Virginia Inez Simmons

Brandon

Virginia Inez Simmons, 72, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services were April 29 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery in Brandon. The Rev. Steve Cannon officiated.

Mrs. Simmons was born Oct. 8, 1934 to James Boyce Wimberly and Lottie Mae White Wimberly. She attended Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon.

She loved taking care of people. She became a nurse and worked at many hospitals in Jackson. She retired from Hudspeth Center in Rankin County after seven years of service there. Mrs. Simmons loved flowers and especially growing them.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Webb III and a great-granddaughter, Analise D'Aurio.

Survivors include her children, Fran Webb of Brandon, Rickey Hill of Pearl, Maxine Ziegler of California, Robert Hill of Brandon, Kathy Fowler of Brandon and Trina Peterson of Jackson; sisters, Beverly Fraser of Louisiana and Olene Cannon of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Tommy Wimberly of Jackson and James Danny Wimberly of Brandon; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rusty Ratcliff, Randy Bolton, Smitty Knight, Craig Hill, Blue Bardon and Ralph Fiscus.

Dennis Charles Wilfong

Pearl

Dennis Charles Wilfong, 50, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral services were April 28 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Natchez Trace Memorial Park in Ridgeland. The Rev. Bill Chatham officiated.

Mr. Wilfong was born Nov. 22, 1956, to Mr. Henry Walter Wilfong and Mrs. Virginia Robbins Wilfong in California.

He worked for the Mississippi Air National Guard in Brandon. Dennis loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his brothers, Neil Wilfong and wife Michelle of Brandon and Douglas Blaine Wilfong of Pearl; sisters, Cynthia Wilfong of Jackson and Janice Ables of Pearl; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Matt Wilfong, Michael Wilfong, Pierre Cain, Anthony Wilfong, Anthony Brown and Morgan Wilfong.

Mildred Pinkerton Brewer

Pearl

Mildred Pinkerton Brewer, 78, died Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral services were May 8 at Grandview Baptist Church in Pearl with burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl. Mrs. Brewer's nephew, the Rev. Wayne Pinkerton with the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board, officiated, with the Rev. Wade Chappell assisting. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Brewer was born in Itta Bena. She was a dedicated wife and mother and a successful career woman.

She worked at Presto Manufacturing Company, the Pearl McLaurin school systems and she retired as area manager of the delicatessens at Jitney Jungle Food Stores.

Mrs. Brewer was a member of Grandview Baptist Church where she was a children's Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Pearl chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

A longtime resident of Pearl, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert 'Red' Brewer, in 1967. She was the lone surviving child of Orelia Richardson and Melvin Pinkerton from Belzoni.

Brothers who preceded her in death were Clovis Pinkerton of Summit, Robert Elmore Pinkerton of Clinton, Olie Felt Pinkerton of Belzoni and Chester Pinkerton of Hollandale.

Sisters who preceded her in death were Martha Annabell Crowder of Jackson, Dorothy Jane Box of West Point and Aline Miller of Greenwood.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Danny Hood of Madison; son, James Michael Brewer of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Heather Lynn Brewer of Pearl, Clayton Wyatt Hall and Frances Olivia Hall, both of Hattiesburg; and great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Kerusso Jones of Pearl and Yazoo City.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland MS 39157.

Kathleen Kay Garwood

Pearl

Kathleen Kay Garwood, 62, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at her residence. Funeral services were May 7 at the Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Pearl with burial in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.

Ms. Garwood was an employee of the Richland Police Department and formerly of Sack and Save in Pearl.

Her hobbies included baking cakes and making baby blankets for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Veeda Adkins and stepfather, Don Adkins.

Survivors include daughter, Tina Henry and husband Mike of Pearl; sons, Tom Garwood of Columbus, Ind., and Eric Burkes and wife Angie of Pearl; sisters, Jeanie Chiles and husband John of Elwood, Ind., Patricia Sharkey of Orlando, Fla., and Christina Baldwin of Columbus, Ind.; brothers, Michael Ramey and wife Dow of Elwood, Ind., and Dennis Ramey and wife Karin of New Ulm, West Germany; grandchildren, Sarah Kemp and husband Timmy, Alissa Brown and husband Jason, Caitlin Henry, Michael Henry, Reagan Garwood, DyIan Garwood, Emily Burkes and Tyler Burkes; and great-grandchildren, Anthony Porrier, Junior Kemp, Eva Kemp, Kaylee Brown and Jasmine Brown.

Kamylle 'Kami' Hilton

Florence

Kamylle "Kami" Hilton, 3, went to be with her Lord Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Services were May 4 in the Chancellor Funeral Home Chapel in Florence with burial in Smith Cemetery/Hickory Ridge in Florence.

Our little angel Kami loved riding her horse Maggie, gardening and fishing with her dad. She never met a stranger and loved going to church and singing.

She had special times with her Peepaw, her mother, her great-grandmother, many special friends in Rolling Fork, and family and friends in Florence.

Kami was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Nadima Hood Thomas and Lottie and Carl Hilton of Florence; grandfather, Donald Hilton Sr.; and grandmother, Lillian Dale.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Don and Mary Hilton of Florence; mother, Angela Dale of Thibodaux, La.; maternal grandfather, Roger Dale of Rolling Fork; maternal great-grandmother, Ava Dale of Rolling Fork; paternal grandmother Judy Hilton of Florence; paternal great-grandfather, Clyde Thomas Jr. of Utica; brother and sisters, Kali, Karie, Lindzy and Blake; and step-grandparents, Robert and Kathy Shaffer.

Charles H. Jones Sr.

Richland

Charles Herbert Jones Sr., 77, a retired truck driver, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services were May 2 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Richland with burial in Burns Baptist Cemetery in Smith County. The Rev. Aubrey Martin officiated.

Mr. Jones was a native of Neshoba County and a longtime resident of Richland. He was a Korean War Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean Jones of Richland; daughters, Joyce Payne and husband Keith of Star and Tammy Stubbs and husband David of Richland; sons, Charles H. Jones Jr. and wife Valerie of Richland and Russell B. Jones and wife Becky of Star; and 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mark Sonnenberg, Gerald Taylor, Rusty Jones, Willie Smith, Buddy Jones and Daniel Stubbs.

Patricia M. Thompson

Florence

Patricia M. Thompson, 48, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Scott County Medical Center in Morton. A celebration of her life was held May 5 at the Chancellor Funeral Home Chapel in Florence.

She was a lifelong resident of Florence and a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church in Florence.

She will be remembered and missed by her husband, Michael Thompson of Florence; son, Israel Hodges of Florence; brother, Michael McKinon of Bay St. Louis; and grandchildren Taylor and Truity Lee Hodges.

Stacy Leigh Tucker

Stacy Leigh Tucker, 38, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at her home in Brandon. Services were May 5 at Grace Baptist Church in Brandon with burial in Pearson Cemetery in Pearl.

She is survived by her father, Charles Rowton of West Monroe, La.; son, Jonathan Daniel Wilmoth of Brandon; daughters, Laura Ann Tucker of West Monroe, La., and Katie and Destiny Ann Wilmoth, both of Brandon; and sister, Jerry Lynn Tharp, also of Brandon.

Shirley Ann Winterstein

Pearl

Shirley Ann Winterstein, 71, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood. Services were May 7 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Lakewood South Cemetery in Jackson. The Rev. Henderson Rasberry officiated.

Mrs. Winterstein, the daughter of David and Hilda Ryan of Leake County, was a native and lifelong resident of the Jackson area.

She was retired from Jackson Public Schools and was a member of Leavell Woods United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Mrs. Winterstein was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Winterstein Sr. in 1985.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Stephens and husband Ricky of Pearl; son, Richard Charles Winterstein Jr. of Midwest City, Okla.; sisters, Mary Nell Merritt and Daisy Bailey of Jackson; brother, Larry Ryan of Jackson; and grandchildren, Bradley Ryan Stephens and wife Beth, Bridget Nicole Costello and husband Robby, Richard Brent Stephens and Lea Ann Winterstein.

Pallbearers were Earl Winterstein, Brent Stephens, Robby Costello, Brad Stephens, Roddy Winterstein and Keith Clair.

Geneva Coke Nash

Florence

Geneva Coke Nash, 78, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland. Funeral services were Aug. 10 at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Rankin County with burial in the Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Nash was a lifelong resident of the Thomasville community and a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church in Rankin County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Coke and Beulah Bowman Coke; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Nash of Florence; daughters, Linda Nash and Betty Curlee, both of Florence; brother, George Coke of Florence; sister, Ruby White of Brandon; grandchildren, Misty George and Joshua Nash; and great-grandchild, Ashten George.

The family gives special thanks to the staff members of Hospice Ministries for their love and support during this trying time.

James Larry Butch

Brandon

James Larry Butch, 55, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral services were Aug. 8 at Pinelake Baptist Church in Brandon with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. The Rev. Jeff Holland officiated. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon handled the arrangements.

Mr. Butch, the son of David J. and Jean Butch ,was a native of Pennsylvania and a longtime resident of Rankin County.

He graduated from Grove City High School in 1969 and shortly thereafter served four years in the Air Force. He then began a career as a warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service, proudly retiring after 36 years of service.

Considered one of his greatest achievements, Jim was instrumental in the passing of laws requiring weather radios in all Mississippi schools.

He was an avid golfer and had a great love for University of Georgia Bulldog football.

Survivors include his daughter, Julie Butch Gardner and husband Nick of Kennesaw, Ga.; son, John Butch and wife Melissa of Clinton; granddaughter, Amber Butch of Clinton; mother, Jean Butch Alter of Hummelstown, Pa.; sister, Sondra Correll of Dothan, Ala.; brothers, John Butch of Brookfield, Ohio and Park Butch of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Pallbearers were Alan Gerard, Greg Garrett, Mike Ryan, Chad Entremont, Ricky Moore and Brad Bryant.

Memorials may be made to the Red Cross for disaster victims.

Marie de'Lise Hagar

Florence

de'Lise Hagar, 36, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at her residence. Services were Aug. 13 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Richland with burial in Glenwood Memorial Park in Richland. The Rev. Malcolm Pinion and the Rev. Dwayne Finch officiated.

de'Lise was a native and lifelong resident of Rankin County. She was of the Apostolic Faith.

de'Lise was a very giving person, and was known as a peacemaker. She was a very loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin Hagar of Florence; parents, Ronnie and Joyce Jones of Richland; daughters, Angel Hagar of Florence and Kaylan Ward of Jackson; grandson, Kaleb Hagar of Florence; brothers, Kenneth Jones and wife Nicole of Pearl and Adam Jones and wife Toni of Pearl; nieces, Raigen, Taylor, Mia and Hannah; nephew, Brentyn; maternal grandfather, Carl Tucker of Meridian; and a number of aunts and uncles.

Lester Dale Hall

Brandon

Lester Dale Hall, 58, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at home with his sister. Funeral services were Aug. 13 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. The Rev. Jerry Williams officiated.

Lester was preceded in death by his mother, Gracie Hall and brother, Wayman Doyle Hall.

Survivors include his father, Chester Hall and wife Ruth of Jackson; sisters, Judy Hall of Brandon and Debra DeFranco and husband Roy of New Jersey; niece, Crystal Combs of Picayune; nephews, Jason, Joseph and Christopher DeFranco; and special friend, Lillian Steverson.

The family extends special thanks to Sandy with Hospice, the Brashier family, the Coupe family and Robin and Bruce Stephens for their care and support.
