Earl Greeson
CONOVER - Mr. Earl Roosevelt Greeson, 83, of 602 1st Street West, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Brian Center East in Hickory.
Born Aug. 16, 1917, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late John William and Nannie Kilby Greeson. He was a member of North Newton Baptist Church. He was a former supervisor with Clyde Fabrics and had also worked with and retired from Drum Funeral Home in Conover. A Marine veteran, he served during World War II. He had also volunteered with Newton-Conover Rescue Squad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Daisy Jones, and three brothers, Ray Greeson, Willie Greeson and Walter Bradshaw.
He is survived by his wife, Macie Keever Greeson of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Ronald Spencer of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Janice and Rick Shull of Shelby; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Kathy Greeson of Claremont and Dale Sr. and Nina Greeson of Conover; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at North Newton Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Hester officiating. The casket will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lance Spencer, Lionel Spencer, Garrett Spencer, Dale Greeson Jr., Scott Canipe and Greg Royal. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of North Newton Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
Memorials may be made to North Newton Baptist Church, 316 West 21st St., Newton, NC 28658.

Priscilla Jackson
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Priscilla Shull Jackson, 51, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The graveside funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City, with Mr. Billy Barnette and the Rev. Larry Lows officiating.
Harrelson Funeral Home of Caroleen is in charge of arrangements.

Maggie Morgan
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Maggie Adams Morgan, 83, of 107 Lake Montonia Road, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born Jan. 3, 1918, in Kings Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Mamie Stowe Adams.
She joined Galilee United Methodist Church at an early age and attended on a regular basis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Hopper; and two brothers, Coleman Adams and Roger Adams.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Theodore Morgan of the home; three sons, Douglas Morgan and his wife, Drucilla, of Winston-Salem, Ted Morgan Jr., and Terry Morgan and his wife, Jackie, of Charlotte; two sisters, Sadie McClain and Sue Frances Adams of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Sam Adams of Kings Mountain and Kelly Adams of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Teri Morgan White of Washington, D.C., Cheri Morgan of Charlotte and Albert Morgan of Winston-Salem; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Galilee United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Clarence Wright officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.

Ray Wilkerson
SPINDALE - Mr. Ray Wilkerson, 76, of 1402 Shanandoah Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at his home.
Born in Rutherford County March 28, 1924, he was a son of the late Willie J. and Retta Hall Wilkerson. He worked as a fixer at Stonecutter Mills, and was a member, deacon and former treasurer of Gold Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Wilkerson of Spindale; two daughters, Catherine Goode of Shelby and Patricia Littlejohn of Spindale; a son, Boyce Wilkerson of Spindale; two sisters, Mary Lou Mills and Margaret Washington; four brothers, Holbert Wilkerson, John Lee Wilkerson, Lee Roy Wilkerson and Worth Wilkerson; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Gold Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Conway Mason officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
Crowe Funeral Home of Rutherfordton is in charge of arrangements.
Demyris Roberts SHELBY - Mr. Demyris Sentell Roberts, 21, of 322 Morrison St., died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

Dorothy Ollis
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Dorothy Kidd Ollis, 91, of 200 Twelve Oaks Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Willow Ridge Nursing Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home of Bostic.

Annie Webber
SHELBY - Mrs. Annie Ruth Brown Webber, 86, formerly of Petersburg, Va., died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Born in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Gamwell and Bessie Well Brown. She retired from Emerson TV and Radio Corp. after 30 years' service. She was a member of New Life Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Webber; three brothers, Broadus Brown, James Brown and Carl Brown; and a sister, Mattie Mae White.
She is survived by a brother, George Brown of Raleigh; three sisters-in-law, Cleo Pearson of Shelby, Vernell Brown of Kings Mountain and Kathleen Brown of Raleigh; and many other relatives.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at New Life Christian Church in Kings Mountain, with the Rev. H.L. Rhedrick officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lawndale.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Vernell Brown, 413 Mary's Grove Church Road, Kings Mountain.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

William Phillips
BOILING SPRINGS - Mr. William Tell Phillips, 71, of 2913 Lon St., died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

Michelle Mull
CHERRYVILLE - Miss Michelle Lynne Mull, 17, of 110 Dick Beam Road, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Donna Putnam of the home and Walter Charles of Waco and the stepdaughter of Richard Putnam of the home and Carolyn Sue Mull of Waco. She was a senior at Cherryville High School and worked part time at Triple H Restaurant in Cherryville. She was a member of Waco Baptist Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was a counselor at South Mountain Baptist Camp and an assistant youth director at Waco Baptist Church. She was also CHS wrestling team trainer and a member of the track team. She was photographer and sports editor of the Chenoca Year Book staff. She was a junior varsity cheerleader. She was a member of advanced chorus, all-county chorus, Gardner-Webb choral clinic, FOE, FCA, HOSA, Interact Club, Junior Civitan Club, prom committee, softball team and was a Special Olympics volunteer.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mull and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Martin, all of Waco, and Margie Putnam of Cherryville; great-grandmother, Bessie Cobb of Cherryville; one brother, Junior Allen of Kings Mountain; three stepsisters, Candace Putnam of Myrtle Beach and Ruby Fail and Tammy Bridges, both of Waco; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Waco Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wade Huntsinger officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Ronnie McDowell
STATESVILLE - Mr. Ronnie McDowell, 49, of 903 McLaughlin St., formerly of Rutherford County, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church in Henrietta, with Dr. L.W. Jackson officiating. The body will be placed in the church two hours before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Thompson Brothers Funeral Home of Forest City is in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille Key
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Lucille Lawrence Key, 99, of White Oak Manor, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at her residence.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Dockery's Home of Funerals Inc.

Vivian Vassy
GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mrs. Vivian P. Vassy, 89, 405 Anthony St., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, with the Revs. Joel Sellers, Ronnie Cox, Terry Duvall and Scott Hammett officiating. Burial will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends ninety minutes before the service and at other times at their respective homes.

Dorothy Carpenter
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Dorothy Mauney Carpenter, 77, of 303 West Main St., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
The graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at City Memorial Cemetery, with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home.
Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Ollis
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Dorothy Kidd Ollis, 91, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Willow Ridge Nursing Center in Rutherfordton.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Washburn and Dorsey Funeral Home, Bostic.

John Lail
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. John Marion "Johnny Boy" Lail, 57, of White Oak Manor, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at his residence.
A native of Cleveland County, he was son of the late John Belo and Evie Oaks Lail. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by several cousins.
The graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 1:30 to 2:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Samuel Hopper
SHELBY - Mr. Samuel Hopper, 57, of 308 Suttle St., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Hospice of Wendover.
A private service was held Monday.
Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William Phillips
BOILING SPRINGS - Mr. William Tell Phillips, 71, of 2913 Lon St., died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at his home.
He was the son of the late Haskell and Myrle Jeffries Phillips and a native of Cleveland County. He was retired from Albert Glen Lumber Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of Green Bethel Baptist Church and an Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one brother Thomas Phillips; and four sisters Jessie Mae Etchison, Frances Gentry, Rachel Phillips and Louise Phillips.
He is survived by four children Kay Phillips of Boiling Springs, Grayln Phillips of Alexandria, Va., Thomas Dean Phillips of Charlotte, and Lonnie McDowell of Boiling Springs; four sisters, Ollie Thompson of Shelby, Myrle Blanton and Betty Phillips of Boiling Springs and Janice Thurman of Cleveland, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a devoted friend, Katheryn Ross, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Green Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends for 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Preston Cross Jr.
SHELBY - Mr. Preston Lamar Cross Jr., 40, of 1110 Spann St., died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The family will be at 207 New Hope Road, Lawndale.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Genesis Funeral Service and Chapel.

Outhone Sourisoud
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Outhone Sourisoud, 38, of 314 Amherst Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at his home. The funeral is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel of Harris Funeral Home.

Douglas Leonhardt
COWANS FORD - Mr. Douglas Leonhardt, 40, of 1076 Shoreline Drive, Stanley, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Denver United Methodist Church in Denver with the Revs. Jim Pyatt and Jimmy Galloway officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cherryville. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. James Brittan Humphries, 40, of 237 Griggs Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at his home. A graveside service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Antioch Church Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon Craig officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg, S.C., and at other times at 310 Antioch Road in Blacksburg.

James Atkins
SHELBY - Mr. James Junior Atkins, 41, of 100 Lake St., Apartment 4, Shelby, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.
