WOLF
FRANKLIN -- The Rev. Donald Wolf, 86, of Port St. Lucie, Fla. went to be with the Lord after a brief illness in Pembroke Pines, Fla. , Oct. 1, 2000. The Rev. Wolf was born and educated in Syracuse, N.Y. He attended Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson County, N.Y. , graduating in 1938. He was the son of the late Henry R. Wolf and Blanche Moore Wolf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, L. Maude Wolf , who died July 12, 2000. He and his wife had served the Lord in churches in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina for over 50 years. The Rev. Wolf had a wide sphere of godly influence and will best be remembered as a godly husband and father, and a gracious example of Christ like love. He is survived by his four children, Cynthia Ruble and husband Don of Clemmons, the Rev. Jonathan Lee Wolf and wife Lois of Franklin, Timothy Mark Wolf and wife Netta of Winston-Salem and Lydia Shults and husband Frank of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Blanche Moulton of Cape Coral, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A celebration of the Rev. Wolf's life and faith in Christ will be 2 p.m Thursday, Oct. 5 , at Wells Grove Baptist Church. His two sons, the Rev. Jonathan Wolf and the Rev. Timothy Mark Wolf will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Macon Funeral Home , where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers will be John Timothy Wolf, Sid March, Jonathan Ruble, Don Ruble, Frank Shults and Tim Wolf Jr. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 372, Franklin, NC 28744. Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

BLANKENSHIP
HAMPTONVILLE -- Mr. J.Q. Blankenship, 72, of Statesville Road passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Iredell County to the late John Quincy and Pearl Campbell Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was owner and operator of Jay's Grill, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Prevette Blankenship, in 1995; and one stepson Sonny Gardner. Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Marusak, Christine Cunningham, and Sandra Heffinger; and grandchildren, Jill, John, Elizabeth, Seth, and Ethan. Also surviving are his second wife, Vetral Brown Gardner Blankenship of the home; stepchildren, Rubin (Peggy) Gardner, Coy (Marilyn) Gardner, Lucy (Roger) Swaim, Jerrald (Sunghee) Gardner, Nellie (Benny) Norman, and Issy (Ricky) Hinshaw; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. Monday at Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Tim Cannon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 309, Boonville, NC 27011. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the family.

FISHER
Mrs. Ethel East Fisher, 94, of Winston-Salem, died early Sunday morning, Sept. 3, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1906, in Stokes County to John Samuel and Martha Anne Boaz East. Surviving are two nieces and their husbands, Katherine and David Anderson of Winston-Salem and Florence and Marvin James of Rural Hall; one great niece; one great-nephew; and four great-great-nieces. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Keith Fortenberry. The family will receive friends following the service. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving Mrs. Fisher's family.

HARDY
Pearlie Ophelia Hardy of 519 W. 23rd Street, passed Sept. 1, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 16, 1927, to the late Sam Hardy and Lula Hardy in Forsyth County. She was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem and a mother to the community. She was a member of Mercy Seat Holiness Church. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Selinda Hardy Cobb (Eddie), Cheryl Bernice (Jessie) Green, and Sandra Jean (George) Morrison; two sons, Francisco (Claudette) Hardy and Alfredo (Julianna) Hardy, all of Winston-Salem; six sisters, Mammie Caldwell of Winston-Salem, Mary Elizabeth Alexander (Timothy) of Winston-Salem, Evelyn (Samuel) Conrad, Catherine (Taft) Mack, Lilly Bonner, and Burnu (Joe) Rucker; two brothers, William Grady (Chris) Hardy and Theodore Hardy; 32 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four devoted granddaughters, Selinda Hardy, Jeanerica (Bryant) Marsh, Chervitwan (Charles) King, and Mary Gimmons; two devoted grandsons, Anthony Green and Alphonso Green; and many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mercy Seat Holiness Church with Bishop T.R. Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Gilmore Funeral Home. (GIlMORE).

HOWELL
James Roy Howell Sr., loving husband, father, and grandfather, entered his heavenly reward on Friday, Sept. 1, 2000. He was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Yadkin County to James Monroe and Myrtle Foster Howell. He was employed by R.J. Reynolds for 33 years. He was a member of Christ Wesleyan Church and the Loyal Workers Sunday School class. Mr. Howell was an avid deer hunter and gardener. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Alma H. Howell of the home; a son, Jimmy Howell and wife Angie of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Joan H. Tatum and husband Bill of Winston-Salem; a sister, Jane Demarrias of Winston-Salem; and four grandchildren, Alyson Howell, Kyle Howell, James Tatum, and Joseph Tatum. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Joey Jennings. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 2390 Union Cross Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

HUNTER
Mrs. Carolyn Ann Allen Hunter, 64, of 800 Ransom Road, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Saturday evening. She had been in declining health since 1984. Mrs. Hunter was born in Winston-Salem on Aug. 26, 1936, to Robert Monroe Allen, Sr. and Carolyn Thornton Hunter. She graduated from Old Town High School in 1954 and from Wake Forest University in 1959. Mrs. Hunter taught school in the elementary grades for 12 years, retiring due to her health. She was a charter member of College Park Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her father in 1975. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, James Melvin Hunter Jr. of the home; her daughter, Emma Elizabeth Hunter Royall; her son, James Melvin Hunter, III; one grandson, Sean-Thomas Royall; and a sister, Charlotte Elizabeth Allen Langley, all of Winston-Salem; and one brother, Robert Monroe Allen Jr. of Rockford. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at College Park Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Charles Edwards, Pastor. The family will receive friends at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the College Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 1701 Polo Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.

LONG
Mrs. Billie Joyce Hamilton Long, 68, of 2675 Reynolds Park Road passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, on the way to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center unexpectedly. She was born in Birmingham, Ala., on July 29, 1932, to the late Phillip and Willie Hamilton. She was a former member of New Light Baptist Church and was presently a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of the U.S. Federal Government. Billie leaves to mourn a loving husband, Ben; two sons, Darryl (Julie) of El Rancho, N.M., and Marlin; two sisters, Carolyn Vinson of Cleveland, Ohio, and Margaret Essex of Birmingham, Ala.; six stepchildren, Linda, Sheila, Benetta, and Ben Jr., all of New York, N.Y., Mary of Philadelphia, Pa., and Michael of Cleveland, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers-in-law, Roy (Emma) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Donald (Betty) of Detroit, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Carrie (Eugene) of New York, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, from Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. John Mendez officiating. Entombment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. (RUSSELL)

MOTSINGER
DOBSON -- Mrs. Rebecca Jones Motsinger, 55, of Michael Drive in Dobson, died at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Mrs. Motsinger was born in Forsyth County Oct. 19, 1944, to the late Grover Jones and Katie Bolick Jones. She was a retired Librarian Assistant and SIMS Coordinator for Dobson Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dobson and of the Dobson Women's Club. Surviving are her husband, Wayne Motsinger of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and David Wilmoth of Emerald Isle; one son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Kelly Motsinger of Pilot Mountain; her mother-in-law, Pauline Motsinger of Winston-Salem; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Ann and Jimmy Laughter of Winston-Salem , and Pat and Bill Lewis of King; two brothers and sisters-in-law, G.C. and Bobbi Jones of Winston-Salem and Randall , and Iris Jones of Pfafftown. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Dobson with burial in the Dobson City Cemetery. Her body will remain at Davis & Son Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The Rev. Van Lankford will be conducting the funeral services. The family will receive friends at Davis & Son Funeral Home in Dobson on Monday evening from 6:30 to 9. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society Surry County Unit, 500 E. Mo r ehead St., Ste. 2211, Charlotte, NC 28202 or to the First Baptist Church of Dobson Building Fund.

MYERS
LEXINGTON -- Mr. Jack J. Myers, 74, of Odell Owen Road, Lexington, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at 4:47 p.m. in the Golden Age Nursing Home after a serious illness of four weeks. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Hill Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. John Taylor. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Myers was born in Davidson County on May 13, 1926, to W. Levette (W.L.) Myers and Getrude Link Myers. He retired as owner and operator of Jack Myers Realty and Auction Co. and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the retired director of Davidson Electric Membership. His brother, Coley Myers; and a sister, Peggy Louise Norman preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Christine Reid Myers of the home; one son, Martin M. Myers of Lexington; one daughter, Lauren M. Clarkson of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Samuel Boston Clarkson and William Myers Clarkson, both of Winston-Salem; and four sisters, Edna Crews, Inez Graves, Sarah Jo Newsome, and Ann Cude, all of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cancer Patient Support Program, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27157 or to the donor's favorite charity. Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

OAKLEY
Cynthia New Oakley, ''Cindy,'' 39, died Saturday morning, Sept. 2, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, after a lengthy and heroic fight against cancer. A Durham native, Cindy was born at Watts Hospital on Dec. 22, 1960, to William J. New and the late Jackie Pryor New. Cindy was educated in the Durham County Schools and graduated from N.C. State University. She was a vice president with BB&T in Winston-Salem. Cindy is survived by her husband of 17 years, Allen T. Oakley of Winston-Salem; and her beloved kitten, Motor. She is also survived by her father, William J. New of Durham; her sister, Martha New Milam and husband Dan of Durham; her parents-in-law, Connie P. and J. Louie Oakley of Providence, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Melanie Oakley Orton and husband Steve of Burlington and Ellen Oakley Cooper and husband Jerry of Graham; three special nephews; and two special nieces. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at Providence Baptist Church, Providence, N.C., with the Rev. Ken Clark officiating. The family will receive visitors at the home of Connie and Louie Oakley, 7003 Old Highway 86 N., Providence, N.C., immediately after the funeral. Additionally, a memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Clemmons United Methodist Church, Clemmons, with the Rev. David Baxter officiating. Cindy was an avid gardener and a devoted NCSU alumna. In honor of these interests, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Cindy's memory to the J.C. Raulston Arboretum, Department of Horticultural Science, N.C. State University, Box 7609, Raleigh, NC 27695-7609, Attn. Sandie Holdan.
