Annie Moore
SHELBY - Mrs. Annie Bell Moore, 87, of 700 S. Morgan St., died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Sarah Jane Sellers McSwain. She was retired from Shelby Mill. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was president of the Joy Group, a choir member, Sunday school teacher, member of W.M.U. and volunteer mission worker at nursing facilities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Thurman Moore.
She is survived by a son, Larry "Bud" Moore of Shelby; two daughters, Maxine Morehead of Greer, S.C., and Jane Ingle of Shelby; two grandchildren and their spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Grantland of Huntsville, Ala., and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Morehead of Taylors, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Brittney Morehead and Adam Morehead.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with Drs. Jerry R. Lail Sr. and Reginald Dawkins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 1114 S. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28152

Grace Barnett
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Mrs. Grace Rogers Barnett, 69, of Fort Walton Beach, died Friday, March 23, 2001.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born Sept. 14, 1931. She was a member of Fort Walton Beach Baptist Church and a former registered nurse with Civil Service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Lowell Barnett.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ernie Jr. and Nancy Barnett of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Steve Kriech of Destin, Fla.; two brothers, Welford Rogers and Ernest Rogers, both of Rutherfordton; a sister, Dorothy Crawford of Rutherfordton; six grandchildren, Kaley Barnett, Eric Barnett, Jeremy Kriech, Kyle Kriech, Joey Kriech and Kerri Kriech; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Betty and Grady Walker of Shelby.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 pm at the Little Chapel Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach with Dr. Howard Gates officiating. Burial will be in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4 Jackson St. NE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., 32548.

Jim Wells
LAWNDALE - Mr. James "Jim" Oliver Wells, 54, of 803 Sugar Hill Road, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born Nov. 6, 1946, a son of the late James Woodrow and Mary Miller Wells. He was employed as a meat cutter by Western Steer Steakhouse. He was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Britain Wells; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Brianna Thrift of Raleigh; and a sister, Rachal Roberts of Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston, with the Revs. Wade Boone and Dale Angel officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Lucille Helms
GASTONIA - Mrs. Lucille Bentley Helms, 70, of 2780 X-Ray Drive, died Thursday March 22, 2001, at Century Care.
A native of Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Noah and Russia Hartley Bentley. She was retired from Kmart food services and a 35-year member of Carson Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Dewey Helms; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Agatha and Jim Postelle of Robinsville and Joyce and Bill McGinnis of Gastonia; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph Helms of Bladenboro, Bill and Judy Helms of Gastonia and Jerry and Kim Helms of York, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Kirk officiating and Ray Workman assisting. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Billy Helms, David Helms, Robbie Helms, Michael McGinnis, Chris McGinnis and David Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Postelle, Bill McGinnis and Eddie Moore.
The family received friends Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Gaston County Cancer Society, 220 E. Franklin St., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Andrew Ramseur
SHELBY - Mr. Andrew Ramseur, 79, of 3019 Yates Road, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late William Arthur and Bertha Lou Hull Ramseur. He was an Army veteran during World War II and was stationed in New Guinea. He was retired from PPG industries after 35 years and a retired farmer. He was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the Layman League and helped with church maintenance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Andrew Ramseur Sr.; four brothers, Hal Ramseur, James Ramseur, William Arthur Ramseur Jr. and Paul Ramseur Sr.; and three sisters, Margaret Ramseur, Connie Mae Ramseur and Mary Sue Ramseur.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Wilson Ramseur of the home; two sons, Christopher A. Ramseur of the home and Harold L. Ramseur of Shelby; five daughters, Barbara R. Releford of Fort Washington, Md., Dorothy R. Logan of Shelby, Martha R. McLeod of Kings Mountain, Janet R. Stroud of Mooresboro and Sylvia R. Wray of Apopka, Fla.; one brother, Cal Ramseur of Shelby; two sisters, Lucille Hutley of Shelby and Nevada R. Camp of Shelby; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Ramseur Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Ramseur and J. Q. Camp officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Enloe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Biggerstaff
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Mr. Clarence Dwight "Biggy" Biggerstaff, 81, of 3207 Bristol Highway, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Ellenboro, he was a son of the late John Robert and Iva Hardin Biggerstaff. He was a Navy veteran and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was retired from the Navy and the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a member of Fairhaven Methodist Church and a former member of Austin Springs United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of Brazelton Masonic Lodge in Dandridge, Tenn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Jolley Biggerstaff; a daughter, Janice Tallent; a brother, Nollie Biggerstaff; and a sister, Hazel Jolley.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Harvey Byerly of Johnson City and Joyce and Stanley Rawles of Jonesborough, Tenn.; a sister, Edythe Biggerstaff of Ellenboro; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 6 p.m. at the Morris-Baker North Chapel with the Rev. Michael Sluder officiating. Burial and graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Washington County Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Rawles, Bobby Browning, Kevin Tallent, Troy Walker and Michael Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas Byerley and Mr. Biggerstaff's friends at Colonial Hills Retirement Center.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Myrtle Morrow
SHELBY - Mrs. Myrtle Lee Bell Morrow, 85, of 213 Cameron St., died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the later Jacob and Jenny Street Bell, a homemaker and a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Morrow; a son, Johnny Lee Morrow; four sisters, Aileen Poston, Margaret Humphries, Alma Anthony and Mary Ware; and two brothers, Fred Bell and Dan Bell.
She is survived by six sons and three daughters-in-law, Archie and Carol Morrow, David Morrow, Glenn Morrow and Dennis and Lynda Morrow, all of Shelby, Frank and Linda Morrow of Kings Mountain and Stanley Morrow of Newport News, Va.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Louisa and Floyd Robinson, Bonnie and Gary Pearson and Sarah and J.P Jones, all of Shelby, and Virginia Morrison and Kathy and Rick Elgin, all of Kings Mountain; two brothers, O.P. Bell and Jack Bell, both of Shelby; one sister, Helen Biell of California; 28 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Flint Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Dixon and Ed Sessom officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Sarah Chapman
CASAR - Mrs. Sarah Luckadoo Chapman, 68, of 144 Buck Chapman Road, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 6, 1932, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Mae Belle Powell Luckadoo and the late John Grady Luckadoo. She retired from Fasco Industries and also worked for Shadowline Industries. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Eugene Chapman; and two brothers, Andrew Luckadoo and Monroe Luckadoo.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James T. and Jamie Willis of Lawndale; three stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, Michael and Gail Chapman and Ray Chapman, all of Casar, and Tommy and Betsy Chapman of Belton, S.C.; three brothers, Eugene Luckadoo of Lawndale, Steven Luckadoo and Myron Luckadoo, both of Casar; three sisters, Stella Gettys and Juanita Fredell, both of Polkville, and Emily McKinney of Lincoln, Ga.; one grandson, Brandon Willis; one granddaughter, Gena Willis; five stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Canaan Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Bailey and Van Proffitt officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of James and Jamie Willis, 1932 Carpenter-Hoyle Road in Lawndale.

Lucy Freeman
BOSTIC - Miss Lucy Jane Freeman, 92, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sandy Level Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Washburn and Dorsey Funeral Home.

Lola Hardin
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Lola Mae Hardin, 91, of 352 Harmon St., died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Willow Ridge Nursing Center in Rutherfordton.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Glenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Ivey officiating. Burial will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at The Padgett and King Mortuary, and at other times at the home of her son, Charles L. Hardin, Piney Ridge Road in Forest City.

Violet Louise Hinson
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Violet Louise Hinson, 81, of White Oak Manor, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at White Oak Manor.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with Dr. Paul Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Harris Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of the daughter, 105 Tracy St. in Kings Mountain.

Dennis Ivey
GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mr. Dennis Lee Ivey, 48, of 2246 Boiling Springs Highway, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Marchel Bailey
CLIFFSIDE - Mr. Marchel C. Bailey, 67, of 2044 Ferry Road, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Void C. and Eva Dobbins Bailey. He was an Army veteran and a retired assistant plant manager with Cone Mills. He was a member of the board of directors and treasurer of Cliffside Cemetery and was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Allen Bailey of the home; one daughter, Sondra Radford of Salisbury; two grandsons, Anthony Radford and Brandon Radford, both of Boone; one brother, Willard Bailey of Forest City; and two sisters, Eloise Kanipe and Jerene Landreth, both of Cliffside.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Morris Byers officiating. Burial will be at the Cliffside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6 to 9 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home.

Robert 'Red' Kale
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Robert "Red" Kale, 75, of 415 El Bethel Road, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Roy V. and Lillie Anthony Kale. He was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Fifth Fighter Command of the Army Air Corps in the Philippines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred Kale, Tom Kale and J.B. Kale.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Blalock Kale of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roy and Joyce Kale and Jim Kale, all of Kings Mountain; one adopted son, Tom Gray of Kings Mountain; one daughter and one son-in-law, Pam and Don Jenkins of Kings Mountain; five grandchildren, Ra-Gon Kale, Clint Kale, Tripp Jenkins, Alec Jenkins and Kathy Jenkins; two great-grandchildren, Troy Jenkins and Hunter Brooke Jenkins.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at El Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Hobson officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harris Funeral Home.
