Beulah Jones
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Beulah Wilson Jones, 89, of 1325 Washington St., died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby.
A native of Kings Creek, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Nannie White Wilson. She was retired from Lambeth Rope Company. She was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church of Kings Mountain for 58 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Jones and her granddaughter, Pam Jones.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Sandy Jones of Kings Mountain; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Hal Falls of Gastonia, and Elanie and Harry Jackson of Kings Mountain; a brother, Jim Wilson of Salisbury; grandchildren, Gwen Hicks Winchester of Gastonia, Gayla and Derek Ware of Winston-Salem, Jonathan and Christy Jones of Ft. Worth, Texas, Edie and Mathew Bunch of Fort Irwin, Calif., Laura Beth Jackson of Grover and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Hobson officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to El Bethel United Methodist Church, 122 El Bethel Road, Kings Mountain, N.C. 28086.

Ronald Winn
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Ronald Edward Winn, 49, of Charlotte, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000.
A native of Cliffside, he was born Feb. 12, 1951, the son of the late Valorie Holt Winn. In 1973, he received a B.S. degree from North Carolina State University in textile engineering and was a senior account executive with PPG Industries. He was a golfer.
He is survived by his father, Clyde Winn; his wife, Karen Elms Winn; two children, Meghan Winn and Allison Winn, both of Charlotte; and a brother, Roger Winn of Forest City.
The funeral will be tonight at 8 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel. A private graveside service will be held Monday.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home.
The body wil be taken to Glynn Kildo Funeral Home in Cranberry Township, Pa., and funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dutilh United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Dutilh United Methodist Church, Cranberry Township, Pa.

Nell Dotson
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Nell Melton Dotson, 89, of 163 Oak Ridge Drive, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Henderson Care Center.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harmon Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Blackwell and Dr. Eddie Rape officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Crowe Funeral Home in Rutherfordton.

John Doan Jr.
BOSTIC - Mr. John Frank Doan Jr., 80, of 111 Holly Court, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital, Rutherfordton.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Crowe Funeral Home.

James 'Jim' Sills Sr.
SHELBY - Mr. James Robert "Jim" Sills Sr., 87, of 322-3 Patton Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaston County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Ocie Falls Sills. He was a retired jacquard weaving superintendent at Dover Mill Company, and also was retired from Baxter Corporation. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Dillard Sills, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Judy Sills Jr., of Burlington; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Jerry McClellan of Shelby; a granddaughter, Tami McClellan of Shelby; two grandsons, Phil McClellan Sr., of Shelby and Jeff Sills of Knoxville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Treka McClellan, Phillip McClellan and Morgan Sills; a brother, J.P. Sills of Kannapolis; and four sisters, Jeanette McCommons, Inell Sills and Ruby Brown, all of Kannapolis, and Mary Davis of Charlotte.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Phil Bailey and Ervin Price officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Jerry McClellan, 2300 Crosby Drive, Shelby.
Memorials may be made to the Dover Baptist Church, Sound System, 1501 Polkville Road, Shelby, N.C. 28150.

David Gardner
KINGS MOUNTAIN - David Gardner, 75, of 368 Mary's Grove Church Road, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Willie Walker and Lottie Mae Alexander Gardner. He was a retired machine operator at Kings Mountain Mica Company, and an employee of Mauney Hosiery Mill. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and usher board member and a member of the Masonic Star Lodge No. 5.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jasper Petty and Jimmy Petty; a brother, Willie Gardner; and a sister, Luvenia Gardner Lary.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Crockett Gardner of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, David Jr. and Valerie Gardner of Marietta, Ga., Michael and Doris Gardner of Lowell, Steve and Silvia Gardner of Gastonia, and Carl and Betrice Gardner of Charlotte; three daughters and one son-in-law, Cynthia and Donald Addison of Kings Mountain, Wanda Gardner of Gastonia, and Brenda Degree of Kings Mountain; nine sisters, Ollie Mae Feemster of Gastonia, Luella Stokes, Betty Bell, Yvonne Parker, and Flossie Johnson, all of Kings Mountain, Shirley Miller, Hazeleen Leslie, Peggy Leslie, and Shirley Leslie, all of Charlotte; three brothers, Thomas Gardner of Kings Mountain, Eddie Lee Gardner of Alexandria, Va., and Donald Leslie of Charlotte; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
J.W. Gill & Sons is in charge of arrangements.

Lander Tritt
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mr. Lander Eugene Tritt, 87, of 122 Shurley St., died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Presbyterian A.R.P. Church with Dr. R. Boyce Wilson, Dr. John A. Basie, and the Rev. Charles L. Mitchell officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home.

James Conley
WINSTON- SALEM - Mr. James Kenneth Conley, 66, formerly of Rutherford County, died Monday March 6, 2000, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Emanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Russell's Funeral Home of Winston-Salem is in charge of funeral arrangements. Thompson Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Charles White
SHELBY - Mr. Charles Vance White, 79, of 1304 Briarcliff Road, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., he was born on April 20, 1920, the son of the late Weldon G. White and Julia Ford White Abercrombie. He was a retired bus driver for mass transit in Baltimore, Md., and a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church. He served in World War II as a member of the Merchant Marines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sadie Lange; and a brother, Elbert White.
He is survived by his wife, Mozelle Early White of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy Faye and Ronald Moyer of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Evelyn Kale of Shelby; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Charles Richard and Mary Moyer of Philadelphia; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Donna and Scott Horschmann of Philadelphia; and a great-grandson, Keith Thomas Moyer of Philadelphia.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Sparks officiating.
Memorials may be made to Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 1227 Mount Sinai Church Road, Shelby, N.C. 28152.

James "J.R." Camp
MOUNT PLEASANT - Mr. James "J.R." Randolph Camp, 66, of 1211 S. Skyland Drive., died Tuesday, Mar. 7, 2000, at Northeast Medical Center in Concord.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born August 21, 1933, the son of Ollie Shields Burgess and stepfather Carl Burgess, both of Forest City and the late John N.Camp and step-mother Velle Camp. He was a retired truck driver for Pilot Freight and an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Kinsey Camp; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Debroah Camp of Shelby, Phillip and Vicki Camp and Tracy and Ginger Camp, all of Concord; one daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Scott Carroll of Albemarle; one brother and sister-in-law, John M. and Judy Camp of New London; two stepbrothers and one sister-in-law, David and Patsy Burgess and Dennis Burgess; one stepsister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Richard Lerch; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shelby with the Rev. Herman Simpson officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Gordon Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Clay-Barnette Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Linda Pace
EDNEYVILLE - Mrs. Linda Pendleton Laughter Pace, 90, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Junie Lucas Pendleton. She lived most of her life in Henderson County, and was a member and former Sunday School teacher at Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She was the owner and operator of Edneyville Packers and Apple Farm and also had her own hand weaving business.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Clanny Laughter, who died in 1977 and Raymond Pace, who died in 1993.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Vera Laughter and Jerry and LaRue Laughter, all of Edneyville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and James "Dinky" Pack and June and Bill Barnwell, all of Edneyville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with the Revs. Dean Elliott, William Willingham and Brian Melton officiating.
Burial wil be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 until 8:30 at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors in Hendersonville and at other times at the home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. the day of the service.

Ray Allen
SHELBY - Mr. Ray Landrum Allen, 92, of 905 Hawthorne Road, where he lived for 49 years, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Ida Royster Allen. He was a graduate of Shelby High School. He was part owner of Cleveland Auto Parts working from 1969 to 1995, retiring in January of 1995. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Shriners, V.F.W. and the Masonic Lodge. He was an Army veteran serving in the 902 Ordinance Heavy Automotive Company.
He is survived by his wife Mattie Brown Crowder Allen; one son and daughter-in-law, John Thomas "Tom" and Chong C. Allen of Shelby; one granddaughter, Caroline Mattie Allen of Shelby and a sister-in-law, Bertie Crowder Lee of Shelby.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Johnson and Dr. Joe Reeves officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Palmer Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St., Shelby, N.C. 28150.

Ruth Scruggs
WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Ruth Clary Scruggs, 79, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Baptist Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m.at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service.

James Ashe
LINCOLNTON - Mr. James B. Ashe, 86, of 931 N. Aspen St., died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Lincoln Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Poplar Springs A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Karen Roberts-Miller officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Ebony & White's Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Graham
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Evelyn Lucille Welch Graham, 70, of 716 Sipes St., died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Eula Mae Hamby Welch. She was a member of Cherokee Street Baptist Church and was retired from Goody-Goody Barbecue after 20 years of service. She also worked in Home Health Care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Clinton Graham and two brothers, Harold Welch and Jimmy Welch.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Eugene and Kathy Graham of Kings Mountain, and Timothy James Graham of Grover; two daughters, Kathy Graham of Kings Mountain, and Teresa Mae Ruiz of Brandon, Fla.; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles L. Welch and Junior R. Welch, both of Kings Mountain, and Billy Ray and Angeline Welch of Bessemer City; a sister, Joyce Green of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with the Revs. George Leigh and Herman Green officiating.
Pallbearers for the service will be Johnny Alley, Ricky Alley, Chad Byrd, John Byrd, Michael Carter and Kelly Welch.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Greene Funeral Service Westside Chapel.

Andrew "Roy" Newton
MORGANTON - Mr. Andrew Leroy "Roy" Newton, 81, of Murphy Court, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Grace Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Esper and Junie Hull Newton. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was retired from Broughton Hospital in 1980 after 34 years of employment.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, George Newton, Clifton Newton, Forrest Newton and John Reid Newton; and a sister, Maude Short.
He is survived by his wife, Cassie Hunt Newton of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Bobby Mikeal; two sisters, Dona Pruett and Annie Belle Fortenberry, both of Shelby; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Virgil Morrow officiating.
Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Sossoman Funeral Home and at other times at the home at 123 Murphy Court.

ELLENBORO - Mr. Arlen Ledford, 55, of 106 Dobbinsville Road, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at High Shoal Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Passmore officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Ruth Harmon Self, 81, of 911 Salem Church Road, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Ellis officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Warlick Funeral Home.

James Hoppes Sr.
FOREST CITY - Mr. James Graham Hoppes Sr., 52, of 180 Forest Lake Road, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Padgett & King Mortuary.
A private memorial service will be held for the family.
