UNION MILLS - Mr. Sam Flack, 69, of 521 Coney Island Road, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Round Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Michael Johnson and Kenneth Lytle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 to 9 at Crowe's Mortuary in Rutherfordton.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Dorothy Pulliam Kretzer, 79, of 415 Phifer Road, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at her home.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Norris Willis officiating. Entombment will be at West Lawn Gardens and Memory in Clemmons.
The family will be at the home of Jimmy and Dian Dickey, 415 Phifer Road, Kings Mountain.

CHERRYVILLE - Mr. Marshall Sellers, 87, of 330 Pine Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Lincoln Nursing Center.
A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park, with the Rev. Raymond Hamrick officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Thursday night at Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Eva Whitlock
FOREST CITY -Ms. Eva Bradley Whitlock, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Padgett & King Chapel, with the Revs. Boyce Gregory and Kevin Rohm officiating. Burial will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Wednesday night at Padgett & King Mortuary.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Velma Sisk Sears, 75, of 22A Battleforest Apartments, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Countrytime Inn, Gastonia.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Mike Chambers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Elizabeth Johnson, 90, of 605 Floyd St., died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

CHERRYVILLE - Mr. Walter Foster, 58, of 206 J.C. Dellinger Road, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Roger Fuller, Larry Brooks, Nathaniel Craig and Andrew Cuthbertson officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Ms. Sally Grace Ponder Allen, 104, of 336 Minkum Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Peachtree Centre.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

ELLENBORO - Mr. Norris Edward Wright, 63, of 1088 Hollis Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 4:30 p.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Owen Duncan and J.C. Sinclair Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church.

Lois Hubbard
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Lois Brackett Hubbard, 77, of 336 Flat Rock Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at her home.
A homemaker and native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Campbell and Vicie Eaker Brackett. She was a member of Kadesh United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Hubbard; her son-in-law, Larry D. Bingham; and her brother, Johnny Lee "Bud" Brackett.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Peeler Hubbard Sr.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carrol H. Bingham of Fallston, and Vickie and Mel Beighley of Lawndale; one sister, Vinnie Waters of Casar; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Paula B. and David Peeler, and Ronda B. and Phil Peeler; two granddaughters, Iris C. Hubbard and Shannon Beighley; one grandson, Robby Hubbard; and three great-grandchildren, Katie Peeler, Adam and Ashley Peeler.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Kadesh United Methodist Church with Revs. Steve Kiser, Joe McMurry, and Eddie Ingram officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stamey Funeral Home.

Hettie Brackett
CASAR - Mrs. Hettie Mae Queen Brackett, 88, of 147 Golden Valley Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lowrance S. and Elvenie Walker Queen. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and was retired from Casar Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Landrum Brackett, a son, Billy Brackett, and a daughter, Lula Mae McNeilly.
She is survived by a daughter, Margie Price of Casar; four sons and daughters-in-law, Talmadge and Mary Brackett of Casar, the Rev. Garland and Anita Brackett of Arkadelphia, Ark., Cecil and Ruth Brackett of Lawndale, and Phillip and Mildred Brackett of Casar; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Saturday at at Casar United Methodist Church with the Revs. Richard Johnson, Cecil Buff and Terrill Crump officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stamey Funeral Home.

GROVER - Mrs. Lula Mae Huskey, 63, of 2415 Cleveland Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by Genesis Funeral Services in Shelby.

Broadus Jones
HICKORY - Mr. Broadus Hicks Jones, 77, of 1125 Tenth St. NW. Boulevard, formerly of Polkville, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stamey Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cross Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home.

Thelma Preston
LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Thelma Marie Alexander Preston, 56, of 313 Jennings Street, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Friday at 4 p.m. at Ebony & White's Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery with the Rev. Lacy Ross officiating.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of daughter Sheron Charles Little, 10 Cobb Street, Lincolnton.

HOBE SOUND, Fla. - Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Brocato Lowder, 38, of 7702 South East Mammoth Drive, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at Martin Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Sherry L. Dunevant, 1716 Arbor Way, Albemarle.

Bill Atchley
MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Dr. Bill L. Atchley, Ph.D., 68, of Wachesaw Plantation, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., he was the son of the late William C. and Mary Logsden Atchley. He was the former president of Southeast Missouri State University, former president of the University of the Pacific, Stockton, Calif., and former president of Clemson University, Clemson, S.C. He served as president of the National Science Center Foundation, dean of engineering at West Virginia University, and associate dean and professor at the University of Missouri at Rolla. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a former professional baseball player with the New York Giants.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Sams.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat Limbaugh Atchley; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Toni Atchley of Charlotte; two daughters and sons-in-law Pamela and Robert Still of Shelby and Julie and Robert Smith of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Steven Smith, Gregory Smith, Alexander Atchley and Kristin Still; and one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Linda Atchley of Sikeston, Mo.
A memorial service was held Monday at Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, with Dr. Harold Lewis officiating.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1927 Candy Lane, Surfside Beach, S.C. 29575, or to the Hollings Cancer Center, 86 Jonathan Lucas St., Charleston, S.C. 29424.

Lula Grigg
IRON STATION - Mrs. Lula Merle Whitworth Grigg, 73, of 4471 Orchard Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at the Brian Center in Lincolnton.
She was born November 21, 1926, in Lincoln County to the late Belton and Alice Crawley Whitworth. She worked in the textile industry.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Grigg Sr.
She is survived by three sons, James T. Grigg Jr. of Conover, Donald F. Grigg of Iron Station and Steve Grigg of Lucia; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Cleveland of Iron Station; one brother, Hazel Whitworth of Iron Station; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pearl Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert Wensil officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Gina Rudisill, 3261 Clarence Smith Lane, Iron Station.
Memorials may be made to Pearl Baptist Church, 4657 E. Highway 27, Iron Station, N.C. 28080.

Mildred Allen
SHELBY - Mrs. Mildred Ross Allen, 61, of 415 Piedmont Ave, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Genesis Funeral Services.

Mary Eddins
SHELBY - Mrs. Mary Lou Sparks Eddins, 83, of 424 Leander St., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Will Thomas and Dovie Ellen Lail Sparks. She was retired from J.P. Stevens and was a charter member of Westview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Rufus Sparks, Austin Sparks, John Sparks, Everette Sparks, Lamar Sparks, Ray Sparks and Thomas Sparks, and two sisters, Nobelia McGuirt and Junie Stamey.
She is survived by her husband, Paul C. Eddins of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula Ann and David L. Blanton Sr. of Kings Mountain; two grandsons and their wives, David L. Jr. and Jody Blanton of Wilmington and J. Derek and Katherine Gibbs Blanton of Tampa, Fla.; and one great granddaughter, Ashley Blanton of Charlotte.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Jim Brackett, David Blanton and Gene Daggerhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
