'B.G.' Murphy
FOREST CITY - Mr. Bernard Gale "B.G." Murphy Jr., 62, of 207 Morningstar Lake Road, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Padgett and King Mortuary with the Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating.
A graveside service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the mortuary.

Ruth Campbell
SHELBY - Miss Ruth Evelyn Campbell, 86, of Century Care Rest Home, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late John Corean and Julie Belle Grayson Campbell. She was a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church, and she had worked as cafeteria manager at Jefferson Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rush Campbell, John Campbell and Charles Campbell, and a sister, Frances Campbell Dedmon.
She is survived by three sisters, Beatrice Campbell Lee and Margaret Campbell Hubbard, both of Lawndale, and Bessie Campbell Robinson of Slater, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Shumate and Max Burgin officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Lutz-Austell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Louise T. Ferreri
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Mrs. Louise T. Ferreri, 76, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Wilmington, N.C.
The funeral will be this morning at 10 at St. Patrick's Church in Savannah. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this morning from 8 to 9:45 at Colvin - Norton Funeral Home in Savannah.

Raymond Coffey
ASHEVILLE - Mr. Raymond Monroe Coffey, 88, of 16 Winter Woods Drive, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at his sister's home.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harrelson Funeral Home, Caroleen, with the Revs. Lee Davis, Johnny Godari and David Lee Coffey Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ricky Black
BOSTIC - Mr. Ricky Ray Black, 40, of 2391 N.C. Highway 226, formerly of Kings Mountain and Cooksville, Tenn., died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 12, 1960, in Cleveland County, he was a sales representative for Carolina Medical Supply in Grover, S.C. He was a member of Victory Life Assembly of God of Cherryville. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Robbie Jordan Black of the home; his parents, Ken and Frances Gailey Black of Kings Mountain; two sons, Dakota Black of Sparta, Tenn., and Cody Black of Denver, N.C.; one stepdaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Travis Reeves of Nebo; one stepson and his wife, Craig and Crystal Moreland of Bostic; one brother and sister - in - law, Ken and Shandra Black of Hickory; two grandchildren, Trenton Reeves of Nebo and Jalerie Moreland of Bostic; and two nieces, Taylor Black and Jordan Black, both of Hickory.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Victory Life Assembly of God with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery, Cherryville.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Carpenter's Funeral Home, Cherryville.

Ralph Bradshaw
MORGANTON - Mr. Ralph Lamar Bradshaw, 85, of Old Shelby Road, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at his home.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Revs. Pam Daniel and Paul Kercher officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and at other times, the family will be at the home of Jerry and Crystal Bradshaw, 141 Stephens Road in Morganton.

Wilson Perkins
GASTONIA - Mr. Wilson Newton Perkins, 69, of 3713 St. Regis Drive, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late A.P. Perkins and Beulah G. Brown. He was the owner of Wilson Perkins Construction Co. He was a member of Maylo United Methodist Church where he was a treasurer of the Sunday School, a member of C.E. Wilson Sunday School class and Methodist Men.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Perkins, A.P. Perkins Jr. and Coit Perkins; and one sister, Nell Rice.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Madeline Wilson Perkins of the home; one son, Keith Wilson Perkins of Gastonia; one daughter and one son - in - law, Cynthia P. and Keith Alan Peabody of Sherrills Ford; one brother and one sister - in - law, Manuel and Chris Perkins of Greensboro; four sisters, Jean Hulick of Shelby, Dorothy Gochnour of Florida, Gertie Cook of Gastonia and Connie Fox of Lowell; stepsiblings and their spouses, Lawrence and Shirley Brown, Lester and Della Brown, Luther Brown, Lester Brown, Ken Brown and Ruby Nix; and one grandson, Jonch Wilson Perkins of Gastonia.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Maylo United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Gaston Memorial Park.
The family received friends Monday at McLean Funeral Directors.
Memorials may be made to Maylo United Methodist Church, 1900 Spencer Mountain Road, Ranlo, NC 28054.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Jimmie E. Cudd, 65, of 680 Old Caroleen Road, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen.

Pauline Robbins
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Pauline 'Polly' Webster Robbins, 79, of Rosedale Drive, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Rev. Boyd Lattimore officiating. Burial will be in the Cliffside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home in Cliffside.

Edna Ross
SHELBY - Mrs. Edna McHam Ross, 82, of 510 West Graham St., died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 16, 1918, in Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Delilah Carpenter McHam. She was a member of Bringing Forth Ministries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Gladys Byrd of Greenville, S.C., Lottie Littlejohn of Spartanburg, S.C., and Lillie Norman, who also served as her pastor; four sons, Shad Ross and Franklin Ross, both of High Point, J.D. Ross of Pacolet, S.C., and Bobby Ross of Shelby; two nephews, H.J. McHam of New York and Pastor Billy McHam; 23 grandchildren and several nieces, great - great - grandchildren and other relatives.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Genesis Funeral Service & Chapel, with Evangelist Laura Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns.
There is no visitation.

Bobo Dedmond
MOORESBORO - Mr. Bobo Dedmond, 80, of Dedmond Road, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Robert Zeno and Lonie McCurry Dedmond. He was a retired barber and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Hamrick Dedmond.
He is survived by two sons and daughters - in - law, Roger Z. and Diane Dedmond of Shelby and Bobby and Donna Dedmond of Chesnee, S.C.; one daughter, Becky Pearson; a grandson whom he raised, Roger Zane Dedmond Jr.; five other grandchildren, Traci Taylor, George Pearson, Kimberly Thomas, Heather Dedmond and Nikki Dedmond; seven great - grandchildren; two great - great - grandchildren; and two special friends, Charles Crawley of Shelby and Bob Littlefield.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Revs. B.W. Leach, Harold King and Charlie Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Cliffside Cemetary.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Fannie Butler
SHELBY - Mrs. Fannie Butler, 91, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Patrick Kloever
COWPENS, S.C. - Mr. Patrick Lawson Kloever, 52, of 2635 Battleground Road, died April 18, 2001, at his home.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Manna Baptist Church in Chesnee, S.C. with the Rev. Danny Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney with full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service and at other times at the home.

Gene Hinson Sr.
ELLENBORO - Mr. Gene Kirk Hinson Sr., 57, of 129 Oak St., died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Jim Mackey and Norman Hubbard officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harrelson Funeral Home.

Shirley Henderson
SHELBY - Mrs. Shirley JoAnn Henderson, 57, of 1024 Washburn Switch Road, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was a winder in textiles.
She was preceded in death by her father E.D. Moore and a brother, Tince Moore.
She is survived by her husband, John Henderson; her mother, Rosella Fowler Moore; three brothers, James Moore, Tommy Moore and Mickey Moore; six sisters, Florence Humphries, Brenda Jones, Judy Emory, Barbara Cash, Kathy Pruitt and Helen Strange; five children, Sandy Henderson, Lisa Henderson, Christy Henderson, Donnie Henderson and Kale Henderson; and six grandchildren, Lindsey Henderson, Brittany Black, Jason Black, Jasmine Henderson and Macayla Henderson.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home with the Rev. Bo Wagner officiating. Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family received friends Thursday from 6 to 8 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.

Ruth Pruett
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Ruth Randall Pruett, 84, of Kings Mountain, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Rock Hill, S.C.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church with Dr. Ralph Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 at Harris Funeral Home.

Tina Martinez
BOSTIC - Mrs. Tina Marie Martinez, 21, of 160 Coral Drive, died Monday, April 23, 2001, in Spartanburg, S.C.
A native of Raleigh, she was a homemaker and daughter of Pansy Dayberry and the late James Fowler and stepfather Arnold Branch.
In addition to her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her husband, Ariel Martinez; three daughters Stephanie Dayberry, Kelly Martinez and Angelica Martinez; one brother, Brandon Branch of Henrietta,; and two sisters, Sandra Martinez of Shelby and Ashley Branch.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. David Mauney officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will be receive friends at the home, 115 Bradley Road in Shelby.
Lutz-Austell Funeral Home is serving the family.

Doris Williams
SHELBY - Mrs. Doris Smith Williams, of Pinkney Street, formerly of Roxboro Road, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born May 3, 1909 in Durham, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Pleasant Smith Sr. She was a writer and pianist and was a N.C. spelling champion in 1922.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Linwood Smith, James Smith and Harold Smith and one sister, Edith.
She is survived by one daughter and one son - in - law, Ann and Robert Burrus of Richmond, Va.; two sons and two daughters - in - law, H. Fred and Libby Williams of Marion, and Speed and Hilda Williams of Shelby; two brothers, W.A. Smith of Durham and H.S. Smith of Emerald Isle; nine grandchildren, Carlyle Williams, Elizabeth Williams, Dan Williams, Eugenia Williams, Chris Williams, Sheila Hinkle, David Burrus, Peter Burrus and Lewis Burrus; and 15 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Old Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Arthur Grayson officiating.
Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Clements Funeral Service is serving the family.
