Marvell, Ark. - Services for Larry Pulliam, 48, who died July 15, 2004, were held July 24, 2004, at Oak Grove in Derma with Rev. W. M. Jones officiating. Interment was in Memory Gardens in Calhoun City. Eddie Robinson and Sons Funeral Directors of Grenada was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pulliam was born July 3, 1956, in Calhoun City to Jessie and Essie Pulliam. He was a graduate of Calhoun City High School and lived most of his life in this city.
Survivors include two sisters, Juliet Pulliam Burnette of Marvell, Ark. and Denise Russell of Little Rock, Ark.; two bothers, Jessie Pulliam of Calhoun City and Edward Russell of Marvell, Ark.; three uncles, Johnny Pulliam of Calhoun City, Charles Pulliam and Leroy Denton, both of Lynn; two aunts, Vertie Mae Pratt of Calhoun City and Myrtle Denton Wilborn of Marvell, Ark.; a special friend, Ms. Stacky of Derma; sister-in-law, Jackie of Grenada; four nieces; three nephews; cousin Lee Pratt of Forest City, Ark.; cousins, friends and classmates.
Calhoun City - Services for William Thomas "Tom" Goodson, 73, who died Monday, July 26, 2004, were held Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Howard Rogers officiating. Interment was in New Gauley Cemetery in Calhoun City.
Mr. Goodson was born November 24, 1930, in Calhoun City to the late John L. and Maude Spencer Goodson. He was a logger employed by G.T. Goodson Logging. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church since 1948, but attended New Gauley Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lee Ferguson and husband, Tom, of Vardaman, Frances Snyder of Bruce and Maudie Childs and husband, Tully, of Big Creek; four sons, Earnest Goodson and wife, Annette, Thomas Earl Goodson and wife, Cindy, John Goodson and wife, Tracy and David Goodson, all of Calhoun City; two sisters, Ruby Ward of Laurel and Earline Stone of Bruce; two brothers, Billy Goodson of Calhoun City and J.W. Goodson of Bruce; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by is parents and his wife of 50 years, Francis Lorine Goodson.
Pallbearers were Dallas Goodson, Jonathan Payne, Dusty Goodson, Keith Stewart, Andy Fortner, Johnathan Goodson and Leslie Goodson.

HOUSTON - Services for Joe William "Big Red" Blaylock, 65, who died July 19, 2004, were held 2 p.m. July 21, 2004, at Arbor Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Childress officiating.

Mr. Blaylock was the owner/operator of Houston Truck Center, Inc. He was a member of Arbor Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Clarice O'Barr Blaylock of Houston; three daughters, Linda Young and her husband, Johnny, Donna Golden, Nancy Utz and her husband, Jamie, all of Houston; two sons, Jimmy Bray and his wife, Sandra, and Bobby Bray all of Houston; one brother, Kent Blaylock and his wife, Carolyn, both of Grand Bay, Ala.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hallmark and her husband, Dewayne, Jake Young and his wife, Ginger, Amanda Bray, Tara Boggs, Jessica Golden all of Houston; and four great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Young, Ronnie Young, J.D. Hallmark, Devin Boggs all of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer William and Flora Green Blaylock.

Naomi Spratlin Gilder
VARDAMAN - Services for Naomi Spratlin Gilder, 82, who died July 21, 2004, were held 11 a.m. July 23, 2004, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Easley officiating.
Interment was held in Midway Cemetery.
Ms. Gilder was retired from Kellwood and was a member of Vardaman First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Bradford of Vardaman, Phyllis Poe of Tupelo, June Collins of Calhoun City; one son, Rufus A. Gilder of Southhaven; one sister, Veneal Myrick of Saucier; one brother, Paul Spratlin of Vardaman; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus R. Gilder.
Pallbearers were Keith Bradford, Chris Bradford, Phillip Poe, Ben Collins, Jordon Collins and John Conway.

OKOLONA - Services for Velma Shields Earnest Whitt, 89, who died July 24, 2004, were held 2 p.m. July 26, 2004, at Okolona Funeral Home Chapel with Tommy Lawson officiating.
Interment was held Boone's Chapel Cemetery. Lee Memorial/Okolona Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Whitt was the retired owner/operator of Earnest Country Grocery Store in Okolona. She was a Methodist and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include her children, J.C. Earnest and his wife, Syble, both of Pontotoc, Flora Hunsucker and her husband, J.D., both of Coldwater, Lucy Cox and her husband, Rayburn, both of Nettleton; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus and Emma Pennington Shields; two husbands, John Earnest and John Whitt; and one son, Tommy Earnest.
Pallbearers were Bob Lyle, Joe Hillenbrand, Randy Earnest, Cliff Earnest, Mike Earnest, Dewayne Mills, Robby Foster , Anthony White, Beau Cox and John Earnest.

VARDAMAN - Services for Sue McGee Cook, 80, who died July 25, 2004, were held at 3 p.m. July 28, 2004, at Houston Funeral Home with the Revs. Gladwin Carpenter and Bobby Adams officiating.
Interment was held in Elzey Cemetery.
Ms. Cook was a homemaker. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church but attended Reedy's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Bray and her husband, Jimmy, both of Houston; one son, James Doug Cook of Vardaman; one sister, Christine Bailey of Vardaman; one brother, Charles Lowell McGee of Grenada; and two grandchildren, Darrel Bray and Amanda Bray.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Eugene Cook.

Grenada - Services for Deborah G. Mrs. Harbin was born Oct. 3, 1956 to Raif T. and Carlene Goodson. She received a master of Education degree from the University of Mississippi and was an educator in the Mississippi Public School Systems for 27 years. She taught fifth grade English at Grenada Upper Elementary School. She was a member of Emmanual Baptist Church in Grenada.
Survivors include her husband, Randy Harbin of Grenada; her mother, Carlene Goodson of Calhoun City; two sisters, Beverly Ortego of Lake Charles, La., and Christi Hathorne of Coffeeville; two nieces, Kathryn and Elizabeth Hathorne of Coffeeville.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pascal Goodson and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Oliver; her father, Raif T. Goodson; one son, Tyler C. Jones.
Rebecca Ward Arrington

Mrs. Arrington was born April 15, 1940 in Cleveland to the late R. T. and Pattye Curry Ward. She was a secretary for State Farm Insurance Company in Houston and a member of Houston First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club of Houston.
Survivors include her husband, Larry D. Arrington of Houston; four daughters, Deanna A. Uhiren and husband, Tony, of Houston, Dawn A. Pumphrey and husband, Jack, of Canton, Ga., Jill A. Skelton and husband, Curt, of Louisville, and Leigh Ann A. Powell and husband, Thomas, of Houston; six grandchildren, Audrey Uhiren, Cameron Pumphrey, Ben Uhiren, Truettt Pumphrey, Garrison Howell and Grayson Skelton.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Davis, Terrell Davis, Justin Teasley, Doil Moore, Don Clay and Clyde Dyson.

Mr. Huffman was born Sept. 14, 1933 in Chickasaw County to the late A.F. "Buck" and Vida O'Barr Huffman. He was a veteran of the Korean war and a member of Arbor Grove Baptist Church. He was disabled.
Survivors include hs wife, Evelyn Tackett Huffman of Houston; two daughters, Vickie Barnett and husband, Andy, of Hosuton and Linda Seymore and husband, Bobby, of Shannon; one son, Steve Huffman of Pontotoc; one brother, Bro. Robert Hufman of Hamilton, Ala.11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one special cousin, Frances Pumphrey of Houston.

Mrs. Goode was born May 4, 1918 in Woodland to the ate Ollie Bennett and Susie Hatchett Terry. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She attended Bissell Baptist Church in Tupelo. She was the widow of Harry McFadden Goode who passed away in 1973.
Survivors include three daughters, Edna Sue Stafford and husband, J.D. of Kernersville, N.C., Mary Lee Mauey of Douglasville, Ga., and Bonnie Katherine Reeves and husband, Homer of Tupelo; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry McFadden Goode; one infant daughter, Harriet Maxine Goode; one son-in-law, Tom Mauney.
