BOSTIC - Mr. Arbra Foy Toney, 93, of Bostic, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999.
The funeral will be today at 6 p.m. at Mount Harmony Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday at the church after the service until 8 p.m.
Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home of Bostic is in charge of arrangements.

JoAnn Hamrick
FOREST CITY - Ms. JoAnn Tate Hamrick, 62, of 140 Green Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today after the service.
Crowe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Mrs. Amy Sue Eaker Beam, 76, of 956 N.E., 4th Ave., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union, S.C.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cone Memorial Chapel at Carpenter's Funeral Home with the Revs. J.C. Riddle and Edmond Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

Lou Ellen "Pean" Simmons
CONNELLY SPRINGS - Mrs. Lou Ellen "Pean" Canipe Simmons, 69, of Rhoney Road, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born on Nov. 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Spake Canipe. She was a member of Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship Church in Casar. She was retired from Combeau Industries of Hickory. She had also worked for Unifour Finishers in Hickory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Simmons; one brother, R.C. Canipe; and two sisters, Dolly York and Stella Pritchard.
She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Angela Simmons and Perry Dean Pruitt of Connelly Springs; one brother, Larry Wayne Canipe of Lawndale; two sisters, Zora Edith McLean and Ethel Mae Cook, both of Connelly Springs; three grandchildren, Troy Elizabeth Pruitt-Lynn and Dara Dannielle Pruitt, both of Hickory, and Ryann Renee Pruitt of Connelly Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hoyle Memorial Christian Fellowship Church with the Revs. Dick Chapman and Edith Pruitt officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Casar.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Sossoman Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 6570 Rhoney Road, Connelly Springs.

Sarah Jackson
SHELBY - Ms. Sarah Ann Lawton Jackson, 47, of 1804 New Prospect Church Road, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Dorun, Ga., she was born on June 15, 1952, the daughter of the late Henry Paul and Mary Lee Lawton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jessie James Jackson, and two sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Renee Jackson of Shelby; two sons, Marcus Le'mon Lawton and Brian O'Neal Jackson, both of Shelby; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Genesis Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. J.Q. Camp officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the home of her brother at 419 Hobbs Ave., Shelby.

James Green
SHELBY - Mr. James Charles Green, 78, of 1204 S. Morgan St., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Vencor Greensboro.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.

Ruth Davidson
SHELBY - Ms. Ruth Runyans Davidson, 87, of 2251 S. Lafayette St., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at her residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

John Martin Jr.
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. John Martin Jr., 80, of 101 Ramseur St., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of York County, S.C., he was the son of the late John A. Sr. and Effie Allison Martin. He was retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Blacksburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Geneva M. Maloney.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline Beam Martin; two daughters and their husbands, Janie and Vance Wilder of Gastonia and Joyce and Dickie Moorhead of Blacksburg; one brother, George Martin of Gastonia; and four grandsons, Travis Wilder, David Wilder, Richard Moorhead and Patrick Moorhead.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Blacksburg with the Revs. Ken Reid and James Clark Sr. officiating.
Pallbearers will be Travis Wilder, David Wilder, Richard Moorhead, Patrick Moorhead, Glenn Martin and Scott Patterson. Honorary pallbearer will be Don Wisher.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at White Columns Funeral Service and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Shirley Lawson
SHELBY - Mrs. Shirley Ann Wright Lawson, 64, of 1558 Timberlake Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born on Oct. 23, 1935, the daughter of the late Leonard Wesley and Ada Novella Wright Wright. She was retired from Hoechst Celanese where she was a textile operator. She was employed with Get & Go Quick Stop in Shelby. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Corn.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Eugene Lawson of the home; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Russell Eugene Jr. and JoAnn Lawson of Fallston, Richard Dennis Lawson of Shelby and Kenneth Wayne Lawson of Hollis; one daughter and son-in-law, Cecelia and Ted McSwain of Lawndale; one brother, Harold Wesley Wright of Shelby; one sister, Nell Ledford of Shelby; four grandsons, Travis Ryan Lawson, David Russell Lawson, Michael Ted McSwain and Elbert James McSwain; and one granddaughter, Kelly Ann Lawson.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the chapel at Stamey Funeral Home with the Revs. Russell Fitts and Max Pendleton officiating. The body will be placed in the chapel 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

SHELBY - Mrs. Geneva M. Elmore, 87, of 1176 Wyke Road, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Shelby Manor.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Genesis Funeral Home.

Lizzie Blanton
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Lizzie Watterson Blanton, 89, of 711 Oak Grove Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Wendover in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Martha Bell Lovelace. She was a retired seamstress. She was a life long member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain where she was a former choir member.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Will Watterson; one stepson, Harold Blanton; and one son-in-law, Willard Boyles.
She is survived by her husband, Wiley Blanton of Kings Mountain; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Hazel Watterson of Kings Mountain; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Eloise W. and Glenn Spigelmyer of Clinton, Conn., Melba W. Boyles of Kings Mountain and Judy W. and John Woody of Durham; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Lois Blanton of Durham and Demauth and Bea Blanton of Union, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Keith Randall, Janet Suber, Bruce Boyles, Karen Hoyt, Sandi Donnelly, John Woody III, James Woody and Robin Wilson; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Caulder officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Cleotis "Boom" Bostic
LINCOLNTON - Mr. Cleotis "Boom" Bostic, 45, of 2234 North St., died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove A.M.E. Zion Church with the Revs. Walter L. Adams and Benny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday 30 minutes before the service at the church.

R.V. Degree
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. R.V. Degree, 72, of 164 Ebenezer Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Cleveland County. He was a retired truck driver and worked for Kerns Trucking Company for 30 years. He was a member of Galilee United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Degree of Kings Mountain; two sons, Kelly Lanair of Shelby and Franklin Degree of Lawndale; four daughters, Sarah Whitworth of Shelby, Henrietta Boyce of Kingstown, Iris Lewis and Velma Degree, both of Kings Mountain; and two sisters, Nancey Sue Sloan and Josephine Degree, both of Shelby.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Galilee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Adams Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Lucy Jones
SHELBY - Mrs. Lucy E. Jones, 74, of 715 Dellinger Road, Apt. 103, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.
She was a native of Richmond, Va. She retired in 1989. She worked for University Manufacturing Company where she was a machine operator. She attended Farmville High School. She was a member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary L. Jones of Kings Mountain; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert S. and Elizabeth D. Jones of Shelby; two grandsons, Tymothy R. Jones of Kings Mountain and James C. Sargeant of Shelby; one granddaughter, Shirika D. Jones of Shelby; one uncle, Booker T. Walker of Columbia, S.C.; two cousins, James H. Walker of Woodstock, Md., and Kay Cooley of Bronx, N.Y.; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Jones of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Palmer Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Mattie McMurray
SHELBY - Mrs. Mattie Bowman Blanton McMurray, 92, of 1101 N. Morgan St., died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born on Dec. 17, 1906, the daughter of the late James Abernathy and Martha Jane Pearson Bowman. She was retired from Cleveland Mills. She attended Lawndale Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Blanton; her second husband, Roy McMurray; two sons, John Blanton and Dwight Blanton; one daughter, Martha Lou Blanton; two brothers; and seven sisters.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the chapel at Stamey Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Lattimore Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday 30 minutes before the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Theodore Jamison
MOORESBORO - Mr. Theodore Jamison, 91, of 432 Sandy Run Church Road, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at Edgewood Nursing Center of Forest City.

SHELBY - Mr. Ceburn Shull, 91, of 1232 S. Lafayette St., died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Eula Jackson
SHELBY - Mrs. Eula Willis Jackson, 57, of 607 N. Post Road, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Verdie Mae Davis Willis of Shelby and the late Glenn Thomas Willis. She worked for 18 years at Hardee's No. 2 on Grover Street as the breakfast manager. She was a member of Peach Street Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Shires.
She is survived by her husband, Farris Lee Jackson of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Michael and Patty Crotts and Scott Douglas Crotts, all of Shelby; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas and Jane Willis of Toluca and Charlie Willis of Shelby; a sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Leon Terry of Shelby; three grandchildren, Adam Crotts, Allen Crotts and Michelle Crotts; and two stepchildren, Sharon Jackson and Steven Jackson, both of Shelby.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peach Street Baptist Church with the Revs. Marcus Gold and Marvin Powell officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, N.C. 28150.

H. Clifford Couey Sr.
TRILBY, Fla. - Mr. H. Clifford Couey Sr., 88, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, in Dade City, Fla.
He was a native of Eastman, Ga. He had lived in Trilby for a number of years. He was a Navy veteran who served in World War II. He was a member of the Trilby Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by three sons, Henry C. Couey Jr. of Friday Harbor, Wash., Chester H. Couey of Gulfport, Miss., and Paul L. Couey of Shelby; one brother, Jeff H. Couey of Trilby; two sisters, Louise Rainey of Greenville, Fla., and Ellie Jane Hilliard of Jacksonville, Fla.; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
The funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trilby Methodist Church with Pastor Cliff Couey Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Trilby Cemetery.
