Jim Morehead
SHELBY - Mr. James M. "Jim" Morehead, 81, of 1224 Patterson St., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Torrence Gidney and Elsie Viola Blanton Morehead. He was retired from Duke Power Co. He was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gorman Morehead, and one sister, Bertha Canipe.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Lee Dayberry Morehead of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Morehead and Jerry D. Wilson of Lawndale; one brother and sister-in-law, Julian and Vernie Morehead of Shelby; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Sue and Gene Beam of New Ellenton, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Dawn Meade and her husband, Kelly, of Shelby and Jerri Ann Wilson of Lawndale.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with the Revs. Gervase Hitch and Michael Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Lafayette Street United Methodist Church, 1420 S. Lafayette St., Shelby, N.C. 28152 or to the donor's choice.

Debra Tate
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Debra Ann Wilson Tate, 45, of 139 Sycamore St., died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Crowe's Funeral Chapel in Rutherfordton with the Revs. Roy Byers and Charles Street officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 at Crowe's Mortuary.

J.D. Teague
GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mr. James David "J.D." Teague, 66, of 234 Ross St., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at his residence.
A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with the Revs. Henry Guyton and Steve Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends today from noon to 12:45 at White Columns Funeral Service in Gaffney.

Charles Hutchins
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. Charles Paul Hutchins, 45, of 410 S. Chester St., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by White Columns Funeral Service of Blacksburg.

Lucius "Jack" Twitty
PENBROOK PINES, Fla. - Mr. Lucius A. "Jack" Twitty, 85, formerly of Union Mills, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at the Penbrook Pines Memorial Hospital in Penbrook Pines.
The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mount Pleasant C.M.E. Church in Union Mills with the Rev. Barbara Petty officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the church.
Thompson Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miles Carson
FOREST CITY - Mr. Miles Erskin Carson, 65, of 161 Cresant Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital in Rutherfordton.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Thompson Brothers Funeral Home.

Charles Hutchins
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. Charles Paul Hutchins, 45, of 410 S. Chester St., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens with the Revs. Gary Bell and Rennie Campbell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Doris McDaniel
ELLENBORO - Ms. Doris B. Jernigan McDaniel, 77, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at her residence.
A memorial service will be today at 2 p.m. at Ellenboro Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 1983 Hollis Road, Ellenboro.
Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Frances Sisk
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Frances Sisk, 61, of 150 Empire Drive, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bostic Missionary Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Kanipe officiating. Burial will follow at Walls Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the church.
McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Scott Hamrick
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Mr. Scott Hamrick, 66, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the Hospice Unit of the Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

Goldie Blackburn
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Goldie Dayberry Blackburn, 85, of 114 Wallace St., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born May 21, 1914, the daughter of the late Ed and Sara Page Dayberry. She was a retired employee of J&C Dyeing.
She was a member at Calvary Baptist Church and attended Lawndale Missionary Methodist.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Sisk and Clovie Panther.
She is survived by her husband James E. Blackburn of Lawndale and her sister, Bonnie Willis of Shelby.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Williams, Mr. Jack Waters and Mr. Fred Towery officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at Stamey Funeral Home.

Birdie England
SPINDALE - Mrs. Birdie Arizona Dalton England, 92, of Stonecutter Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Woodlands Nursing Center in Rutherfordton.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born May 7, 1907, the daughter of the late William and Mary McDaniel Dalton. She was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of Spencer Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Claude England Sr. and a daughter, Louise England Ramsey.
She is survived three sons, Dr. Bobby England of Ellenboro, Larry England of Disputanta, Va., and William "Butch" England II of Forest City; four daughters, Judith Diane England Beam and Wanda England Tate, both of Forest City, Jenell England Blanton of Shelby and Joyce England Lovelace of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Nan Dalton Robertson of Lake Lure; 18 grandchildren,; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Spencer Baptist Church in Spindale with the Revs. Billy Vaughn, Bruce Caldwell, Kelly Tobias, Malone Thomason and Jeff Springer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Forest City. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Crowe's Mortuary in Rutherfordton, and at other times at the home of Dr. Bobby England.
Memorials may be made to Woodlands Nursing Center, 237 Tryon Road, Rutherfordton, N.C. 28139, or to Rutherfordton County School Foundation, Attention: Mary Burgin, 298 Fair Ground Road, Spindale, N.C. 28160.

Mary Kate Radford
SPINDALE - Ms. Mary Kate Burgess Radford, 86, of 306 Wisconsin St., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Spindale with Dr. Don Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Spindale City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crowe's Mortuary.

Phate McSwain Sr.
SHELBY - Mr. Phate W. McSwain Sr., 87, of 131 Elizabeth Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of South Carolina, he was the son of the late Willard and Millie Taylor McSwain. He was retired from Lily Mill Co., where he was a salesman. He was a member of Second Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Matilda Lowery.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby R. McSwain of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, the Rev. Phate McSwain Jr. of Newton and Jean and Hope McSwain of Shelby; two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and Henry Greene of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Brenda Henderson of Montgomery, Ala.; one brother, Buren McSwain of Charlotte; three sisters, Hester Justus of Shelby, Ruth Whisnant and Lela Belle Washburn, both of Lattimore; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Reginald Dawkins and the Rev. Norman Brown officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Scott Hamrick
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Mr. Samuel Scott Hamrick, 66, of 1000 Park St., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the Hospice Unit of Martha Jefferson Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on March 6, 1933, the son of the late Ed and Olivia Gardner Hamrick. He was a retired educator. He attended Gardner-Webb College. He was a 1955 graduate of Appalachian University. He received advanced degrees in education from the University of Virginia. A lifelong educator, he worked 11 years in the public schools in Danville, Va. From 1966 until 1991, he worked in the Charlottesville Public Schools. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Charlottesville. He was a member and officer of Phi Delta Kappa and Kappa Delta Phi, vice president of the Virginia Association of Elementary Principals for two years. He helped develop a Volunteer Patient Advocate Program at Martha Jefferson Hospital and served as chairman of the program for three years. He was an adjunct faculty member of Virginia Commmonwealth University and Longwood College.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Keslar Hamrick and Glenn Hamrick; and one sister, Louise Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Metcalf Hamrick of Charlottesville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Ellen Hamrick of Lorton, Va., and Bill and Teri Hamrick of Earlysville, Va.; two brothers, Tom Hamrick of Cherryville and Joe Hamrick of Shelby; three sisters, Velva Hamrick and Ruth Beam, both of Shelby, and Rachel Ballard of Gastonia; and three grandchildren, Blair Hamrick of Lorton, Larkin Hamrick and Sam Hamrick, both of Earlysville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Fitts and Dr. Randy Bridges officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday after the service at the church fellowship building and other times at the home of Nell Metcalf, 1906 Barbee Road, Shelby.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 735 Park St., Charlottesville, Va. 22902.

Ray Harris
MOORESBORO - Mr. Ray Harris, 44, of 243 Loyola Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at his residence.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Gother and Pat Crowe Harris. He was employed at Copeland Corp. in Shelby. He was a member of Southern States Rodeo Association. He was a member of Cliffside Masonic Lodge and Cliffside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Wilson Harris of the home; and one son, Victor Ray Harris of the home.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Arthur Emory
FALLSTON - Mr. Arthur Wayne Emory, 36, of 116 Stamey Road, P.O. Box 705, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on July 14, 1963, the son of Dock Ernest Emory and Elizabeth Turner, both of Shelby. He was employed with Reynolds Machine Shop in Bessemer City, where he was a machinist.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Ledbetter Emory of Fallston; his stepfather, Johnny Warrren of Shelby; one son, David Emory of Waco; one stepson, Bradley Willis of Waco; one stepdaughter, Amanda Hudson of Fallston; three brothers, Jack Emory of Mooresboro, Larry Emory of Waco and Johnny Emory of Grover; and four sisters, Patsy Emory and Wanda Barrett, both of Shelby, Mary Ann McCurry of Newton and Mary Ohla of Earl.
The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the chapel at Stamey Funeral Home with Fred Towery and the Rev. Charles Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Charity Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the funeral home.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Miles Carson of 211 Trout St. died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Green Creek Baptist Church in Polk County with the Rev. Rob Roy Staley officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Thompson Brothers Funeral Home.

FOREST CITY - Ms. Glenna Dimsdale Price, 78, of 413 Westwood Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mountain View Baptist Church in Mill Spring.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crowe's Funeral Home in Spindale.
