CRAMERTON - Mr. Walter B. Dixon, 84, of 135 8th Ave., died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cramerton with the Rev. David Julen officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Kings Mountain.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Concord United Methodist Church in Bessemer City with the Revs. Claudia Harrelson and John W. Herold officiating. Burial will follow at 4:15 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. James Paul Reed Sr., 64, of 389 Batchelor Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney, S.C.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Boone officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Margretta Blanton
SHELBY - Mrs. Frances Margretta Hicks Blanton, 79, of 1614 Red Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Grason and Minnie Bessless Ware Hicks. She was a homemaker and a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Hicks, Herbert Hicks and Charles Hicks.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Blanton Sr. of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, James E. Jr. and Vicki P. Blanton of Shelby; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sarah B. and Billy Lemons of Shelby and Barbara B. Hendrick of Gastonia; two brothers, Robert Hicks of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jack Hicks of Waukesha, Wis.; seven sisters, Nina Parks of Morganton, Lib Dwyer of Blacksburg, Va., Verna Pressley of Blacksburg, S.C., Becky Stewart of Kings Mountain, Ruth Allison of Black Mountain, Melba Hemmings of Rural Hall and Shirley Adams of Spartanburg, S.C.; two grandsons, Jarrett Blanton and Christopher Blanton, both of Shelby; and one granddaughter and her husband, Michele Lemons and Joe Bjerg of Concord.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Crestview Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Webb officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services and other times at the residence.

John Savage
SHELBY - Mr. John C Savage, 68, of 1087 Providence Road, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Union County, Ga., he was the son of the late George Ranson and Norma Caroline Poteete Savage. He was a retired self-employed steel broker. He worked many years in the finance industry. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. He was past president of the Cleveland Community Watch Association, Amvets and American Legion Post 82. He graduated from Parks College of Aeronautical Technology at the University of St. Louis. He was an Air Force veteran who served in the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sides Savage; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cathy Savage of Shelby; one sister-in-law, Emma Jean Sides of Shelby; one niece and her family, Linda Clark of Shelby; one nephew and his family, Ken Sides of Shelby; one sister, Mary Greene of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Shannon Savage of Shelby and Chad Bailey and Nichole Bailey of Ellenboro; great-grandchildren, C.J. Bailey and Madison Bailey, both of Ellenboro.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Joe Collins officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Veronia Ollie McNeely
LAWNDALE - Ms. Veronia Ollie McNeely, 79, of 128 Rustic Road, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Andy McPherson and Lara Louisa S. McNeilly. She retired from Alba-Waldensian Inc. of Valdese. She attended Pisgah Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roscoe McNeilly and Guy McNeilly; and two sisters, Vina M. White and Essie Belle M. Hull.
She is survived by four nieces; three nephews; one brother-in-law, Roy R. White of Casar; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Roscoe (Geneva J.) McNeilly of Casar.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the chapel at Stamey Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Buff officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour before the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Vickie W. and Paul Daves Jr., 128 Rustic Road, Lawndale.

Ruby Bridges
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Ruby Putnam Bridges, 76, of 106 Afton Drive, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Eula Wade and Bessie Jackson Putnam. She was retired from Spectrum Yarns. She was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Bright Bridges; one son, Bobby Kenneth Bridges; one brother, Wade Putnam Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Huff and Janice Keeter.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Wayne Bridges of Pensacola, Fla., Dean Bridges of Marion and Roger Bridges of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Alberta Strickland of Kings Mountain, Jeannie Blanchette of Charlotte, Polly Gamble of Bessemer City and Ada Burton of Matthews; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the service at the church.

SHELBY - Mrs. Lottie Brooks Phillips, 79, of 1306 Markway St., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jackson County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late L.J. and Norma Mae Phillips Brooks. She was retired from Cleveland Cloth Mill where she worked for 38 years. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odis E. Phillips; three brothers, Paul Brooks, Curtis Brooks and Lonnie Brooks Jr.; and one sister, Blondine Poston.
She is survived by one son, Ed Phillips of Shelby; and one sister, Mary Barnette of Shelby.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Harold Fite officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Allen Smith
GASTONIA - Mr. Allen Al Smith, 50, of 1935 Oak Hollow Road, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001.
A native of Spartanburg County, S.C., he was the son of Rosemary Ferguson Smith of Spartanburg and the late Daniel David Smith. He was a member of Greater Mount Hebron Baptist Church of Gastonia, where he was a member of the Mass Choir and served as a Sunday school teacher. He was a graduate of South Carolina State University with a bachelor of arts degree. He was a supervisor with Copeland Corp. of Shelby.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Smith Smith of the home; two daughters, Tracie Laurelle Smith of Dallas, N.C., and Sabrina Renae Smith of the home; two brothers, David Smith and Vincent Smith, both of Spartanburg; one sister, Patricia Smith of Spartanburg; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Greater Mount Hebron Baptist Church of Gastonia with the Rev. Dr. Timothy H. Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens of Roebuck, S.C.. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church and at the home of his mother, Mrs. Rosemary Smith, of 500 Georgia Ave., Spartanburg from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. The body will be placed at the J.W. Woodward Memorial Chapel Saturday from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Nettie Mull
SHELBY - Mrs. Nettie Revels Mull, 91, of 351 Whitener St., died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late William Everette and Liza Jane Huffman Revels. She was retired from Lily Mills after 47 years of service. She was a member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church and the Lily Old Timers Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette R. Mull; a daughter, Edith Haynes; a son, Carlos Mull; a grandson, Joey Ledbetter; four brothers, Dave Mull, Purvis Mull, Roy Mull, and Raymond Mull; and four sisters, Bess Paysour, Lily Shull, Jenny Head, and Ann Poole.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine Mull and Bill Hembree of Ellenboro, and Joyce Mull and Randy Derrick of Shelby; a sister, Ruby McSwain of Shelby; a brother, Sam Revels of Cowpens, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Chapel with the Revs. Phate McSwain Jr. and Jerry Revels officiating. Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of Joyce and Randy Derrick, 215 Carmel Drive, Shelby.

Eva Bingham
FALLSTON - Mrs. Eva Allison Bingham, 90, of 4522 Fallston Road, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 8, 1910, in Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Pinkey Alexander Sr. and Edna A. Allison. She was a homemaker and a helpmate on the family's farm. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, the Noah Wright Sunday School class, Friendship Club, a life member of the United Methodist Women, and a honorary member at-large of the Administrative Council.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, W.C. "Lummie" Bingham; a son, Larry Bingham; a son-in-law, Bill Conley; three brothers, Hogue Allison, Woodrow Allison and Pinkney Allison Jr.; and a sister, Bessie McCombs.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lydia Bingham of Shelby; two daughters and a son-in-law, Doris B. Conley of Shelby and Louise and Everett Lewis of Fallston; a daughter-in-law, Carrol H. Bingham of Fallston; two sisters, Dean Turner of Shelby and Margaret Allison of Charlotte; three grandsons and their wives, Everett Jr. and Pam Lewis of Dallas, Kevin and Connie Conley of Gastonia and Rodney and Kim Conley of Shelby; three granddaughters and a spouse, Paula B. Peeler of Fallston, Ronda and Phil Peeler of Lawndale and Wendy B. Panther of Shelby; eight great-grandchildren, Patience Lewis, Zachary Lewis, Ethan Conley, Austin Conley, Hannah Conley, Katie Peeler, Adam Peeler and Ashley Peeler; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Jordan Russell.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Revs. Eddie Ingram and Erman Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.

LAURENS, S.C. - Mrs. Bertha Darnell O'Shields, 91, formerly of Cold Point, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at National Health Care of Laurens.
Born in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Etta Mae Hilley Darnell. She was homemaker and was a member of Church of God Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin E. "Red" O'Shields and by a son, Charles C. O'Shields.
She is survived by a daughter, Mildred O. Simmons of Cold Point; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Virginia O'Shields of Greenville, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Kennedy Mortuary Chapel with committal services at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby at 3 p.m.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Becky Roper Hampton, 56, of 900 Boyce St., died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Hillard and Flora Ailene Bookout Yarbro. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was employed by Eaton Corp.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Derek Roper; a brother, Jimmy Yarbro; and two sisters, Judy Marlowe and Grace DiSabato.
She is survived by her second husband, Charles H. Hampton of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kim Roper and Tracy Bolin, Lisa Hampton and Chuck Austin and Robin Hampton and Jeff Bridges, all of Kings Mountain, and Kim Hampton and Roger Brymer of Gastonia,; three brothers, Doug Yarbro, Mike Yarbro and Jeff Yarbro, all of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Shirley Guyton and Kathy Yarbro, both of Kings Mountain; and seven grandchildren, April Roper, Elizabeth Roper, Laura Howell, Chad Bridges, C.J. Austin, Cody Austin, and Jordan Brymer.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Swafford and Dr. Marshall Gupton officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain.

SHELBY - Mrs. Janie Beatrice "Honey Bee" Jamison Eaves, 86, of 404-1 Orange St., died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at her home.
Born Aug. 2, 1914, in Barnesville, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Roten and Jerima Holston Jamison. She was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church and worked at Cone Mills for years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John P. and Theodore Jamison; and two granddaughters, Pamela D. Hamrick and Adrianne L. Baccus.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce Spratt and Sandra Eaves Hamrick, both of Charlotte, Blanche and William Hughes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Patricia and Thomas Hutley of Shelby; one son, Robert Jamison of Forest City; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Terry Belk.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Ramseur Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy J. Ramseur officiating. Burial will be in Young Chapel Cemetery in Mooresboro.
