Geraldine Parris
SHELBY - Mrs. Geraldine "Jerry" Parris, 75, of 804 Broad St., died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Hattie Smith Lail. She was a waitress at the Shelby Café and a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Cornwell, and second husband, Stewart Parris; and Calvin and Julia Lail, who raised her.
She is survived by a son, David M. Cornwell of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Richard E. Russ of Fallston; three grandchildren and their spouses, Todd and Amanda Royster of Fallston, Matt and Tammy Cornwell of Vale and Chad Cornwell of Shelby; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Revs. Tony Tench and Scott Pacifico officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

Patsy Runyan
MONROE - Mrs. Patsy Louise Ervin Runyan, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Wesley Care Center, Charlotte.
A native of Shelby, she was the daughter of the late Preston Barnette and Lizzie J. Sipes Ervin. She was a retired molding operator for Charlotte Plastics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.V. Runyan; a son, James Wray Runyan; two brothers, Raymond Ervin and Lewis Ervin; and two sisters, Gladys Ervin and Ethel Ervin Carter.
She is survived by two sons, the Rev. A.V. Runyan Jr. and Damon Runyan, both of Monroe; four daughters, Janie Gay and Ava Gail Willis, both of Monroe, Carolyn Manus of Indian Trail and Teresa Mosley of Waxhaw; a brother, Howard Ervin of Shelby; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be tonight at in the chapel of Davis Funeral Home, 1003 East Franklin St.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Earl.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the Davis Funeral Home and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, Shelby.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Care Center, 6th Floor Memorial Fund, 3700 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.

Mary Hamilton
FOREST CITY - Ms. Mary Lee Hamilton, 79, of 158 Allen Drive died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Hopewell AME Zion Church in Harris with the Revs. Larry Whiteside and Barbara Petty officiating. Burial will be in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Spindale.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
Thompson Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rollin Cook
SHELBY - Mr. Rollin Delbert Cook, 80, of 1442 Fletcher Road died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Deller Tinsley Cook. He was retired from the card room at Cleveland Mills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Belle Causby Cook; a daughter, Patsy Cook Beheler; a grandson, Michael Beheler; and three brothers.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine C. and Larry Causby of Shelby; a brother, Everett Cook of Casar; three sisters, Mamie Self and Gertie Walker, both of Casar, and Ethel Newton of Charlotte; a granddaughter and her husband, Brenda C. and Brian Jackson of Waco; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Gary and Carla Causby of Shelby and Chad Beheler of Nashville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Jackson, Crystal Jackson, Brittany Causby and Jordan Causby.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home with the Revs. Terrill Crump and Chris Sanford officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sadie Whitehouse
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Sadie Isabel Whitehouse, of 104 Jamestown Court, infant daughter of Jeramey Whitehouse and Jennifer C. Short, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Snyder officiating.
Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Jones
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. James "Jamie" Lancer Jones, 24, of 116 Green St., died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jason Martin officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at White Columns Funeral Service in Blacksburg.

Howard Glover
SHELBY - Mr. Howard Hatcher Glover, 73, of 804 Tryon St., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Hatcher Vernon and Cora Lee Rabb Glover. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a retired route salesman for Waldensian Bakeries and a franchised distributor for Charles Chips for 10 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Ropp.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Hambright Glover; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Teressa Glover of Mooresboro, Danny and Candy Glover of Shelby and Dean and Lania Kent of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Scott Glover, Johnny Glover, Chris Glover, Matthew Glover, Danielle Jones, Lance Brown and Dean Brown Jr.; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. David Rabb officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Robert Burgess
LAKE LURE - Mr. Robert Ray "Bob" Burgess, 67, of 565 Whitney Blvd. died Wednesday Dec. 6, 2000.
Memorial services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Fairfield Mountains Chapel with the Rev. Everette Chapman officiating. Visitation will follow the memorial service.
Crowe's Mortuary, Rutherfordton, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Dover
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Mary Emelyn Carpenter Dover, 83, of 29 Bennett Drive died Wednes-day, Dec, 6, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Haywood and Fannie Lee Richardson Carpenter. She was a homemaker and a member of Cherokee Street Baptist Church for 43 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Dover; a son, Billy Lee Dover; four sisters, Vivian C. South, Betty C. Mauney, Frances C. Starnes and Margaret C. Whitaker; four brothers, Jesse Carpenter, Charlie Carpenter, James Carpenter and Carl Carpenter.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue D. and Bob Hayes and Fay D. and Clifford Lovelace, all of Kings Mountain; a brother, Billy Carpenter of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Eunice C. Smith of Forest City and Dorothy C. Clark of Bessemer City; three granddaughters and their spouses, Deborah Hayes and Michael Conard of Wilmington, Trina Lovelace and Jerry Shull and Janet S. Lovelace, all of Kings Mountain; and three great-grandchildren, Andrea Brown, Todd Jackson and Tonya Jackson.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Cherokee Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Green officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family received friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home.

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Dinah Ennis Womack, 86, of 6306 Branch Hill Circle, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Presbyterian/Wesley Care Center in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. N. Fred Jordan Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Padgett and King Mortuary, Forest City.

Mary Jane Weaver
RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Mary Jane Lanier Weaver, 81, of Willow Ridge Nursing Home, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at her home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Chess and Nancy Morgan Lanier. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon L. "Pee Wee" Weaver; a son, John "Buddy" Weaver; five sisters, Ida Gantt, Faye Randall, Carrie Johnson, Annie Bell Randall and Pearl Bailey; and three brothers, Lozier Lanier, Fields Lanier and A.V. Lanier.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Ken Johnson of Shelby; three granddaughters, Le Ann Johnson, Lisa Johnson and Phyllis Clay and her husband, Jerry, all of Shelby; a grandson, Scott Weaver of Boiling Springs; a granddaughter, Donna Weaver of Boiling Springs; and two great-grandsons, John Michael Weaver of Boiling Springs and Brandon Tyler Clay of Raleigh.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jim Frost officiating.
The family will be at the home of Virginia and Ken Johnson, 416 Allen St., Shelby.

Warner Jones Sr.
HARRIS - Mr. Warner Wray Jones Sr., 63, of 427 Jack McKinney Road, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at his home.
A graveside service will be held today at 4:30 p.m. at Cool Springs Cemetery in Forest City, with the Rev. J.C. Stidham officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 4 p.m. at Crowe's Mortuary in Rutherfordton.

Conolia Shivers
DETROIT - Mrs. Conolia Shivers, 82, of 1589 Dexter St., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Dockery's Funeral Home of Shelby.

Albert Hamrick
BOILING SPRINGS - Mr. Oscar Albert Hamrick, 87, of Crawley Memorial Nursing Center, formerly of 2435 Honey Haven Farm Road, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Keith Dixon and Ed Sessoms officiating. Burial will be in the Hamrick Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Jamie Smith
GASTONIA - Mr. James Randolph "Jamie" Smith, 66, of Brian Center in Gastonia, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral is tonight at 6:30 in Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Daughrity officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service until 8 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home.

Mildred Warlick
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Mildred Mauney Warlick, 86, of 1047 Oak Grove-Clover Hill Road, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County Nov. 5, 1914, she was a daughter of the late William White and Nellie Ellen Betchler Mauney. She retired from Cleveland County Schools food service. She was a member of Clover Hill United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Lee Warlick; an infant son; five brothers, James Mauney, William Mauney, Nelson Mauney, Charles Mauney and Pat Mauney; and a sister, Frances McEntire.
She is survived by a son, Keith Warlick of Lawndale; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ronald Mills of Lowell; two sisters, Inez Byrum of Charlotte and Marie Edwards of Lawndale; two grandsons, Dwayne Ledford and his wife, Donna, and Danny Ledford; two granddaughters, Anita Hunt and Amber Hunt; and two great-granddaughters, Robyn Ledford and Maggie Ledford.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Clover Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Edward Lee officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.
Memorials may be made to Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1225 Oak Grove-Clover Hill Church Road, Casar, NC 28020.

Buddy Guffey
SHELBY - Mr. Buddy Guffey, 59, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at his home.
Born in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Arvell and Macie Ensley Guffey. He was owner of Guffey's Beauty Salon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Poteat and Dorothy Smith; and two brothers, Roy Guffey and Garland Guffey.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Philbeck Guffey; a son, Ensley Guffey of the home; a daughter, Laney Rogers of the home; a brother, Baxter Guffey of Lake City, Fla.; and three sisters, Deckie Delk of Shelby, Eunice Ramsey of Sunshine and Valerie Harrill of Forest City.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 8.

Freida McGinnis
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Freida M. McGinnis, 58, of 1001 Sherwood Lane, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert K. Sr. and Chloe McGinnis McGinnis. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and co-owner of McGinnis of Cherryville.
She is survived by a brother and his wife, Hubert K. Jr. and Pam McGinnis of Kings Mountain; a niece, Bess McGinnis; and a nephew, Sam McGinnis.
The funeral is 3 p.m. today at Resurrection Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ken Gillikin officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family received friends Monday.
Memorials may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 600 Crescent Circle, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
