Lovella Sellers
SHELBY - Mrs. Lovella Robinson Sellers, 68, of 218 Broad St., formerly of Bessemer City, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Clinton, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Maggie Blackwelder Robinson. She was formerly employed with McBess Industries and later retired from Danalex in Bessemer City. She attended Way of the Cross Baptist Church in Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wesley Sellers; four brothers, Wesley Robinson, Walter Robinson, J.C. Robinson and Everette Robinson; and two sisters, Naomi Melling and Evelyn Robinson.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Melanie Massagee of Bessemer City; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Everette Bowen of Shelby; a stepson, Dr. Bobby Sellers and his wife, Sue; a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Claudia Robinson of Bessemer City; three sisters, Sarah Kelly of Bessemer City, Guynelle Oliver of Kings Mountain and Eva Mae Emory of Cowpens, S.C.; grandchildren, Ericka Massagee of Dallas and Jamie Riddle and his wife, Angie, of Lincolnton; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Riddle of Lincolnton.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City, with Drs. Billy Bowen and Michael Keough officiating. Burial will be in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

Richard Frye
FALLSTON - Mr. Richard McRee Frye, 73, of 410 Wilson Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby.
A native of Catawba County, he was born July 16, 1927, and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a retired construction foreman and a veteran of the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Peyton and Etta Lee McRee Frye.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lattimore Frye; three sons and daughters-in-law, Danny M. and Ann Frye of Camden, S.C., Kenneth and Mary Frye and Greg and Mary Frye, all of Fallston; a brother, Joe Frye of Wilmington; a sister, Katie Sigmon of Greensboro; nine grandchildren, Chris Frye, Maxcy Frye, Kimberly Frye, Vess Frye, Madeline Frye, Molly Frye, Samantha Frye, Sara Frye and Hannah Frye.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Lawndale, with the Rev. Ronell Owensby officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home.

Nathalee Hord
MORGANTON - Mrs. Nathalee Ramsy Hord, 78, of Hasting Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Hospice of Burke County Shytle House.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Home Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jerry Gamble and Lanny Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Carter Thomas
BURNSVILLE - Mr. Carter Thomas, 86, of the Double Island Community, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, in an Asheville hospital.
Born in Yancey County, he was a son of the late Jobe and Hattie Hughes Thomas. He was a charter member and past master of Burnsville Lodge No. 717 A.F. & A.M., a lifetime member of Double Island Baptist Church and a former member of the Yancey County Board of Education. After retiring from Deneen Mica Co., he loved woodworking, making wooden toys and puzzles. For the past four years, he had been a resident of the Alzheimer's Unit of Black Mountain Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Edith McIntosh Thomas, who died in 2000; a granddaughter, Debbie Curtis; and brothers and sisters, George Thomas, Maude Thomas, Guy Thomas, Frank Thomas, Rass Thomas and J.B. Thomas.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Jim Curtis of Clyde, Judy and Bill Cullum of Shelby and Rebecca and Kevin Ray of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, Deanna Smith and her husband, Kelly, of Gastonia, Tonya Geneau and her husband, Jeff, of Jacksonville, Fla., Shena Ray of Anchorage, Billy Cullum of Pahoa, Hawaii, and Christy Cullum of Winston-Salem; one great-grandson, Hunter Geneau; a sister, Pauline Johnson of Green Mountain; and a brother, Donald Thomas of Asheboro.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home in Burnsville, with the Rev. Ricky Woody officiating. Burial will be in Double Island Baptist Church Cemetery, with Masonic rites by Burnsville Lodge No. 717 A.F. & A.M.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
Memorials may be made to Black Mountain Center, Alzheimer's Unit R3, 1280 Old Highway 70 West, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

Ruffin Hudson
CONNELLY SPRINGS - Mr. Ruffin Hudson, 76, of 6756 Old N.C. 18, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston, with the Rev. Keith Fulbright officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Stamey Funeral Home.

Ruby Caldwell
SHELBY - Miss Ruby J. Caldwell, 68, of 911-B Foxcroft Circle, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 20, 1932, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Bessie Johnson Caldwell. She was a member of Fairview AME Zion Church in Earl and a former member of New Hope Baptist Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Alyicia and William Manning; two grandsons, Warren Manning and Bryan Manning, all of Shelby; one great-grandson, Ju'Warren Manning of Grover; one brother, L.J. Caldwell of Baltimore, one sister, Martha Dawkins of Grover; four sisters-in-law, Alice Caldwell and Marian Caldwell of Shelby, Eleanor Caldwell of Spartanburg, S.C., and Rebecca Caldwell of Baltimore; special friends, Thomas and Thelma Bradley of Charlotte; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Fairview AME Zion Church in Earl, with the Rev. Marion Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.
J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home of Kings Mountain is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Black
SHELBY - Mrs. Alice Louise Black, 74, of 1623 New House Road, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Nancy Earls Jenkins. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ed Black, and four sisters, Cora Lee Mathis, Lillie Bell Cogdell, Bertha Cogdell and Dolly Mae Bridges.
She is survived by her husband, Odus Black of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Pat Black of Shelby; a daughter-in-law, Lurine Black of Shelby; two granddaughters and their husbands, Gina B. and Phillip Hamrick of Shelby and Teresa and DeWayne Martin of Bostic; three grandsons and their wives, James and Roxanne Byers, Sandy and Sandra Black and Billy and Jackie Black, all of Shelby; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services, with the Revs. Curtis Gilstrap and Steve Barham officiating. Burial will be in Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8, at the funeral home and at other times at the home, and at 2137 Rehobeth Church Road, Shelby.

Catholine Burns
SHELBY - Miss Catholine Lucille Burns, 70, of 305 Debby Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born in Union County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Otis McNoa and Amanda Cagle Burns. She retired from Shelby Elastic as an inspector and was a member of Shelby Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Otis Nelson Burns.
She is survived by three sisters, Geneva Burns, Nellie Burns and Willie Burns, all of Shelby; and a niece, nephew and great-niece.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services, with the Rev. Terry Graves officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home, and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

Irvin Dantzic
FOREST CITY - Mr. Irvin Dantzic, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at his home.
Born in Cumberland, Md., he was a son of the late Sidney and Ruth Wenrich Dantzic. He served with Air Force Military Intelligence during World War II and was a retired movie theater owner-operator. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte and a former volunteer with Hospice of Rutherford County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Berry Dantzic.
He is survived by his friend and companion, Bobbie Bridges; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Keith Dobbins of Forest City; a son and daughter-in-law, Miles and Margo Gunnin of Forest City; a stepson and his wife, John and Gail Flynn of Kentucky; a stepdaughter and her husband, Judi and Stuart Schmitz of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The memorial service is today at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Gabriel Meehan officiating. Burial will be in Clearville, Pa., at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043, or to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 1024 West Main St., Forest City, NC 28043.

Clyde Jones
BOSTIC - Mr. Clyde G. Jones, 83, of 617 Jonestown Road, Golden Valley, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Moore
BOILING SPRINGS - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Jones Moore, 88, of 1230 South College Ave., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
A native of Wadesboro, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin C. and Rita Flake Jones. She retired as a registered nurse and former director of nursing at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Shelby Hospital School of Nursing, and she furthered her studies at the University of Virginia. She was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. E.V. Moore.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Holland Victor Moore and his wife, Jane, of Augusta, Ga., and two grandchildren, John Holland Moore and Emily Elizabeth Moore of Augusta.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home, with Dr. Carroll Page officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Miles Baker
SHELBY - Mr. Miles L. Baker of White Oak Manor in Shelby died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cleveland Funeral Services.

Amanda Hoey
SHELBY - Ms. Amanda Hoey, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

Louise Kilber
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Louise C. Kilber, 87, of White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at her home.
Born in Cleveland County on Sept. 16, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Sidney and Florence Webber Cansler. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. There she served as supervisor of the Junior Usher Board, advisor of the Juniors, teacher in Sunday school, Bible school and Baptist Training Union, member of the Nancy Caldwell Missionary Group, a deaconess and as a member of various committees.
She was head custodian at Central School for 19 years. She was also employed by Craft Spun Mills and in the nursery of Boyce Memorial ARP Church in Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther "Kib" Kilber; three brothers, Julius B. Cansler, Sidney Cansler and Clarence Cansler; a three sisters, Virinia C. Hillard, Eveleen C. Durham and Viola C. Hardy.
She is survived by Ernest Cansler Jr. of Louisville, Ky., and Eugene B. Williams of Kings Mountain, sons she raised as her own; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sylvester Cansler of Lincolnton, Sam and Lietitia Cansler of Shelby, and Ernest Cansler Sr. of New Jersey; a goddaughter, Guyneth Warren of Kings Mountain; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor C.A. Feemster officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.
J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
