Edna Wagstaff
SHELBY - Mrs. Edna Perryman Wagstaff, 87, of Shelby, formerly of Huntersville, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 20, 1913, in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nelia York Perryman. She was a member of Huntersville Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Huntersville Women's Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Logan Wagstaff.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" W. McKee and Cherry W. Kerr, both of Shelby; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Kerr, Lauren Kerr, Steve McKee and Kimberly Henson; four great-grandchildren, Ashlee Drake, Mariah McKee, Marcus McKee and Austin McKee; one niece, Nell Vowell; and two nephews, Emory Perryman and Edward Coggins.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Huntersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. J.E. Wayland Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Raymer Funeral Home in Huntersville is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Griffin
FOREST CITY - Mr. Walter Lee Griffin, 60, of 2137 Island Ford Road, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at his home.
The memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Broad River Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Thompson officiating.
Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen is in charge of arrangements.

Harry Bines
SHELBY - Mr. Harry Lee Bines, 81, 704 S. Morgan St., died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Bishopville, S.C., and a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Maw Scott.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Junior and Patricia Bines and James and Louella Bines, all of Philadelphia; five daughters, Teressa Hopper, Jeanette Weldon, Willie Pearl Ingram, Jessie Stroud and Betty Bines, all of Philadelphia; two sisters, Annie Willie Bines and Margerie Addison, both of Shelby; his common law wife, Vernie Mae Gill of Shelby; and other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at noon at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gene Pryor officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Alice Ledbetter
SHELBY - Mrs. Alice B. Ledbetter, 80, of 1358 Maple Springs Church Road, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at her home.
Born Oct. 7, 1920, in York County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Robert Samuel Burns and Rachel Linda Bolin Burns. She was a self-employed quilter. She was a faithful member of Flint Hill Baptist Church, where she was a nursery worker for 25 years and a member of the Mothers Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Ollen Ledbetter; two brothers, Ed Burns and Ben Burns; and two grandsons, Wesley Ledbetter and Kuritz Blanton.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mildred Ledbetter and Dan and Helen Ledbetter of Shelby, and Herman and Faye Ledbetter of Spartanburg, S.C.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Waynett and Irvin Scruggs and Judy and Jerry Dover of Shelby and Christie Blanton of Boiling Springs, S.C.; three brothers, R.S. Burns Jr. of Pacolet Mills, S.C., Cliff Burns of Spartanburg and Dean Burns of Illinois; a sister, Frances McGaha of Pacolet, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Erie Bryant and Myrtle Ledbetter of Shelby; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
The funeral will be today at 7 p.m. at Flint Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Dixon and Ed Sessom officiating.
The body will be placed in the church at 5 p.m. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at Flint Hill Family Life Center and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church, 2207 Flint Hill Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152, to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lauren Ziglar
GREENSBORO -Lauren Grace Ziglar, 17 months, of #5 Wimbledon Lane, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Greensboro, she was the daughter of Rod and S. Kaye Barrow Ziglar of the home.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Garrett Ziglar of the home; two grandmothers, Martha L. Barrow of Shelby and Vernicia Hairston of Eden; and great-grandparents, Alphonso and Lena Hampton of Eden.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Ziglar, and a grandfather, Harold G. Barrow Jr.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. James Presbyterian Church, USA, 820 Ross Ave., Greensboro.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour and a half before the service and at other times at both the home and that of a grandmother, Martha L. Barrow, 1638 Eaves Road, Shelby.

T.G. 'Blue' Durham
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Dr. T.G. "Blue" Durham, 68, of 358 Edgemont Drive, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Claremont, he was the son of the late W.K. and Lorena Cloninger Durham. He was former co-owner of Kings Mountain Family Practice. He began his practice in Kings Mountain in January of 1960 and practiced at Kings Mountain Medical Center. He was a member of the American Medical Association, N.C. Medical Society and Cleveland County Medical Society and was former chief of staff at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was a former member of the N.C. National Guard where he served as captain of the medical unit. He was a former member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association. He graduated from Furman University and the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain.
He is survived by his wife, Casey Durham of the home; one son and one daughter-in-law, Garrison Casey and Julie Durham of Atlanta; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Julia Grace Durham, Sarah Durham "Sallee" and Dr. Lewis Roberson and Martha Casey "Pat" and Dan Potter, all of Kings Mountain; one brother, Dixon Durham of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Julia Durham Miller of Columbia and Martha Pike of Savannah, Ga.; and seven grandchildren, Meghan Casey Potter, Lesley Lorena Potter, Susan Julia Potter, C.J. Cooke, Katie Cooke, Casey Renee Durham and Thomas Garrison Durham II.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harrison Hinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.

Sarah Hamrick
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Sarah Bleeka Hamrick, 89, of 191 South Glen St., died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral is today at 3 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home Chapel in Cliffside with Dr. Wayne Blackwood officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service.

Bernard E. Dover
CHINA GROVE - Mr. Bernard E. Dover, 50, of 109 North Main St., died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Hospice at Wendover of Cleveland County.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Thompson Brothers Funeral Home of Forest City.

Marshall Goode
BOSTIC - Mr. Marshall Lee Goode, 50, of 908 DePriest Road, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Carrie Tessner
SHELBY - Mrs. Carrie Mae Norville Tessner, 75, of 115 Springbrook Drive, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Crawford and Lillie Wishon Norville. She was formerly employed by Hudson's Department Store and was currently employed by Victoria-Stephen. A lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, she was a member of its Happy Hearts Senior Citizens group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Tessner; a sister, Mary Lawter; and four brothers, Paul Norville, George Norville, Donald Norville and Crawford Norville.
She is survived by one daughter and one son-in-law, Shirley Frances and Eugene Passmore; seven brothers, Ray Norville, Ben Norville, Roby Norville, Bill Norville, Silas Norville, James Norville and Ronnie Norville, all of Morganton; three sisters, Addie Bee Yelton, Shirley Freeman and Joanne Cook, all of Morganton; three grandchildren, Lora Walker, Gena Carpenter and Theresa Gibbs; six great-grandchildren, Clint Carpenter, Skky Carpenter, Dawn Carpenter, Noell Gibbs, Sarah Gibbs and Andrew Walker; and special friends, Susie and Gary Strickland and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hardin and family, J.V. and Eunice Martin and Frank and Judy Ray.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan Wallace and Eugene Passmore officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.

Helen Black
WACO - Mrs. Helen Ware Black, 78, of 2212 Stony Point Road, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at University Hospital in Charlotte.
A native of Martinsville, Va., she was the daughter of Mrs. Cordia Martin Elmore of Crouse and the late Frank Elmore. She retired after 25 years as a self-employed cosmetologist and beautician. She was a longtime member of Victory Life Assembly of God in Cherryville.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Black Jr., on Dec. 31, 1990.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son and one daughter-in-law, Ken and Frances Black of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Mrs. Dianne B. Broome of Denver; one sister, Mrs. Letha E. Hoover of Crouse; one brother, Trig Elmore of Lincolnton; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Viola B. Hamilton of Cherryville; four grandchildren, Ken Black Jr. of Hickory, Ricky Black of Bostic and Sonji Broome and Edie Broome, both of Denver; four great-grandchildren, Cody Black of Denver; Dokota Black of Cooksville, Tenn., Taylor Black and Jordon Black, both of Hickory; eight nieces and two nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Victory Life Assembly of God in Cherryville with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30.

FOREST CITY - Ms. Sarah K. "Katie" Miller, 71, of 370 Hardin Road, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at New Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Leroy Staley officiating. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the service. Burial will follow in New Bethel Independent Cemetery.

Vernon Hines
FOREST CITY - Mr. Vernon Hines, 83, of 188 North State Road, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Magnolia Health Care in Asheville.
A memorial service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Crowe's Funeral Chapel.

Ione Martin
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Ione Martin of 157 Holly Ridge Road died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her home.
A celebration of life service will be held graveside Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mount Paran Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Darrell Revels officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 7 at White Columns Funeral Service.

James Leak Sr.
BESSEMER CITY - Mr. James Edward "Boogie" Leak Sr., 57, of 808 West Georgia Ave., died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jack and Thelma Love Leak. He was retired from Wix Filter Co. after 12 years. He was a member of Westside Praise and Worship Center in Shelby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Leak Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ross Leak; a son, James Leak Jr. of Bessemer City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Robert Valentine of Bessemer City and Jeanette Leak of Gastonia; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Homer and Doris Leak of Shelby and Alberta Leak of Spartanburg, S.C.; one sister and a brother-in-law, Doristheen and Edward Porter of Gastonia; three grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Westside Praise and Worship Center with the Rev. Donagrant McCluney officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Arrie McCoy
HIGH POINT - Mrs. Arrie Bell McCluney McCoy, of 7541 Sunnyvale Drive, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Amanda Wade McCluney. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Earl and later a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point. In her later years she attended the St. Stephens Adult Day Care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill McCoy; five brothers, Gary, Claude, Andrew, Curtis and Will; and two sisters, Inez and Rosetta.
She is survived by one daughter and a son-in-law, Rosa Lee and Leroy Tate of the home; one niece raised as a daughter, Thelma Smith of Washington D.C.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Joy and Mary Tate, Henrietta and Tommy Briley, Sylvia Woke, Karen Tate and Lenette and Troy Burris; six great-grandchildren, Dederrick Bennett, Talita Briley, Tommy Briley Jr., Michael Tate, Cecilia Woke, Larry Burris; two sisters, Elvira Smith and Mattie Lee Smith; and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Earl. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point, on Wednesday for 30 minutes at the church and at other times at the home.

LAWNDALE - Mrs. Angela Marie Byers Rackley, 24, of 709-18 East Double Shoals Road, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Cleveland Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Lawson officiating.
Pallbearers are Mike Deyton, Dean Shifler, Dewayne Byers, Ricky Friday, Gene Hill, Gary Gaut and Chris McCluney.
The family will receive friends today after 3 p.m. at the home of her mother, Debra Black, 305 Draytonville Road, Gaffney.

SHELBY - Ms. Hattie Elaine Wilson, 69, of 401 Highland Ave., died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at her residence.

RUTHERFORDTON - Mr. Orben Willis Hutchins, 76, of 2300 Maple Creek Road, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at his residence.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Polk County with the Revs. Derell Pruette, Hubert Street and Clyde Rollins officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Piedmont Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Crowe's Mortuary in Rutherfordton, and at other times at the home of Elizabeth Johnson, Griswold Branch Road, Rutherfordton.
