Ella Morgan
SHELBY - Mrs. Ella Kee Morgan, 107, of 1509 Charles Road, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at her home.
A native of York County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Eliza Field Kee. She later moved to North Carolina and joined Shoal Creek Baptist Church, where she served in Missionary Circle No. 3.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Andrew Lee Morgan; seven brothers, Will Kee, James Kee, Melvin Kee, Wheeler Kee, Ezra Kee, John Kee and George Kee; four sisters, Avie Edwards, Nora McLily, Essie Bailey and Passie Kee; five daughters, Genevia Elmore, Nannie Moorehead, Julie Huskey, Nora Hopper and Maezola Morgan; five sons, Nesbit Morgan, George William Morgan, the Rev. Mac Daniel Morgan Sr., John Edward Morgan and Minuel Morgan.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen Morgan Woods of the home; a son, Walter Lee Morgan of Charlotte; four daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Archie Morgan and Elizabeth Livsey Morgan, both of Shelby, and Rosie Mae Morgan and Inez Hall Morgan, both of Charlotte; 44 grandchildren; 109 great- grandchildren; and 121 great-great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Isaac, Eula Miller, Strickland Maddox and Willie Dean Wray officiating.
The body will be placed in the church two hours before the service.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service and at the home.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Withrow's Funeral Home in Kings Mountain is in charge of arrangements.

Nishey McKee
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Nishey Nanney McKee, 79, of 165 Dillashaw Drive, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at her home.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cooper Springs Holiness Church Cemetery with the Rev. Wesley Hudgins officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crowe's Funeral Home.

Zack Robinson
GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mr. Zack Robinson, 76, of 153 Concord Road, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Genesis Funeral Service Chapel, Shelby.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Mildred Phillips
RUTHERFORDTON - Ms. Mildred C. Phillips, 69, of Willow Ridge Nursing Center, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late E.M. and Ellie I. Phillips. She was a self-employed beautician.
She is survived by a brother, Leonard Phillips of Lincolnton; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Maxine Ross of Kings Mountain, Vasteen Tarlton of Lincolnton and Aileen and David Beam of Shelby; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services with the Revs. Jeff Brendle and Terry Jordon officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Aileen and David Beam, 2610 Taylor Road, Shelby.
Memorials may be made to Willow Ridge Nursing Center, 237 Tryon Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.

Carrie Honeycutt
OAKBORO - Mrs. Carrie Thomas Honeycutt, 89, of 924 Center St., died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Stanly Manor.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Oakboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leslee Wray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family receive received friends Wednesday night at Hartsell Funeral Home in.

Thurman Beheler
LAKE LURE - Mr. Thurman Michael "Tim" Beheler, 54, of 2949 Memorial Highway, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Elizabeth House in Hendersonville.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Crowe's Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Sanders and Jim Frost officiating. Burial will be in the Roberson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Devon Bingham
WACO - Mr. B. Devon Bingham, 75, of 156 Bingham Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Alvin and Bertha Ward Bingham. He retired from Southern Bell of Charlotte after 331/2 years of service. He was a member of Waco Baptist Church of Waco and the W.H. Dodd Sunday School Class. Mr. Bingham was also a member of the Cherryville Masonic Lodge No. 505, Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 156 of Cherryville, member of Scottish Rites in Charlotte, Cherryville Shrine Club, Gaston Shrine Club, Shriners Hillbilly Clan No. 13, American Legion Post No. 100 of Cherryville and a life member of Bell South Pioneers Chapter No. 35 Foothill Council. He was also a member of the Navy during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lamar Bingham.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Jarrett Bingham of the home; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra Bingham and Michel Badawi of Charlotte and Jane Bingham and Darrell Howell of Waco; and three grandchildren, Angele Badawi and Steven Badawi, both of Charlotte, and Jonathan Howell of Waco.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Waco Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Moss officiating. Burial will be in Capernaum cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 7:30 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Waco Baptist Church, Building Fund, 262 N. Main St., Waco, NC 28169; Shriners Hospital , 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605; and Oxford Orphanage, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.

Marie Moore
CHESTER, S.C. - Mrs. Marie Wood Moore, 97, of Presbyterian Home in Clinton, S.C., died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at the Presbyterian Home.
A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with the Revs. Chip Sneed, Robert Hare and Keith Grogg officiating.
A memorial service will follow the graveside service at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
Barron Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Sisk
BOILING SPRINGS - Mr. Robert Garland Sisk, 93, of 2311 College Farm Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late David J. and Ira Gosey Sisk. He was employed at Ester Mill and was in the Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Collins Sisk; three brothers, Willie Sisk, John Sisk and Carmie Sisk; and four sisters, Essie Kinley, Lib Campbell, Susan Davis and Martha Williams.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty Bridges of Boiling Springs; three grandchildren, Wanda Conaway of Sparta and Darryl Bridges and Robert Bridges, both of Boiling Springs; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with Dr. Carroll Page and the Rev. Charles Kinley officiating. Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Boiling Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 917 Boiling Springs, NC 28017.

Sadie McClain
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Sadie Roberta McClain, 74, of 1112 York Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Galilee United Methodist Church with Dr. D.A. Powell officiating. Burial will be at Adams Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.

Janice Johnson
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga.- Ms. Janice Smith Johnson, 56, formerly of Bessemer City, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at her home.
She was the daughter of Elsie Cook McKinish of Rutherfordton and the late Fred C. Smith. She was a graduate of Bessemer City High School and retired from Equifax in Atlanta.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tina Johnson of Winston-Salem; one brother, George Smith of Shelby; two nieces, Carmen Smith and Brittany Smith, both of Shelby; a devoted companion, Howard Sloat of Stone Mountain and his son, Howard Sloat III of Florida and daughter, Katie Wolczek and her husband, Vinny of Atlanta; a special aunt, Mary Almond of Charlotte; and a special friend, Joyce Buckner of Kings Mountain.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bessemer City with the Rev. Tim Trexler officiating. Burial will follow in the Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
The family will receive friends Saturday two hours before the service at the funeral home.

Ellis Martin
LAWNDALE - Mr. Ellis Martin, 76, of 802 Sugar Hill Road, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

Connie McGinnis
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Connie Caldwell McGinnis, 85, of 910 Vista Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 21, 1915, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Emma McKinsey Caldwell. She was a homemaker. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Cherryville, where she taught the youth in Sunday school and training union for 40 years. She was affectionately known as "Mom" to everyone in her church family and was an avid reader and a faithful patron of the Cherryville branch of the Gaston County Library.
She is survived by her husband, John Edward McGinnis of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law, "Larry" Herman and Barbara McGinnis and J. Morris and Jackie McGinnis, all of Cherryville; five grandchildren, Tony McGinnis and his wife, Mary Elaine, Kim Cartee and her husband, Steve, R.T. McGinnis, Seberina McGinnis and Kendra McGinnis; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow in the City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at First Baptist Church in Cherryville.

Janie Wright
ARCHDALE - Mrs. Janie Wright, 84, of 625 Ashland St., formerly of Shelby, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Westwood Health and Rehabilitation.
A native of Zebulon, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Washington and Buena Bridges Greene. She lived in Cleveland County for many years. She was a retired winder from Dover Mill Co., where she had worked for 25 years. She was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Victor Wright; and a son, Larry Wright.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Wright of Thomasville and David Wright of Archdale; one brother, Tyree Greene of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Double Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Minnie Haynes
HICKORY - Mrs. Minnie Bell Whaley Haynes, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at the Pellcare Nursing Home in Hickory.
Born Feb. 17, 1918, in Green County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late George and Cora Greenard Whaley. She and her family came to North Carolina in 1928 and made their home in Cleveland County. She attended Palmer Grove School and Palmer Grove Baptist Church in Polkville, which was founded by her parents. Joining the church at an early age, she was a faithful member. She was employed as a domestic worker for a number of years prior to her retirement to be a homemaker for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wade Haynes; one daughter, Barbara Ann Haynes Ussery; two sons, James Edward "Dean" Haynes and Calvin Haynes; three sisters, Fannie Lou Whaley Griggs, Doris Whaley and Margaret Whaley Thornton; three brothers, George Whaley Jr., Robert Whaley and Leroy Whaley; and one grandson, Darryl Levon Haynes.
She is survived by two daughters and three sons-in-law, Eva Mae H. and Grover C. Ussery of Lawndale, Betty Sue H. and Leonard Clemmons of Hickory and Charlie Ussery of Kings Mountain; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Wade "June" and Johnnie Petty Haynes and Melvin "Bo" Haynes, all of Hickory, Charles Leroy and Ruby Sawyer Haynes and Gerald Thomas and Gloria Glover Haynes, all of Kingstown, Izzie Mae M. Haynes of Lawndale and Richard Alexander "Dickie" Haynes of the home; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lillian Whaley and David Harrison, Mae Ola Whaley Sheppard, Christine Whaley and Stanley Washington and Cora Lee Whaley and Hamp Thornton, all of Washington, D.C.; one aunt, Elvira Jackson of Atlanta; 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Palmer Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church.
Dockery's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mabeleigh Cooper
SHELBY - Mrs. Mabeleigh Campbell Cooper, 86, of 214 Gold St., died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Shytle House in Valdese.
Born in Dillon, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Daniel Odell and Mamie Collins Campbell. She graduated Americus High School in Americus, Ga., attended Georgia Southern College, taught in the preschool department at First Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C., and taught at Meade Hall in Aiken. She retired as housemother at Meredith College in Raleigh. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Cooper Sr., and a brother, Harry Odell Campbell.
She is survived by a son and his wife, the Rev. William "Billy" Cooper Jr. and Carolyn of Morganton; a sister, Dorothea Logan of Shelby; three grandchildren, Emily Monroe and her husband, Thomas, and Faithe Beam and her husband, Tom, all of Shelby, and Amy Christine Cooper of Nashville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Mallory Monroe and Angus Monroe; and two nephews, James W. Logan of Anderson, S.C., and Stan Logan of Shelby.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tony Tench and Dr. Gene Watterson officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. at Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, S.C., with the Rev. Glenn Davenport officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home in Shelby. At other times, the family will be at the home of Emily and Thomas Monroe, 126 Hillside Drive, Shelby.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Burke County, P.O. Box 1029, Valdese, NC 28690.

LINCOLNTON - Mr. Charlie "Pop Charlie" Manning, 90, formerly of 1428 Little Valley Lane, Lincolnton, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro.
