GROVER - Mrs. Mary Victoria Putnam, 79, of 1008 Cleveland Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at her home.
A native of Greenville, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Helen Jordan Mullinax. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Grover and retired from the textile industry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, James Evan Martin Felkel.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Eugene Putnam of Grover; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jackie Raduly of Grover, Jeanie and Larry Hall Sr. of Grover, and Vickie and Benny Bingman of Newport News, Va.; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Kim West and husband, Glenn, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Lesa Jefferies and husband, Johnny, of Gaffney, S.C.; Tommy Martin and wife, Sandi, of York, S.C., Darrin Griggs and wife, Aina, of Oslo, Norway, Sean Griggs of Grover, Larry Hall Jr. of Grover, Robin Smith and husband, Robert, of Piedmont, S.C. and Chris Hall and wife, Alison, of Blacksburg, S.C.; and, 13 great-grandchildren, Hunter Felkel and Trevor Felkel, both of Blacksburg, Brittany West, Kristen West, both of Myrtle Beach, Stacy Jefferies of Gaffney, Garrett Martin of York, Tobias Griggs and Finn Griggs, both of Oslo, Norway, Anthony Hall of Greenville, Janice Smith and Austin Smith of Piedmont, Kayla Hall and Danielle Hall of Blacksburg.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Grover with the Dr. Tony Fulbright officiating. Burial will follow in Grover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain and at others times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Road, Shelby, NC 28150.

Elsie Proctor
FOREST CITY - Miss Elsie Mabel Proctor, 94, of 178 Briarwood Lane died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, in the Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Burial will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at The Padgett and King Mortuary and at other times at the home of Hilda Proctor, Windover Drive in Forest City.

Annie R. Webber
SHELBY - Ms. Annie Ruth Webber, 85, formerly of Buffalo Street, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

Guy Timmons Jr.
CHERRYVILLE - Mr. Guy Thelmon Timmons Jr., 74, of 709 Hillsdale Drive, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Hospice of Wendover in Shelby.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Gail Canipe
SHELBY - Mrs. Gail Queen Canipe, 58, of 1201 Hardin Drive, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Albert and Belle Brittain Queen. She was a homemaker and a member of Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Piedmont High School and Howard's Business College.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Queen; and a sister, Betty Queen Byrd.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Deward A. Canipe of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Andy and Stephanie Canipe of Kannapolis and Scott and Cindy Canipe of Forest City; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lathan and Sarah Queen and Jerry and Wanda Queen, all of Lawndale; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Herman Rodden of Charlotte and Martha and Steve Edwards of Concord; one sister, Debbie Queen of Shelby; one brother-in-law, Arthur M. Byrd of Lawndale; one sister-in-law, Nancy Queen of Polkville; and four grandchildren, Grayson Canipe, Zachary Canipe, Will Canipe and Kaitlyn Canipe.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church with the Revs. Rick Clough Jr. and Fred Towery officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

Georgia Willis
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Georgia Willis, 94, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
The funeral is today at 1 p.m. at Watkins Garrett and Woods Mortuary. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends Friday at Watkins Garrett and Woods Mortuary.

Maggie Morgan
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Maggie Morgan, 83, of 107 Lake Montonia Road, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home.

Yogi Atkins
SHELBY - Mr. James Adam "Yogi" Atkins, 41, of 100 Lake St., died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Joann Lee Atkins of Shelby and the late James "Moses" Atkins. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Young Atkins of the home; three daughters, Tiara Atkins of the home, Lyric Atkins of Shelby, and Olivia Atkins of Chapel Hill; three sons, Joshua Atkins of the home, and Shaw Smith and Jason Atkins, both of Shelby; two paternal sisters, Graces Briscoe and Cassandra "Susie" Jones, both of Shelby; and one paternal brother, Riley "Ray" Peeler of Salisbury.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. R.E. Devoe officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Davison
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Clarence F. Davison, 80, of 1718 Countyline Road, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at VA Hospital in Asheville.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Harris Funeral Home.

Everette Hill
HICKORY - Mr. Everette Ruthan Hill, 61, of 741 7th Avenue Court S.E., died at the Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Clinton Tabernacle AME Zion Church with the Rev. Lenton D. Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.
Thompson Brothers Funeral Home of Forest City is in charge of the arrangements.

Annie Long
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Annie Sue Griffin Long, 84, of 135 Hazlewood Drive, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Clinard officiating. Burial will be in Brittain Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crowe's Funeral Home, Rutherfordton.

Charles Gamble
BESSEMER CITY - Mr. Charles Gamble, 51, of 806 W. Alamba Ave., died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Saint James Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Wayne Love officiating. Burial will be in Vantine Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
J.W. Gill and Sons Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, is in charge of arrangements.

Amy Ware
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Amy Loretta Dover Ware, 89, of 905 Delview Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Carolina Care Center.
A native of Buncombe County, she was born Sept. 7, 1911, a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Mary Alice Reavis Dover. She was a member of Sparrow Springs Baptist Church in Gastonia, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She won the 1999 Mother of the Year award. She was a singer on the church's radio program at WKMT in Kings Mountain and was a retired textile worker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ware; brothers, Levi Dover, Oliver Dover and Lawrence Dover; and three sisters, Lura Anderson, Laura Anderson and Kitty Palm.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Linda Erby of Cherryville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margie and Herman Wright of Kings Mountain and Geneva and James Bowen of Bessemer City; six grandchildren, Chris Wright, Ricky Ware, Sonja Davis, Melissa Erby, Louise Bowen and Paulette Bridges; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Gospel Way Baptist Church with the Revs. Roy Clark, Herman Simpson and Bobby Meeks officiating.
Burial will be in the Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Westside Chapel of Greene Funeral Service tonight from 7 to 9.

Cynt Brooks
SHELBY - Miss Cynthia Diane "Cynt" Brooks, 37, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born on Jan. 15, 1964, in Cleveland County, she a daughter of Lucrecia Thomas "Noot" Brooks and the late Joe Wess Brooks.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Rosa Bell Wright Thomas and Wess and Mildred Degree Brooks; three aunts; and five uncles.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Crystal Sheree "Gucci" Brooks of Shelby; a sister, Shelia A. Brooks of Shelby; a brother, Leonard Huskey of Oakland, Calif.; a nephew, Travis T. Brooks of Kings Mountain; two nieces, Tonya Gill and Peaches Gill, both of Forest City; one great-nephew, Travis T. Brooks Jr. of Shelby; and a very special friend, Terry Wright of Shelby; three aunts, Elizabeth Jones, Marie Poston and Hattie Mae Dawkins, all of Shelby; three uncles, Big Bill Brooks of Shelby and Grady Thomas and Emmett Thomas, both of Washington, D.C.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at in the chapel of Genesis Funeral Home with Bishop Eugene Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her mother, Lucrecia T. Brooks, at 302 Lineberger St., Shelby.

Vivian Knox
GROVER - Ms. Vivian Ross Knox, 36, of 115 McGinnis Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at her home.
She was a daughter of J.R. and Lena Little Ross of Shelby. She was employed as a co-manager at the One Stop store in Shelby, and she was also employed at the Canteen at Copeland for 10 years. She was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church, where she was a former chairperson of the kitchen committee and a former teacher at the Cleveland County Girls Club.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dean Ross; a sister, Debra Ann Ross; her paternal grandfather, Mr. Bert Ross; and her maternal grandparents, Neach and Gertie Wilson Little.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Johnny Glenn Knox of Ashland, Ky.; three daughters, Maricara Nicole Knox, Melody Jade Knox and Melisha Page Knox, all of the home; one brother, Rodney Ross of Boiling Springs; three sisters, Tammy Ross Streeter of Waco, Tereasa Ross Watson and Darlene Ross Epps, both of Kings Mountain; and a grandmother, Dora Johnson Ross of Shelby.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Ramseur Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Ramseur officiating.
The body will be placed in the church two hours before the service.
Burial will be at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the home of her parents at 921 Logan St., Shelby.

Elizabeth Keel
SHELBY - Mrs. Elizabeth Patrick Keel, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 23, 1913, in York, S.C. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and a retired school teacher with the Shelby School System. She was a member of Shelby Presbyterian Church. She liked to travel, quilt and tatt and collect rocks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Keel; her son, Charles Patrick Keel; her daughter, Cecelia Howard Keel; and a sister, Martha Busby.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gretchen and Marvin Martin of York; two nephews, Bill Martin and William "Buzzy" Busby; and two great-nephews, Patrick Martin and Brandon Martin.
A memorial service will be today at 3 p.m. at Shelby Presbyterian Church with Dr. Luke Harkey officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be made to Shelby Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1444, Shelby, NC 28151; or to the charity of choice.
Palmer Mortuary of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.

Bertha Turner
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Bertha Millwood Turner, 92, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Glenwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.

J. Frank Wells Sr.
HENRIETTA - Mr. J. Frank Wells Sr., 80, of N. Main Street, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Avondale United Methodist Church with the Revs. Anthony Moore and William Stroud officiating. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery in Forest City.
The family received friends Saturday at Harrelson Funeral Home.

Myrtle Dover
SHELBY - Mrs. Myrtle Dover, 97, of White Oak Manor and formerly of 109 Textile St., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at White Oak Manor.
