two granddaughters, Cathy Atchley of Dallas, TX, and Eleanor Dean of Houston, TX; and a brother, Clarence R. McKee of Dallas, TX.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, Sampson A. Evans in 1983.

There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 526 East Second Street in Pass Christian, where she was a longtime member.

Memorials may be made to the Heart Association or to her church.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Georgette Hebert

Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.

BILOXI - Mrs. Georgette Hebert, 75, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Biloxi.

Mrs. Hebert was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer W. Hebert of Biloxi; a daughter, Gracie Ann Walters of Saucier; two sisters, Lucille Bosarge and Amelia Bosarge, both of Bayou LaBatre, Ala.; a brother, Harold Bosarge of St. Elmo, Ala.; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi with recitation of the rosary at 6:30. A service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Biloxi National Cemetery.

Cory Carlton Howze

Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at Riemann Funeral Home Chapel in Long Beach.

GULFPORT - Cory Carlton Howze, age 7 and a resident of Gulfport, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in New Orleans, LA.

Cory was born in Gulfport, was an honor roll student at Lyman Elementary School, and played soccer for A & E Electric Chargers.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Carlton Howze.

Survivors include his parents, Blaine and Lisa Howze; a brother, Jarred Howze, all of Gulfport; grandparents, Barbara and William E. Spradley, and Robert and Rose France, all of Long Beach.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight, Wednesday, April 19, at Riemann Funeral Home in Long Beach. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, followed by burial in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach.

Rita M. Hudson

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport.

GULFPORT - Mrs. Rita M. Hudson, 70, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Gulfport.

Mrs. Hudson was a native of Donaldsonville, La., and attended high school there. She was a longtime Gulf Coast resident and was a homemaker. She was a Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hudson Sr.; and her parents, Edward and Louise Martinez.

Survivors include a son, Harry Hudson Jr. of Saucier; three daughters, Patricia Henson of Springfield, Mo., Linda Dobson of Gulfport, and Kathleen Bigot of Lyman; two brothers, Joseph E. Martinez of Baton Rouge and Henry Martinez of Mobile; two sisters, Anne Lestelle of Chalmette, La., and Marie Stephens of Garland, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport. A service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with burial in Biloxi National Cemetery.

Laree King

Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Apache, Okla.

PASS CHRISTIAN - Laree Elespa King, 98, of Pass Christian, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Pass Christian at Dixie White House Nursing Home.

Mrs. King was born June 1, 1901, in Gainesville, MO, and came to Oklahoma by covered wagon at age four. She married William J. "Bill" King on June 20, 1921.

The Farmerette Club originated in her home in 1938 and she remained an active member until she moved to Mississippi in 1990. Mrs. King was a charter member of Alathean Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, Apache, Oklahoma, and taught Sunday School for over fifty-four years. She had written several short stories that have been published and was well-known for her poetry.

In 1981 she was selected Outstanding Senior Citizen at the Apache Senior Nutrition Center, having been chosen over all other entries in an eight county area. In 1989 she was awarded first place with trophy and award in the Penman's Guild Oklahoma Heritage Writing Contest.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Bill King; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Sims; brothers, Everett Sims and Phil Sims; sisters, Onvia Sims Miller, Eunice Sims Hayes, Elsie Sims Mitchell, and Hazel Sims Bragg; and two infant sons, Paul Wayne King and Lloyd Raymond King.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Marilyn King of Long Beach; a sister-in-law, Bertha Hall of Anadarko, OK; two grandchildren, Brenda King Jones and her husband, Bill, of Joshua, TX, and Roger King of Ft. Worth, Texas; one stepgreat-grandson, Zachary Jones of Joshua, TX; nineteen ieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. King was sent from Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport to Crews Funeral Home in Apache, OK, for a funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Apache. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Apache.

Barbara Jean Lee

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church in Picayune.

PICAYUNE - Barbara Jean Lee, 69, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Picayune.

Mrs. Lee was a native of Moscow, Kan., and was a homemaker. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Picayune.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell W. Lee of Hayden, Ala., and Steven E. Lee of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Lynda J. Mendoza of Gila Bend, Ariz., and Evelyn D. Trujillo of Phoenix; a brother, Stephen Dowdle; a sister, Betty Klepper of Washington, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Picayune Funeral Home. A service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in Caesar Cemetery in Picayune.

Frank V. Martin

Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport.

GULFPORT - Mr. Frank V. Martin, 76, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Gulfport.

Mr. Martin was a native of Marion County and a resident of the Gulf Coast for most of his life. He was retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as a rigger after 30 years of service. He served in the Army and Air Force during World War II. He was a carrier for the Daily Herald and the Clarion Ledger for 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and a longtime blood donor. He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Gulfport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Pearl Rester Martin; two sisters, Hattie Whitney and Hester Merchant; and a brother, Walter Martin.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Pauline Crosby Martin of Gulfport; four daughters, Carolyn Millwood of Starkville, Terrie Walker of Concord, N.C., Hope Redmond of Saucier and Felicia Martin of Gulfport; four sisters, Ida Lott and Helen Sanzin, both of Gulfport, Ellen Peak of Foxworth and Jessie Smith of Kentwood, La.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight, Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport. A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000, at the funeral home chapel with burial in Finley Cemetery in Gulfport.

Wayne Rodolfich

Funeral: 11 a.m. today at St. John Catholic Church in Biloxi.

BILOXI - Mr. Wayne Rodolfich, 57, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Biloxi.

Mr. Rodolfich was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and was employed with the Biloxi Port Commission. He was a member and former president of the Slavic Benevolent Association of Croatia. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steve "Babe" Rodolfich; and a sister, Scarlett Elliott.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Gilmore Rodolfich of Biloxi; two sons, Wayne Vincent Rodolfich and Jake Christopher Rodolfich, both of the St. Martin Community; his mother, Flora Rodolfich of Biloxi; two brothers, Steve Rodolfich and Forrest Rodolfich, both of Biloxi; and a granddaughter.

A service will be at 11 a.m. today at St. John Catholic Church in Biloxi where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be in D'Iberville Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Slade

OCEAN SPRINGS - Mrs. Lois Slade, 83, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, in Biloxi.

Mrs. Slade was sent from the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi to Hulett-Winsted Funeral Home in Hattiesburg for services and burial.
