Willie Laborn
SHELBY - Ms. Willie Mae Laborn, 83, of 407 Jacobs St., died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Macon County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Catherine Maddox Laborn.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one son, Lad Laborn.
She is survived by one son, Isaiah Laborn of the home; two sisters, Ada Bell Dandrige of Buffalo, N.Y. and Jessie Whitaker of Shelby; one daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae Laborn of Shelby; two grandsons, Larry Eugene Laborn and Marvin Laborn of Shelby; three step-grandchildren, Deborah Galmer, Beverly Smith and Benjamin Laborn; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Enloe Mortuary. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 to 2 at Enloe's Mortuary, Inc.

Geneva Gilliam
GROVER - Mrs. Geneva Jackson Gilliam, 79, of 113 Andrew Drive, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Christian Freedom Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Wells, Mike Chamber, and Joe Heffner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Blacksburg, S.C.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and at other times at the home of a daughter, Judy Walker, 318 Yarbro Road, Kings Mountain.

Billy Hoyle
UNION MILLS - Mr. Billy Fred Hoyle, 65, of 5010 Hudlow Road, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sandy Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Hensley officiating.
Burials will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crowe Funeral Home.

Ray Pendleton
SHELBY - Mr. Ray C. Pendleton, 75, of 2116 Joe's Lake Road, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Willard and Bessie Queen Pendleton. He was retired from J.P. Stevens after 37 years of service and also worked at Doran Mill and Ora Mill. He was a member of Mulls Memorial Baptist Church and D.A.V. He served in the Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene "Red" Pendleton.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Mull Pendleton of the home; a son, Phillip Bern Pendleton of Shelby; a daughter, Karen Pendleton Stidham of Shelby; a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Max and Virginia Pendleton of Belmont; a sister, Sarah Buff of Vale; two sisters-in-law, Dot Pendleton of Winston-Salem and Edna "Pete" Richards of Morganton; a grandson, Greg Stidham; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Leslie and Keith Heffner, and Melissa Cook; two great-granddaughters, Tia Heffner and Whitney Heffner; step-grandchildren, Clay Spivey and Amber Spivey; and a step-greatgrandson, Dalton Bennett.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Clay-Barnette Chapel with the Revs. Ervin Price and Max Pendleton officiating.
Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

Joe Hudson
VALE - Mr. Joe Ralph Hudson, 77, of 9413 N. Hwy 10, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at his home.
A native of Burke County, he was the son of the late Leland Jerome and Fronnie Swink Hudson. He was a retired owner and operator of Hudson's Produce in Morganton and was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Sigmon Hudson.
He is survived by a son, Steve T. Hudson of Morganton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ray Walker of Vale; a brother, Roy Lee Hudson of Morganton; a sister, Ollie Mae Caulder of Hickory; six grandchildren, Amanda Walker, Johnny Walker, Nicki Walker, Lee Walker, Cindy Hudson, and Tammy Goble; and three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Moretz, Jeremiah Hudson, and Maria Hudson.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Richards officiating.
Burial will follow at the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home and other times at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ray Walker, 9413 N. Hwy 10, Vale.

Mary Wilson
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Mary Koone Wilson, 74, of Forest City, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Autumn Care Rest Home.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Mamie Head Koone. She was retired from Cone Mills and a member of First Baptist Church in Henrietta.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Wilson.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mamie and Steve Condrey of Mayo, S.C.; three brothers, Lottice Koone and Donald Koone, both of Gilkey, and the Rev. Elbert Koone of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Hazel Johnson of Gilkey and Dorothy Keeter of Rutherfordton; and two grandchildren, Heather Condrey and Eric Norville.
The funeral will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home with the Rev. Trey Gilliam officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Rutherford County, 167 Pinkwood Drive, Rutherfordton, N.C. 28139.

"Cotton" Sarvis
DALLAS - Mr. Frank C. "Cotton" Sarvis, of 815 N. Oakland St., died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the Brian Center in Gastonia.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Dallas Funeral Home.

Jack Jolley
SHELBY - Mr. Jack Jolley, 95, of 2125 Honey Haven Farm Road, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Prier Wilkinson and Mary Elizabeth Humphries Jolley. He was self-employed as a farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Moore Jolley.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Rachel Jolley of Boiling Springs; a granddaughter, Brenda Roper of Boiling Springs; and two great-grandsons, Justin Roper and Tyler Roper, both of Boiling Springs.
The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Flint Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church and other times at the home of William Jolley at 125 Roper Drive.
Memorials may be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church, 2207 Flint Hill Church Road, Shelby, N.C. 28152.
Clay-Barnette Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Danny Auton
SHELBY - Mr. Danny Ray Auton, 27, of 713 Live Oak St., died Friday, May 12, 2000, at his home.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Ambis "Toby" Lewis
SHELBY - Mr. Ambis "Toby" Clenten Lewis, 50, of 104 Exter Lane, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at his home.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at The Peoples Baptist Church with the Rev. John Houze officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.

SHELBY - Mrs. Yvonne Cornwell Hoyle, 77, of 346 Circle Drive, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at her home.

SHELBY - Mrs. Yvonne Cornwell Hoyle, 77, of 346 Circleview Drive, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was retired principal of Township Number Three School. She was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church, former choir director, charter member of Double Jollies, former Sunday school teacher, member of Retired Teachers Association, and a volunteer with Kings Mountain Baptist Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Hoyle; parents, Clyde William and Flossie Spangler Cornwell; brothers William D. Cornwell and Fred Eugene Cornwell.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law Doug Hoyle of Shelby, Ernie and Melody Hoyle of Wilkesboro; two sisters-in-law Betty Cornwell of Columbia, S.C. and Ilease Cornwell of Charlotte; and three grandchildren, Hayley Hoyle and Megan Hoyle of Shelby, David Khodayar of Boone.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Double Shoals Baptist Church, with the Revs. Eric Davis and Russell Fitts officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

FOREST CITY - Mrs. Grace Vickers Smith, 77, of 163 Sunnyside St., died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Florence Baptist Church, with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Family headquarters will be at the home of Beverly Jones, 160 Greenwood St., Forest City.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Padgett & King Mortuary.

John Kaiser
WABASH, IND. - Mr. John R. Kaiser, 87, of 1720 N. Alber St., died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Miller's Merry Manor West.
A funeral mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Saint. Bernard Catholic Church, with Father Timothy Wrozek officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 8 at McDonald Funeral Home Eddingfield Chapel in Wabash.

Danny Auton
SHELBY - Mr. Danny Ray Auton, 27, of 713 Live Oak St., died Friday, May 12, 2000, at home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a glass winder at PPG Industries.
He is survived by his parents James Lee and Susan Powell Auton of the home; a sister and brother-in-law Teresa A. and Wayne Lawson of Shelby; a brother and sister-in-law Tim and Kathy Auton of Boiling Springs; one daughter, Amber of Chimney Rock; and a grandmother, Lula Blanton Auton Andrews of Shelby.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery, with the Revs. Wayne Lawson and Larry Hawkins officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services. Family headquarters will be at 713 Live Oak St.

William "Bill" Ledford
CHERRYVILLE - Mr. William "Bill" Dean Ledford, 67, of 229 Cedar Lake Farm Road, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a retired security supervisor for Security Forces Inc., Pinkerton Security Service, and Burns International Security.. He was a member of Plesant Ridge Baptist Church in Swainsville, served 13 years as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, and served in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Bryson and Bertha Elizabeth Waters Ledford, his first wife Eugenia White Ledford; son Mark S. Ledford, daughter Sheila J. Ledford, brother Dennis Ledford and sister Shirley Hale.
He is survived by wife Martha Jane Carpenter Ledford; son and daughter-in-law George E. and Elizabeth Ledford of Shelby; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie L. and Mike Blanton of Lawndale, Cheryl L. and Roger Dale Tallent of Shelby, Monica L. and Charles Mathis of Shelby; stepdaughter and husband Tonya and Terry Smith of Cherryville; stepdaughter Melody Haney of Durham; three brothers Bob Ledford and Tommy Ledford of Shelby, Jim Ledford of Boiling Springs, sister Elizabeth Owens of Mooresboro, special friends Sandra and Joe Hamrick of Cherryville and Glen and Annis Allen of Shelby; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Casar Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. George Williams and John Stein officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

Frank Sarvis
DALLAS - Mr. Frank C. "Cotton" Sarvis, of 815 N. Oakland St., died May 12, 2000, at Brian Center in Gastonia.
A native of Gaston County, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, member of First United Methodist Church of Dallas, and a barber for more than 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank C. and Ada Bost Sarvis.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Bridge Sarvis of the home; son Tony Sarvis of Charlotte, daughter Frankie M. Sarvis of Bessemer City; stepson Steve Cloninger of Burnsville; stepdaughter Teresa Reed of Beaufort, S.C.; sister Priscilla Dean Clemmer of Gastonia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joe Law officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive Cemetery, Bessemer City.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 5:30 at Dallas Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

William "Bill" Ledford
CHERRYVILLE - Mr. William "Bill" Dean Ledford, 67, of 229 Cedar Lake Farm Road, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
