Billy Brady Sr.
SHELBY - Mr. Billy Max Brady Sr., 69, of Deborah Circle, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Iredell County, he was the son of the late Escar Dale and Sallie Henritze Brady. He was retired from the U.S. Treasury where he was an auditor for 25 years. He was a member of Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church in Kings Mountain where he was a former deacon and elder. He was past master of Cleveland Masonic Lodge No. 202. He was secretary for Shelby Lodge No. 744 for 22 years. He was a member of the Oasis Temple, York Rites and Piedmont Shrine Club. He was past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shelby No. 110. He was a Marine veteran who served in the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Brady, Coyle Brady, Escar Brady and Trent Brady; and two sisters, Virginia Brady and Edna Clair.
He is survived by his wife, Cerelda Yarboro Brady of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Max Jr. and Cindy Brady of Moss Lake; one daughter, Cindy Brady of Charlotte; two brothers, Frank H. Brady of Statesville and Charles L. Brady of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. James T. (Celeste) Colson of Tampa; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Brady and McKenzie Brady; and many nieces, nephews and caregivers.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church with the Rev. Doug Petersen officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Members of the Shelby Masonic Lodge No. 744 and Cleveland No. 202 will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Neil Baird Sunday School Class of Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church.
The family received friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church, Alzheimers Association, the Shelby Life Enrichment Center, Shriners Hospital or the Oxford Orphanage.

Michael Phillips
SHELBY - Mr. Michael Wayne Phillips, 40, of 2057 Kendrick Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

Don Stuart
BOSTIC - Mr. Don Stuart, 57, of 156 Ruby Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at his residence.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.

Charles Daves
BOILING SPRINGS - Mr. Charles Gold Daves, 83, of 108 Green Avenue, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Fannie Price and A.M. "Gus" Daves. He was employed by Stonecutter Mills in Spindale. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Adult 3 Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace Daves and Grady Daves.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Mozelle Greene Daves; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Ercell Daves and Ted and Rose Ann Daves, all of Boiling Springs; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 6 p.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Carroll Page officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 after the service at the church.

Paul Shaw
SHELBY - Mr. Paul F. Shaw, 71, of 411 Christopher Road, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Charles and Janie Hall Shaw. He worked for Tedder Motor Company as a delivery man. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Deward Shaw and J.B. Shaw; and four sisters, Mozelle Street, Ruth Howe, Edell Davis and Guynell Crowder.
He is survived by one brother, Allen Shaw of Winston-Salem, and one sister, Kate Crane of Shelby.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Frazier officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kate Crane, 1678 S. Lafayette St., Shelby.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, in care of the Rev. John Hunnicutt, 2007 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Shelby, N.C. 28152.

Teresa Thompson
SHELBY - Mrs. Teresa P. Thompson, 28, of 515-B Mauney Lane, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney, S.C.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born on Sept. 7, 1971, the daughter of Yates Poston Jr. of Shelby and the late Johnnie Mae Spikes Poston. She was employed with Cleveland Regional Medical Center for nine years as a pharmacy technician. She was a 1989 graduate of Shelby High School.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Danny R. Thompson Sr. of Shelby; one son, Danny R. Thompson Jr. of Shelby; and one brother, Richard L. Poston of Shelby.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. E.J. Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the church.

Johnnie Mae Poston
SHELBY - Mrs. Johnnie Mae Spikes Poston, 51, of 1420 Frederick St., died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney, S.C.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born on May 8, 1948, the daughter of William and Vertie Spikes of Shelby. She was employed with Cleveland Regional Medical Center for 14 years in patient registration. She was a 1967 graduate of Cleveland High School and a 1970 graduate of Cleveland Community College, where she earned her certified nursing assistant diploma. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Yates Poston Jr. of Shelby; one son, Richard L. Poston of Shelby; one grandson, Danny R. Thompson Jr. of Shelby; one sister, Ree Peeler of Cherryville; and one son-in-law, Danny R. Thompson Sr. of Shelby.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the church.

Bertie Adams
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Bertie M. Adams, 81, of 226 Branchwood Circle, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at New Way Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Clyde Mauney
SHELBY - Mr. Clyde Setzer Mauney, 77, of 292 Clinton St., died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The family will be at the residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

Luther McClain
GASTONIA - Mr. Luther John McClain, 88, of 916 S. Marrietta St., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Adams Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 30 minutes before the service at the funeral home.

Andy Hudson
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Mr. Andy Hudson, 62, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in a Hot Springs hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, he was born on July 28, 1937, the son of Eva Lee Hudson and the late William Horace Hudson. He was a Methodist. He was the owner of Hudson's Photography Studio in Hot Springs for 30 years, where he worked with his family. He was the "Official Miss Arkansas Photographer" since the mid-70s. He won many awards in photography. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 403 and F.&A.M., and he enjoyed antique cars.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Hudson and Russell Howard Hudson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Hudson; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lara Hudson; one daughter and son-in-law, Freida and Harry Rimmer, all of Hot Springs; one brother, Horace Lee Hudson of North Carolina; one sister, Thelma Langford of North Carolina; and five grandchildren, Robert Rimmer, Ryan Rimmer, Jon Rimmer, Chris Rimmer and Michael Rimmer.
The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with the Rev. James Craver officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Kelloms, Bob Wheeler, E.W. Ramage, George Foshee, Don Cain and David Alpe. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Pittman; Paul Nations; Howard Ray Johnson; Les Green; "The Coffee Shop Boys;" the staffs of NPMC Med I, Med II, and ICU Units; Drs. John Simpson, Martin Koehn, Tim English, Bill Cole, Timothy Webb, Robert Johnson, Jerry Barnes, Kim Agee, Don Brady and B.V. Pai; and NPMC Home Health.
The family received friends Monday at the funeral home.

Harold Guffey
SHELBY - Mr. Harold Eugene Guffey, 70, of 306-1 Chesterfield Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John and Daisy Barnette Guffey. He was a driver for TeeBerry Express. He was a member of the National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Clinton Guffey; and one sister, Marie Scism.
He is survived by his wife, Dot Wisher Guffey of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Kathy Guffey of Shelby and James and Tina Guffey of Boiling Springs; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Geoff Heffner and Wanda and Michael Lemmons, all of Shelby, and Rita and Marc Cheety of Fort Myers, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the chapel at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Wallace officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Clyde Mauney
SHELBY - Mr. Clyde S. Mauney, 77, of 292 Clinton St., died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jesse Guy and Myrtle Setzer Mauney. He was a retired agent of Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where he was a member of Baxter Davis Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Alan Clyde Mauney; four brothers, Fred Mauney, Lloyd Mauney, Banks Mauney and Don Mauney; and three sisters, Louise Freeman, Evelyn Spangler and Muriel Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita "Nita" Cook Mauney of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Renee Mauney of Statesville; two daughters, Janis Myers and Judy Allen, both of Shelby; and six grandchildren, Jason Myers, Matt Myers, Aaron Allen, Evan Allen, Whitney Mauney and Jeremy Martin.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Dr. Delores Queen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Rebecca Henley
TEMPLE HILLS, Md. - Mrs. Rebecca Patterson Henley, 55, of 3911 28th Avenue, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Mariner Health of Kensington, Md.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cherryville with the Revs. Harvey Lee Patterson and Roger W. Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday 30 minutes before the service at the church and other times at the home of Clara Foster Wilson, 1111 Mary's Grove Church Road, Kings Mountain.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Fred Thompson, 93, of 374 Forest St., died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at his residence.

Elizabeth Brannon
GASTONIA - Mrs. Elizabeth Morgan Brannon, 81, of the Brian Center in Gastonia, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Brannon; two daughters, Carolyn B. Wood of Lawsonville, Julia Morgan Brannon of Reidsville; and one sister, Delores M. Bridges of Black Mountain.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Delta United Methodist Church on Highway 704 East in Sandy Ridge.

Lorine Rudisill
HICKORY - Lorine Fuller Rudisill, 80, of 716 Fourth St., S.E., died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Brian Center in Viewmont.
A native of Jasper County, Ga., she was born on March 9, 1919, the daughter of the late Robert and Alberta Thurman Fuller. She was a member of Morning Star First Baptist Church and a member of the Dynamics Adult Club. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Johnson; her second husband, Wade Rudisill; one daughter, Mattie Littlejohn; four brothers, Albert Fuller, Step Fuller, Joe Lee Fuller and Ulysses Fuller; and two sisters, Carrie Mae Sawyer and Essie Kate Jackson.
She is survived by one brother, J.C. Fuller of Hickory; one granddaughter, Patricia Littlejohn of the home; five grandsons, Harold Littlejohn of Fayetteville and Robert Littlejohn, Roger Littlejohn, Paul Littlejohn and Bobby Littlejohn, all of Shelby; one great-granddaughter, Shimeka Littlejohn of the home and eight other great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, David Littlejohn of Shelby; two stepsons, Robert Rudisill of Tacoma, Wash., and Denoliaus Rudisill of Shelby; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Morning Star First Baptist Church with the Rev. Webster E. Lytle officiating. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the church.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Ann Mae Roberts Carfrey, 69, of 317 N. Dilling St., died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Penley's Chapel with Jim McCurry officiating.

Michael Phillips
SHELBY - Mr. Michael Wayne Phillips, 40, of 2057 Kendrick Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Fort Campbell, Ky., he was the son of Ruby Ballard McCombs of the home and the late Charles Edward Phillips. He was retired from Doran Mills.
He is survived by one daughter, Michelle Phillips of the home, and three brothers, William Phillips and Kenneth Phillips, both of Shelby, and Charles Phillips Jr. of the home.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Midview Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Hope officiating.
