GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Mr. Namon Sailers, 51, of Easterly Lane, formerly of Shelby, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
A native of Shelby, he was a Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by wife, Josephine Sailers; one son, Allen Cole Sailers of the home; four brothers, Edward Grady Sailers and Ronnie Newell Sailers, both of Shelby, Raymond Sailers of Mayo, S.C., and Donald Dwight Sailers of Blacksburg, S.C.; four sisters, Lois Purdue of Vale, Geraldine Shelton of Shelton and Nancy Morrison and the Rev. Hazel Van Dyke, both of Lincolnton; three stepchildren, Lloyd Arwood Jr., Tony Arwood and Jennifer Arwood, all of Greeneville, Tenn.; seven stepgrandchildren, Crystal Arwood, Tony Arwood, Timmy Arwood, Nikie Arwood, Johnathan Arwood, Amanda Arwood and Jasmine Arwood; and special friends, Bill and Sue Barrett and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Sealey, all of Greeneville and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kiser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Poenitz officiating. Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. It is requested that friends and family meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Monday for the committal service.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Billy Martin
SHELBY - Mr. William Dean Martin, 32, of 57 Heritage Lane, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Oakland County, Mich., he was the son of Edward W. Jr. and Patricia R. Martin. He was a member of Christ Covenant Church and was a 1986 graduate of Shelby High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Edward Wayne Martin of Shelby; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Pamela and Christopher Thoresen and Bonnie and Michael Thigpen, all of Cincinnati; one nephew, Logan Thoresen; five nieces, Krystal Martin, Tess Thoresen, Haley Thoresen, Abigail Thigpen and Hannah Thigpen; and dear and faithful friend, Faye Lovelace.
A memorial service will be today at 3 p.m. at Christ Covenant Church with Pastor Doug Murphy officiating.
The family will received friends Friday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to Billy Martin Scholarship Fund, c/o Shelby High School, Shelby, NC 28152.

BOSTIC - Mrs. Hattie Mae Fowler Pilgrim, 85, of 149 Fairhaven Drive, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Fair Haven Home.
The funeral will be Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of Crowe's Funeral Home, Rutherfordton, with the Revs. Larry Holland, Billy Vaughn and Boyce Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Barbara Helms Bumgarner, 64, of 2032 Lincolnton Highway, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Chriscoe officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Letha Bell Stewart, 85, of 160 Stewart Road, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dixon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Allan Sinclair officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.

Raymond Blanton
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Raymond F. Blanton, 79, of 642 Oak Grove Road, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lizzie Lovelace Blanton. He was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, where he was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was the retired owner of Raymond Builders and retired from the Kings Mountain Post Office as a rural mail carrier.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde Blanton, Frank Blanton, Buron Blanton and James Blanton; and one sister, Vernie Mae Blanton.
He is survived by his wife, Ina Mae Blanton of Kings Mountain; four sons and three daughters - in - law, Norman and Annie Blanton, Jerry and Libby Blanton, Wayne and Kathryn Blanton and Ronnie Blanton and his fiancé, Kim Hoyle, all of Kings Mountain; four daughters and three sons - in - law, Judy and Carl Davis, Ina Blanton and Nina and James Messer, all of Kings Mountain, and Brenda and the Rev. Steve Swagger of Spring Lake; four brothers, L.D. Blanton of Bostic, Ranny Blanton of Boiling Springs and Wesley Blanton and Sidney Blanton, both of Kings Mountain; 12 grandchildren, Sharon and her husband, J., Nivens, of Grover, Dennis Davis and Jeff Swagger, both of Lincolnton, Donald Davis and his wife, Kim, Adam Blanton, Matthew Blanton, Heather Blanton, Megan Blanton and Ina Marie Messer, all of Kings Mountain, Joe Swagger of Springs Lake, Chris Blanton of Elkin and Molly Blanton of Chapel Hill; and one great - grandchild, Jordan LeighAnn Davis of Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Ron Caulder and James Holder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

GASTONIA - Mrs. Lucille Bentley Helms, 70, of 2780 X - ray Drive, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Century Care.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Noah and Russia Hartley Bentley. She was retired from Kmart food services and was a 35 - year member of Carson Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons - in - law, Agatha and Jim Postelle of Robinsville and Joyce and Bill McGinnis of Gastonia; three sons and two daughters - in - law, Joseph Helms of Bladenboro, Bill and Judy Helms of Gastonia and Jerry and Kim Helms of York, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and six great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Kirk officiating and Ray Workman assisting. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Billy Helms, David Helms, Robbie Helms, Michael McGinnis, Chris McGinnis and David Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Postelle, Bill McGinnis and Eddie Moore.

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Walker, 80, of 3910 Highway 50, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at her home.
A native of Chester, S.C., she was born May 2, 1920, the daughter of the late Alonzo White and Macie Harris Duncan. She retired from textiles. She attended Second Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Walker; three sisters, Stacy Scruggs, Gaynell Hicks and Melda Lynn; and one brother, William Duncan.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Stocks of Little River, S.C.; two grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, Shelby, with the Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will be in the Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home and at other times at 704 Norwood St. in Shelby.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church Roof Fund, 1114 S. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28150.

Louise Beamon
GREENSBORO - Mrs. Louise Lattimore Beaman of 6100 Friendly Ave., died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Friends Home West.
A native of Shelby, she was the daughter of the late John Daniel and Vertie Mooney Lattimore. She attended Appalachian State Teachers College, where she was certified in elementary education. She taught at Alexander Wilson, Graham; Wadesville Elementary, Wadesville; Prospect School, Monroe; and Valdese Elementary, Valdese. She and her husband served the United Methodist Church in the following towns: Monroe, Matthews, Valdese, Forest City, Greensboro, Thomasville, Hickory and Lexington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Charles G. Beaman; four sisters, Mrs. William (Lula) Elliott, Mrs. Hugh (Macie) Covington, Mrs. Paul (Nancy) Gibbs and Mrs. Joe (Rhea) Leatherman; a twin brother, John D. Lattimore; and another brother, Frank Lattimore.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Morris Turner (Carole) Jeffreys of Greensboro and Mrs. Howard Rutter (Barbara) Higgs of Burlington; three grandchildren, Morris T. Jeffreys Jr. and Charles "Chuck" Sidney Jeffreys, both of Greensboro, and Kelly Elizabeth Higgs of Burlington; one great - granddaughter, Katelyn Lorraine Jeffreys of Greensboro; and one sister, Mrs. Roy (Blanche) Carpenter of Greensboro.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Burial will be in Westminister Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6 to 8 at Hanes - Lineberry Funeral Home on North Elm Street.

Fannie Littlejohn
SHELBY - Mrs. Fannie Smith Littlejohn, 92, of 1740 New Prospect Church Road, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Cleveland County.
Born April 18, 1908, in Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Jim and Kensey Guyton Smith. She was an employee of Depriest Cleaners, a homemaker and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was also a member of Love Chapter No. 9 Hopewell Lodge and a former member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Gaffney, S.C.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Littlejohn; three sons, Ben Littlejohn, Billy Littlejohn and Rayford Littlejohn; seven brothers, Bouce Smith, Nathaniel Smith, Samuel Smith, Harry Smith, Wilson Smith, James Kapoke Smith and Alonzo King; and three sisters, Maggie Brown, Jossie Ross and Irrie Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Zebedee Littlejohn of Gaffney and Kenneth Littlejohn of Shelby; six daughters and one son - in - law, Lillie Mae Woods and Eunice Smith, both of Gaffney, Rose Lee Jeffries, Thelma Allison, Elizabeth and Leonard Borders and Bessie Littlejohn. all of Shelby; two daughters - in - law, Annie Mae Littlejohn and Louise Littlejohn; five sisters - in - law, Leatha Holland, Hattie Mae Smith, Mammie Smith, Dora Smith and Roaslee Smith; 105 grandchildren; many great - grandchildren; special friends, Bobby and Rene Marble; and a godson, Mansfield Porter.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence Roseboro officiating. Burial will be in Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family received friends Friday at Hopewell Baptist Church.

Thelma Ross
SHELBY - Mrs. Alice Thelma Howell Ross, 87, of 1822 Stony Point Road, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born Nov. 9, 1923, daughter of the late Timothy R. and Maggie Borders Howell. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church, where she served as former president of the Mass Choir and the Delta Patterson Missionary Group , was a former Sunday school teacher, a member of the usher board and a member of the Gospel Ensemble. She graduated from Washington School. She and her husband owned and operated the Will Jackson Ross Home for the Aged for 33 years. They farmed and sold produce to Cleveland County residents.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her son, Will Jackson Ross II.
She is survived by her husband, Will Jackson Ross; a son and a daughter - in - law, Maverick A. and Rebal Ross; six daughters and five son - in - laws, Libby J. and James Foster, Maggie Dalephyllis and Garry I. Stevenson, Antwynette R. and Henry Littlejohn, Alice Cosetta Ross, Veronica R. and Joseph Greene and Wendy R. and Willie Porter; 21 grandchildren and spouses, Carolyn and Anthony Hill, Barry Ross, David Ross, Will J. Ross III, Libratta and Rodney Twitty, Yolanda and Orlando McDougald, LaRubia Thompson, Brannigan and Angie Thompson, Ryan Thompson, April and Mark McInnis, Erica and Robert McDonnell, Gary Stevenson II, Franklin Littlejohn, Porche Littlejohn, Matthew "Ted" Campbell, Talma Campbell, Adero Greene, Kaddra Greene, Casio Ross, Andora Ross and Blake Ross Porter; a daughter - in - law Gwendalyn Ross Cole; 11 great - grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters - in - law, William Brodus and Lillian Howell, Alpheus B. and Helen Howell and Max D. and Martha Howell; a sister and brother - in - law, Winnie Howell and Glenn Keaton; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Washington Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. D. Byers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Genesis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lurine Hector
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Mrs. Lurine Wray Hector, 78, of 31 Dietz St., died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Hempstead Medical Center.
She was born in Cleveland County on Aug. 21, 1923, to the late Wille and Mary Wray.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband, Alfonzo Hector; and a son, Herbert Hector.
She is survived by three daughters and a son - in - law, Vernie Hector of Hempstead, Arnetta and Cookie Williams of Shelby and Barbara Neely of Charlotte; a son, Donald Hector of Davisville, Ga.; five sisters, Gladyce Wray of Hempstead, Ruth Hardy of Cincinatti and Willie Mae Wray, Betty Merritt and Hazel Brooks, all of Shelby; a brother, Floyd Wray of Shelby; six grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; and a many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Lawndale First Baptist Church with the Rev. R.E. Devoe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service and at other times will be at the home of Arnetta Williams at 608 Leander St., Shelby.
Genesis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Buren Hunt
CASAR - Mr. Guy Buren Hunt, 84, of Corinth Church Circle, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Britthaven of Morganton.
He was born in Cleveland County on Sept. 2, 1916, son of the late William George and Stella Short Hunt. He was a retired farmer and a member of New Home United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a daughter, Lalladge H. Rice; and a sister, Mildred Hunt.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters - in - law, Charles and Charlotte Hunt of Morganton, Lloyd and Tina Hunt and Eugene Hunt, all of Casar, and Kenneth and Dorothy Hunt of Pine Mountain; a daughter and son - in - law, Mavis and John Harvey of Morganton; two sisters, Lona Ledford of Morganton and Mary C. Ledford of Casar; 12 grand children; and five great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at New Home United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward Lee officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Stamey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ida Mae Jolley
RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Ida Mae Jolley, 92, of Restwell Retirement Home, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Crowe's Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Christian officiating. Burial will be at New Pleasant Baptist Church in Cowpens, S.C.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Brian King
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Brian Pearson King, 21, of 4305 Prescott Court, Wilming - ton, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Wilming - ton.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Billy F. and Linda Pearson King of Wilmington and a senior at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. A communications student, he worked as an intern in the distance learning center. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Billy F. King Jr. of Wilmington; grandparents, Roy and Elvia Smith Pearson and Willis and Frances Mills King, all of Kings Mountain; two aunts and two uncles, Joan and Steve Baker and B.L. "Butch" Jr. and Margaret Pearson, all of Kings Mountain; and cousins, Isaac Pearson and Jack Pearson.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain with Dr. John Sloan and the Revs. Shane Doty and Morris Jordon officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family received friends Wednesday night at Harris Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church at the corner of Fifth and Market streets in Wilmington Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Queen officiating. The family will meet with friends immediately following the service in the church parlor.
Memorials may be made to Brian Pearson King Memorial Scholarship, in care of University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Communications Department, 601 S. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28401.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Ethel U. Mitcham, 98, of White Oak Manor, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at White Oak Manor.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Gillikin officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Harris Funeral Home.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Ervin Coy Lambert, 70, of 453 McCall Drive, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Barry K. Keys officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
