Mavis L. Kyle

Services for Mrs. Mavis L. Kyle, 73, of Starkville, were held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at New Haven Baptist Church at Weir.
Mrs. Kyle, a native of Lee County, died June 4, 2002 at the Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.

She was a retired office manager and a member of Weir Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur A. Kyle of Starkville; a son, Doug Kyle of Brandon; three daughters, Diane Alexander of Starkville, Marilyn Parish of Biloxi, and Linda Stromel of Corrales, N.M.; a sister, Maggie Crenshaw of Louisville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret Culp and Joyce Kyle.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Multiple Mycloma Foundation.

Nowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Muir

Mrs. Mabel Muir, 90, of Needham, Mass., died June 5, 2002 at Glover Hospital in Needham. She was a native of Attala County.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Atwater of Norfolk, Mass., and Martha Catherin Gibson of Bedford, Texas. She was a retired hotel manager.

Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery at McAdams under the direction of Culpepper-Nowell Funeral Home.

Lillie Fowler O'Briant

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Fowler O'Briant, 102-year-old Kosciusko resident, were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Culpepper-Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Doty Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. O'Briant, a native of Attala County, died June 6, 2002 at the Attala County Nursing Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Dr. Charles Fowler of Oxford, Clarence Fowler of Rosedale, Wilburn Fowler Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., and Johnny Fowler of Kosciusko; a daughter, Helen Ohio; 33 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Fowler.

The Rev. Barry Corbett officiated.

Pallbearers were Troy Fowler, Sammy Fowler, Richard Fowler, Wilburn Fowler, Hughey Snipes and Brad Snipes.

C.D. Parkerson Jr.

C.D. "Doug" Parkerson Sr., 60, of Utica, died June 9, 2002 at his residence. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bear Creek Cemetery near McCool.
Parkerson was a member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church where he served as youth Sunday school director. He had also served as president of the Pearl Youth Association. He was former owner of Comprehensive Design and Planning and a tool engineer for Challenger Electric.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Carol Parkerson of Pearl; son, Charles Douglas Parkerson Jr. of Quitman; daughters, Renee Parkerson Statham of Pearl and Suzy Parkerson McCollough of Sylacauga, Ala.; brothers, James Parkerson of Brandon and Raymond Parkerson of Kosciusko; sisters, Anniece Smith of Natchez, and Delorise Adams of McCool; grandchildren, Mary Addie Statham and Ryan Charles Parkerson.

Memorial contributions may be made to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745, or to the Bear Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, McCool, MS.

Ester Snow

Services for Mrs. Ester Snow, 48, of Durant, were held May 27 at 1 p.m. at the Durant First Baptist Church with burial in New Center Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Snow, a native of Holmes County, died May 22, 2002 at the Green wood Leflore Hospital following an illness of several months. She was a member of Damascus M.B. Church of Durant.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Clayton Snow; daughters, Lesia Gravis of Goodman and Ashley Snow of Durant; a son, Cedric Foster of Durant; her mother, Lillie Mae Seamester; sisters, Ora Seamster, Thelma Wright and Willie Mae Williams of Durant; brothers, Moses and James of Durant, Clyde Seamster of West and Willie Brown of Gary, Ind.; four grandchildren.

The Rev. John Phillips officiated with Winters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Vida Mae Simmons

Services for Mrs. Vida Mae Simmons, 77, of Leake County, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Tipton Street Church of Christ.
Mrs. Simmons, a retired cook, died June 4, 2002 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson following an illness of several days. She was a member of the Tipton Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Bolton of Carthage; an adopted son, David Triplett; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Lee of Chicago, and Willie Douglass of Carthage; two brothers, Eddie Nash of Kosciusko and Albert Brown of Meridian; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Prince Lewis officiated with Winters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Carl Joseph Walbert Jr.

Services for Carl Joseph Walbert Jr., 57, of Kosciusko, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Liberty Cemetery, south of Kosciusko.
Walbert died June 9, 2002 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was a member of Yockanookany Baptist Church.

The Rev. Leslie Wooten and the Rev. John Robert Ballard officiated.

Pallbearers were Hugh Lee Ballard Jr., George E. Pinkard Jr., Jerry Allen, Ralph Ellis Raymon, Bill and Paul Merchant.

He is survived by two sons, Joey Walbert and Tony Walbert, and his mother, Grace Walbert, all of Kosciusko.

Memorials may be made to Yockanookany Baptist Church.

Lillie M. Winston

Services for Mrs. Lillie Carolyn Morgan Winston, 95, of Holmes County, were held Saturday at noon at Goodman Baptist Church.
Mrs. Winston, a retired teacher, died June 3, 2002 at the University Medical Center in Jackson.

She was a native of Holmes County and a member of the Goodman Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a choir member. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by adopted daughters, Lillie M. Howard, Janie Shuler, Maggie Polk, Edna Harris, Rodessia Thomas, Mary Day and Cebrena Howard; adopted sons, John W. Lefloria, Charles Winston, Frederick Winston, Jerry Howard, Robert Howard and Geronimo Howard, niece and caregiver, Sandra Young.

Winters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Audene Armstrong

Funeral services for Mrs. Audene Armstrong, 79, of Kosciusko were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.
Mrs. Armstrong, a seamstress, died Sept. 18, 2002 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Ables of Kosciusko and Shirley Hooks of Jackson; two sons, Glenn Armstrong of Jackson and Charles Nash of Kosciusko; a brother, Elon Nash of Austin, Calif.; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Jerry A. Keen

Services for Jerry A. Keen, 54, of West were to be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel.
Keen, a native of Attala County, died Sept. 24, 2002 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Devine Keen; a son, Johnny Hood of West; a daughter, Angela Engle of Kosciusko; a brother, J.T. Keen of Durant; three sisters, Maggie Burrell, Dorothy Burrell and Clara Blackstock, all of Durant; four grandchildren.

The Rev. Willie Bishop was to officiate.

Burial was to be in North Union Cemetery.
