Joey Prestage, 31
Joey Chuck Prestage, 31, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1971, in Morton to Billy Lee Prestage and Bernice Pilgrim. He was a truck driver and a member of the Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Services were at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Holly Springs Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Wilson officiating. Burial was in Amaziah Cemetery in Hickory Flat.
Survivors include his wife, Penny Lane Prestage of Myrtle; his mother, Bernice Williams of Myrtle; his step-father, Earl Kiddy of Myrtle; two sons, Cole Prestage and Tristan Prestage of Myrtle; five sisters, Lynn Stacks and Lisa Alsobrook of Olive Branch, Earline Beaver of Memphis, and Pamela Ford and Stacy Kiddy of Myrtle.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Paul Kiddy.
Newt Grisham, 82
William "Newt" Grisham, 82, of Blue Mountain, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at North Carter Grisham; two brothers, James Wayne and Joffree Grisham; and a daughter, Shirley Jean Grisham.
Pallbearers were deacons and honorary pallbearers were the Men's Bible Class, all from Lowrey, Memorial Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Lowrey Memorial Baptist Church.
Virginia Kennedy, 83
Virginia Kennedy, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County.
She was an active member of Holy Temple Church of God. She was a member of the Mothers Board and was named Mother of the Year in 1996.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 at Holy Temple Church of God with Pastor Charles Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Camilla Kennedy of New Albany; three nieces, Betty Raper of Saltillo, Janice Bell of New Albany and Annette Raper of Baldwyn; four nephews, John Raper, the Rev. Robert Guyton Raper, Eugene Raper, and Major Prentiss Gordon, all of Saltillo; an uncle, Robert Calif.
Visitation was to be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church one hour before services.
Janie Whitehorn, 70
Janie Fay Brownlee Whitehorn, 70, of Hickory Flat, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at North Mississippi in Oxford.
He was born May 20, 1929, in Union County to the late Will and Lillie Clayton Miller. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a Mason and a member of the American Legion. He was a retired employee of the Wisconsin, Jerry Hooker of Thompson of Holly Springs; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and seven brothers.
Pallbearers were Ed Thompson, Steve and Andy Tomlinson, Robert and Mike Chaney, Dick Stevens and Paul Duncan.
Her nephews were honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 830 S. Gloster St.; Tupelo MS 38801.
Addie J. Reed, 63
Addie J. Reed, 63, of Tupelo, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at North Mississippi City United Methodist Church and a member of the Retired Nurses Association. She held a degree in nursing from St. Joseph's Hospital in Jackson and was a practicing Registered Nurse for more than 30 years with the State of Mississippi Public Health Department.
Memorial services will be privately held in New Albany at a later date. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home of Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her sister, Mrs. D. H. Tyer; nieces Kay Hartung and Ann Waddey of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Ruth Griffith and Debbie Andrews of Amory; and nephews David Tyer of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Bill McAllister of Amory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Trinity Hospice.
