HENRIETTA - Mr. Frank Erby Davis, 78, of 221 Proctor School Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Derick Maddox and Perry Manuel officiating.
Crowe Funeral Home in Rutherfordton is in charge of arrangements.

B.C. Wyatt
CHERRYVILLE - Mr. Boyce Craton "B.C." Wyatt, 70, of 3174 Bud Black Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at his home.
Born June 6, 1930, he was a son of the late Boyce Clifton Wyatt and Artie Myrtle Waters Wyatt Luckadoo. He was a retired textile worker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Wyatt.
He is survived by a son, Boyce Dwayne Wyatt of Cherryville; two daughters, Renee Wyatt Camp and her husband, Ronnie, of Shelby, and Dianne Kelly Moss of Cherryville; two brothers, Melvin Wyatt of Boiling Springs and Howard Wyatt of Shelby; a half-sister, Roberta Alexander of Mooresboro; three half-brothers, Forest Luckadoo and Calvin Luckadoo of Mooresboro and Bobby Luckadoo of Shelby; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one grandson-in-law; and his former wife, Pearl Kelly of Shelby.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Ray Vess
RUTHERFORDTON - Mr. Ray Jason Vess, 79, of 1071 Highway 64/74, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Willow Ridge Nursing Center.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Cane Creek Baptist Church in Lake Lure with the Revs. Ansel Pace and Bill Day officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
Crowe Funeral Home of Rutherfordton is in charge of arrangements.

Ola Ross
BOSTIC - Mrs. Ola Ross, of Fair Haven Home, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000 at her residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Crowe's Mortuary and Chapel Inc. of Rutherfordton.

John Allan Hollands
CASAR - Mr. John Allan Hollands, 76, of 106 Burnet Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born July 8, 1924, in Wolcott, N.Y., he was the son of the late William Henry Horton and Margaret Alice Allan Hollands. He was retired as a superintendent at Pulaski Academy and Central School. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers during World War II in the Pacific from 1943 to 1946.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Keel Hollands of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barbara Hollands of East Bethany, N.Y., and Mark and Cheryl Hollands of Amherst, N.H.; a sister, Carol Goss of Arden; eight grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Elizabeth H. and Matthew Barnaby, Courtney Hollands, Whitney Hollands, Anna Hollands, Sarah Hollands, Daniel Hollands, Peter Hollands, Jason Hollands and Matthew Hollands; and two great-grandchildren, Joey Barnaby and Hanna Barnaby.
A memorial service will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Sanford officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Arzalia Dawkins
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Arzalia "Boot" Dawkins, 72, of 1900 Alpine Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral is today at 2:30 p.m. at Shiloh AME Zion Church in Grover with the Rev. Ralph Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.
J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Willie Lott
SHELBY - Mr. Willie Junior Lott, 52, of 608 Hamrick Street, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Maebell Winters Lott of Shelby and the late Willie Lott. He was retired from Esther Mill after 25 years of service. He was also a self-employed plumber, a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Edna Hamilton Lott of Shelby; a son, Jerome Lott of Shelby; a daughter, Tracy Williams of West Memphis, Ark.; two stepsons, Keith Hamilton and Rufus Hamilton, both of Shelby; four sisters, Annie Rice and Bonita Culberth, both of Shelby, Mattie Adams of Kings Mountain and Mary Hartgrove of Grover; a grandchild; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Elease Hamilton of Shelby; a special nephew, Gregory Lott of Waco; six sisters-in-law; and nine brothers-in-law.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. R.W. Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Bennett
SHELBY - Mrs. Myrtle Louise Russell Bennett, 60, of 3978-1 Barclay Road, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at New Salem Baptist Church in Abraham, W. Va.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, W. Va., and one hour before the service at the church.
Clay-Barnette Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

CHERRYVILLE - Mr. J.B. Neill, 77, of 124 Mary's Grove Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Gladys Toms Flack, 80, of White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at her home.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. Ted Riedel, Dan Wallace and Bruce Hancock officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel.

Marie Holland
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Haulk Holland, 75, of Forest Lake Retirement Home in Forest City, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Crawley Memorial Hospital in Boiling Springs.
Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Sue Johnson Haulk. She retired from Artee Industries, where she was a winder operator. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Shelby and actively attended Catawba Heights Baptist Church in Belmont.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Holland, and two brothers, Raymond "Ray" Haulk and J.V. Haulk.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernie Dean and Denise Holland of Shelby and George Thomas and Patricia Holland of Bessemer City; a grandson, Nathan Thomas Holland of Bessemer City; a granddaughter, Amanda P. Mitchem of Gastonia; two great-grandsons, Nathan Stewart Holland of Kings Mountain and Christopher Lee Mitchem of Gastonia; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsie Lasheay Mitchem of Gastonia.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel, with the Revs. Raymond Johns, Charles Spence and Gene Ware officiating. Burial will be in Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Mills.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

B.E. "Bill" Ledford
SHELBY - Mr. Billy Edwin "Bill" Ledford, 74, of 821 Hill St., died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of Wilma Camp Ledford of Shelby and the late Crayton Ledford. He retired as manager of One-Hour Martinizing Cleaners, where he worked 11 years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of the Marines and the Army.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean Ledford and Don Ledford, and a sister, Marjorie Anthony.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Margie Bivins Ledford of the home; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Neal Blanton of Shelby and Dorothy Bardwell of New Orleans.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, with Dr. Reginald Dawkins officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

John McBrayer
SHELBY - Mr. John Z. McBrayer, 84, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, formerly of Mooresboro, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert Will and Buna Packard McBrayer. He graduated from Elon College and was a Life Term Member of the Alumni Board. He taught and coached at Polkville High School before entering military service. He was a member and former president of Shelby Lions Club, was named Lion of the Year and a Melvin Jones Fellow. In 1944, he received the Jaycee Young Man of the Year Award.
During World War II, he served in China with the 14th Air Force, known as the Flying Tigers, as a B24 pilot. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
He retired from J.P. Stevens, where he served as office manager for 33 years. He was a member and former deacon of Sandy Run Baptist Church, and he served on the advisory board of Gardner-Webb University.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Williams McBrayer.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carole M. and Donald J. Allen of Shelby; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Elaine B. McBrayer of Jamestown; two granddaughters, Michelle L. Allen of Shelby and Laura A. McBrayer of Jamestown; two grandsons, Jeff Allen of Shelby and Ryan McBrayer of Jamestown; and a special friend, Margaret McSwain of Swainsville.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Sandy Run Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Hendrick officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services. At other times, the family will be at the home of Carole Allen, 2601 Spring Valley Terrace, Shelby.

Mary Beal
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Mary Russ Beal, 81, of 302 Pine Ave., died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Lincoln Medical Center.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville, with the Rev. Dr. Billy Lowe officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Rosalie Nolan
SHELBY - Mrs. Rosalie Moore Nolan, 88, of 601 Royster Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Martha Justice Moore. She retired from Dover Textiles, where she worked as a winder tender. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church and the Esther Bible Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest N. Nolan; four brothers, Robert Moore, Hershel Moore, Thurman Moore and Walter Moore; and two sisters, Maude Pritchett and Pearl Kendrick.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan M. Nolan of the home; two sisters, Gertrude Spangler of Charleston, S.C., and Margaret Grist of Lexington; and two brothers, Roy Moore of Greenville, S.C., and Bill Moore Jr. of Cotton Wood, Ariz.
The funeral is today at 3 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Brackett officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. At others times, they will be at the home.

Mattie Ponder
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Mattie Shuford Ponder, 94, of White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, formerly of Grover, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at her home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John Jacob and Ella Bridges Shuford and the widow of Robert Hoyle Ponder. She retired from the textile industry and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Ponder Reynolds; three sons-in-law, B. Hayes Ledford, Carl Reynolds and Charles W. Mullinax; three brothers, Bryan Shuford, Joe Shuford and Ray Shuford; and three sisters, Georgia Allen, Pearl Allen and Sally Randall.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Joyce and Hugh Mauney of Shelby, and Bleeka and Ralph Dee Goforth, Linda and Wayne Appling and Treva Mullinax, all of Kings Mountain; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grover Cemetery, with the Rev. David Turner officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Harris Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

Charles Scott
SHELBY - Mr. Charles Sam Scott, 50, of 932 Hampton St., Apt. 31, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Lawndale First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy Houze officiating. Burial will be in Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

John Self Jr.
LAWNDALE - Mr. John Rielley Self Jr., 43, of 303 Grigg St., died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Rielley Self Sr. and Natha Lee Walker Self. He was a welder and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred S. Greene.
He is survived by a son, Jason Lee Self, and a daughter, Amber Elizabeth Self, both of Lincolnton; a sister, Pearl Owens of Lawndale; three nephews, Randy Greene, Chris Davis and Chuck Davis; and a niece, Angela Huber.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel in Fallston, with the Rev. Jim Scott officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the home of Pearl and Wade Owens, 426 Lawndale-Casar Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.
