FOREST CITY - Mrs. Jennie Ruth Rainwater West, 68, of 2101 Hogan Road, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at her home.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home with the Revs. Earl Kelley and George Whitmire officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Larry L. Wilkerson, of Forest City, died Monday, June 5, 2000.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Forest City.

Era Dalton
SPINDALE - Mrs. Era Mae Hardin Dalton, 74, of 207 Honeycutt St., died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at her home.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Crowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Black and Mike Dalton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Clyde Gantt
MOORESBORO - Mr. Clyde Wesley Gantt, 84, of 522 Gantt's Grove Church Road, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Clarence and Ella Jane Walker Gantt. He was the owner and operator of an excavation business and served in the Navy during World War II and the European and Pacific theatres. He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Wesley Gantt.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Fraser Gantt of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Norma Jean Gantt and Ernest Stoerrle of Rhodhiss and Mary Ann Shuler of Salisbury; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan Scott and JoAnn Gantt of Spindale; a brother and sister-in-law, John P. and Jean Gantt of Newland; a sister, Cora Lee Gantt Tate of Mooresboro; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sandy Run Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Hendrick and Jim Sparks officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services and at other times at the home, 522 Gantt's Grove Church Road.

Charlie Finney
KINGSTOWN - Mr. Charlie Finney, 71, of 1905 Petty Road, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Haddock, Ga., he was the son of the late Willis and Florine I. Finney. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Kingstown, and retired from PPG Industries in Shelby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Louis Finney; two brothers, Thomas and L.C. Finney; and a sister, Julia F. Terrell.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Georgia Boykins Finney of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward Charles Finney of the home and Douglas and Alva Finney of Shelby; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Finney Rudisill and Charline Finney of Kingstown, Janice Finney and David Harbison, Pamela Finney Boyce and T.L. Boyce, and Pauline Finney, all of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Stoney S. Finney and wife, Shonda, and Jerrin Finney, all of Kingstown, Tia L. Boyce, Jasmin R. Harbison and Taylor J. Harbison, all of Shelby, Tiantra F. Brooks and husband, James of Polkville, Shamar M. Finney and wife Keyonda of State College, Pa; three great-grandchildren, Damarius K. Finney of Kingstown and Jayla C. Camp and Shemarray J. Brooks, both of Polkville; two brothers, Willis and Henry Finney of Philadelphia; five sisters, Maggie F. Jennings and Ollie Mae Davis of Kingstown, Maple F. Brown and Martha F. Hill of Shelby, and Edna F. White of Detroit; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie C. Whitworth officiating.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service and at other times at the home.
Dockery's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Caldwell
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. James H. Caldwell, 57, of 106 Seven Hawks Trail, Shelby, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Gaston County, he was the son of Pauline Harbin of Kings Mountain. He worked as an electrician and was a member of Patterson Springs and served in the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Brenda Camp Caldwell of Shelby; a son, James T. Caldwell of Shelby; four daughters and sons-in-law, Penny Caldwell and Tonia Caldwell of Shelby, Margaret C. and Jody Lee of Grover and Kelly C. and Matthew McDonald of Gastonia; a sister, Billie Ann Pardo of Kings Mountain; and four grandchildren, Stacy McDonald, Megan Lee, Kayla Lee and Elizabeth Lee.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Patterson Springs with the Rev. Steve Waters officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 952 Wendover Heights Road, Shelby, NC 28150.

Viola Hope
CHERRYVILLE - Ms. Viola Elizabeth Hope, 81, of 612 Clyde St., died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at the home of her daughter, 150 Dover Road in Spartanburg.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Stinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Dorothy Oates, 611 Clyde St., Cherryville.
Ebony and White's Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Louise Nix
SHELBY - Mrs. Louise Pearson Nix, 81, of 2126 Amesbury Drive, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Charley and Zudie Hawkins Pearson. She was a homemaker and a member of High Shoal Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Nix.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Rollins of Spartanburg, S.C., Troy Nix of Henrietta and Myles "John" Nix of Mooresboro; three daughters, Patsy Russ and Judy Dobbins, both of Shelby and Elizabeth Lambert of Boiling Springs; one brother, Winkie Pearson of Cliffside; eight grandchildren; and seven-great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at High Shoal Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Passmore officiating. Entombment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home.

Blanche Magness
ALPHARETTA, GA. - Mrs. Blanche Eaker Magness, 87, of 13000 Freemanville Road, formerly of Shelby, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Mariner Health, NE. Atlanta.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Falls Eaker. She was co-owner of Magness Market and Magness Produce and was a member of Extension Department of First Baptist Church and TEL Sunday school Class of First Baptist Church of Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was the preceded in death by her husband, James Everette Magness Sr. and two sisters, Evelyn Reid and Polly E. Walker.
She is survived by a son, James Everette Magness Jr. of the home; two nieces, Jean W. Ledbetter and Brenda Mitchem, both of Shelby; three grandchildren, James E. Magness II, Bebe Daher and David Butler Jr., all of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren, David Butler III and Brannon Williams, both of Atlanta.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Robert Canoy officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home and at other times of the home of Jean W. Ledbetter, 400 W. Sumter St., Shelby.

Laura Falls
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Laura Janet Falls, 96, of 160 Patterson Road, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
Born March 6, 1904 in Kings Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Price and Sarah Elizabeth Patterson Falls. She was the President and Best All Around Debater of the Aycock Society at Kings Mountain's Central High School. She pursued her teaching degree at Winthrop College. She also studied during the summers at UNC-Chapel Hill, the University of Tennessee, Asheville Teacher's College, Appalachian State University, and at The Sorbonne in Paris, France. She taught French and History, as well as coaching drama, readings, and debate at Mooresboro for eleven years and in Charlotte for seventeen years. She taught sixth grade in Gastonia for two years and at North School for twelve years.
She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Teacher's Sorority of which she was a member of Shelby's Sigma Chapter for twelve years, and Beta Chi Chapter for eighteen years. She was a twenty-five year member of the Thursday Afternoon Book Club in Kings Mountain. She traveled to Europe, Asia, Africa, eight of the ten Canadian provinces, and almost all of the United States.She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain where she taught the Sally Fulton Bible class for ten years, was Chairperson of the Commissions on Missions and the Committee on History and Records. She served as Secretary and Treasurer of Circle #1 and as a Vacation Bible School Teacher. She wrote the history of the church and the United Methodist Women. After visiting the Bible lands in the Middle East and the mission fields in the West Indies, she attended the mission school at Pfeiffer College and later spoke to various church organizations about her mission studies. She also authored and published her family's memoirs, "The Falls of Oaklawn."
She is survived by a brother, Alvin Hugh Falls of Kings Mountain; and forty-five nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harrison Hinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the El Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harris Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Hugh Falls, 160 Patterson Road, Kings Mountain.

Mary Camp
EATON RAPIDS, MICH. - Mrs. Mary Lee Camp, 70, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Lansing Hospital.
Born October 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Shelton and Barbara Lee Davis Cabiness. She worked at the Home Port Restaurant and was the former manager of the Econ-O-Wash Laundry, both in Eaton Rapids. She was a founding member of the Island City Baptist Church and was a member of the Rebekah Sunshine Lodge No. 142, both in Eaton Rapids.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Guy Cabiness, Elmo Cabiness and Eubert Cabiness; a son, Dwight Camp; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Miller; a grandson, Michael Miller, two sisters-in-law, Lois Cabiness and Estiline Cabiness; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Kirby.
She was survived by her husband of 47 years, James Camp; children, Laura (Vernie) Miller, Diane Oberlin, Deborah (David) Lynch, James Camp Jr., Caroyll Camp and Brian Camp; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Beuna Kirby and Jane and J.V. Weaver; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wilbur Cabiness and Paul (Pauline) Cabiness; two sisters-in-law, Viola Cabiness and Daisy Cabiness; 13 grandchildren, Denny Miller, David Miller, Jeffrey Oberlin, Michelle Oberlin, Christina Johnson, Benjamin Clifford, Daniel Clifford, Timmy Clifford, Robert Camp and Scott Camp, Chandra Lynch, Joshua Lynch; seven great-grandchildren, Tracie Miller, Marcus Miller, Christopher Miller, Keisha Miller, Jacob Oberlin-Scott, Tyler Oberlin-Scott, and Clorissa Oberlin; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Todd Bolin and Keith Dixon officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

Earl Taylor
VALE - Mr. Robert Earl Taylor, 75, of 144 Hwy, 274, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marcus Redding officiating.
Burial will follow at Hull's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

UNION MILLS - Mrs. Minnie Fay Anderson St., 70, of 5136 US 64 Highway, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at her home.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cane Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Lance Scarlett, Bill Crowder and Jerry Campbell officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Vernie Wood
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Vernie B. Wood, 61, of 117 Short St., died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Ella Mae Davis Dixon. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Wood; three sons, Ronnie Wood, Bobby Ray Wood, and Timothy Lee Wood, all of Ellenboro; a sister, Vergie Willard of Forest City; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. Joseph Cantrell and Eugene Passmore officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ronnie Wood, 636 Short Road, Ellenboro.

Henry "Sam" Denton
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Henry L. "Sam" Denton, 73, of Charlotte, died Monday, June 5, 2000.
A native of Cleveland County, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jane Bost Denton, who died in 1997. He served in the Navy and in the Army during World War II. He was the Boy Scout Master for Troop No. 121, was a member of the Arrow, and was awarded the Silver Beaver. He was employed by Sears in the service department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Charlotte.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Alice Denton and Hank and Johnna Denton, all of Charlotte; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Phillip Gregory of Wingate; five grandchildren, Kelly, Samantha, Taylor, Tracy, and Tia; and a sister, Pat Elmore of Casar.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 501 North Tryon St., with the Rev. Ivan Peden officiating.
Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 10 to 10:45 in the church parlor.
