CAMPBELL
Mrs. Ann Eaton Campbell, age 67, of 3712 Whitfield Ct., passed away on Monday, September 13, 1999 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a short illness. She was born October 4, 1931 in Davie County in the Cedar Creek Community to Nora Foote Eaton and the late William H. Eaton. She was preceded in death by her husband Morgan Garfield Campbell; a brother, Thomas G. Eaton, and a sister Ethel E. West. Ann was a 1949 graduate of Davie County Training School and McLean Stenographic School. She retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System where she worked as a Teachers Assistant at Cash Elementary School. Mrs. Campbell was a life-long member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Choir and Missionary Circle of the Church. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her mother, Mrs. Nora Foote Eaton of Meadow Brook Terrace, Advance, N.C.; two brothers, Henry (Bernice) of Albemarle, N.C., and Odell (Annette) of Mocksville, N.C.; four sisters, Willie Wiseman of Rahway, N.J., Bessie Eaton and Queen McKnight both of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Jean Eaton of Mocksville, N.C.; one aunt, Maggie Roseboro of Cool Springs, N.C.; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Eaton and Rachel Campbell, both of Winston-Salem, and Magalene Holman of Philadelphia, Pa. A devoted niece, Dorothy (James) Rhynehardt of Columbus, Ohio, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Among them two dear cousins, Lillie Scott and Millie West; her devoted childhood friend, Thelma Carpenter. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 1999 at 2 p.m. from Cedar Creek Baptist Church, where Rev. Michael Linville will officiate and Eulogy will be given by H.W. Whiley. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family may be contacted and funeral cortege will assemble and leave from the home of a brother, Odell Eaton, Cedar Creek Rd., in Davie County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem. Arrangements entrusted to and services will be conducted by Gilmore Funeral Directors.

CARTER
HAMPTONVILLE -- Betty Lou Weatherman Carter, 68, of Judge Rd., passed away Thursday, September 16, 1999 at Elkin Healthcare Center. She was born September 21, 1930 in Yadkin County to Sherman and Mallie Vestal Weatherman. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father and by her husband, Ray Bob Carter in 1995. Surviving are her children, Barry (Carol) Carter, Sandy Carter Harris, and Linda (Larry) Adams all of Hamptonville; three grandsons, Chad Carter, Matt Harris, and Mark Harris; her mother, Mallie V. Weatherman of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center; a sister, Jean (Walter) Barker; and two brothers, Landy (Faye) Weatherman and J.L. (Hilda) Weatherman. Her funeral arrangements are incomplete with Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville serving the family.

CATES
Mr. John Bynum Cates, 77, of 1640 Pugh Dr., Winston-Salem, died early Thursday morning, September 16, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 19, 1922 in Forsyth County to Joseph and Mary Brown Cates. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had retired from R.J. Reynolds. Mr. Cates was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and is survived by his wife, Sylvia Caudle Cates of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lois Cates of Germanton and Ron and Kathy Cates of King; two grandchildren, Wendy Lynn Cates and Ronald Grey Cates; three sisters, Janie Underwood, Ethel Idol, and Leeana Gordy Robertson; and a brother, Fred Cates. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by Rev. Frank Shumate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

COLLINS
WESTFIELD -- Mr. George Orville Collins, 76, husband of Louise Joyce Collins, of 1090 Collins Acres Road, Westfield, N.C., died Wednesday evening, Sept. 15, 1999 at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Collins was born in Stokes County, Dec. 16, 1922 to McKinley and Dona Elizabeth Hunter Collins. He was a retired employee of the Hastings Company in King, N.C., a veteran of World War II serving as a medic in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations, and was a member of friendly Chapel Church in Pilot Mountain, N.C. Surviving are his wife, Louise Joyce Collins of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Brenda Collins of Westfield and Don and Pat Collins of Liberty; two grandchildren, Donald Ray Collins, Jr. of Greensboro and Brian Keith Collins of Ramseur, N.C.; one great-grandchild, Trevor Luke Collins of Ramseur; and one brother and sister-in-law, Aldine and Trevella Collins of Westfield. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a grandson, Mickey James Collins; one sister, Elsie Collins; and two brothers, Owen Collins and Graham Collins. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, Sept. 18, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Friendly Chapel Church in Pilot Mountain, N.C. by Brother Don Collins and Brother Jerry Pardue. Burial will be in the Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Collins is at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C. and will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral services. The family will receive friends at the Cox-Needham Chapel Friday evening, Sept. 17, 1999 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at other times at the Collins Home, 1090 Collins Acres Road, Westfield, N.C. Memorials may be made in floral tribute or to Northern Hospice, P.O. Box 6626, Mt. Airy, N.C. 27030.

HARTGROVE
KING -- Mrs. Kathleen Burke Hartgrove, 62, of Hartgrove Road, died Thursday, September 16, 1999. She was born October 13, 1936 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, England to Francis Burke and Kathleen Clifford Burke. In November of 1957, she came to the United States to marry Dennis Gray Hartgrove whom she met while he was serving in the United States Air Force in England. Surviving are her husband, Dennis Gray Hartgrove; three daughters, Kim Lorraine Hartgrove and Melinda Gale Hartgrove of Winston-Salem and Jeanine Hartgrove Ulsenheimer and husband, Tom of King; one granddaughter, Ashely Kathleen Ulsenheimer; one sister, Eileen Burke Bancroft and husband, Brian of Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, England; two brothers, John Clifford Burke and wife, Margaret of Ripley, Derbyshire, England and David Patrick Burke and wife, Joy of Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, England; and many special in-laws, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends at a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 1999 at the First Baptist Church in King. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 1100-C South Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

HAYES
LEXINGTON -- Mrs. Gladys Hutchins Hayes, 83, of Community Road, Lexington, died Wednesday, September 16, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born July 7, 1916 in Davie County to Grover Cleveland Hutchins and Ester Vestal Hutchins. She married John H. Hayes in 1934, he died in 1979. Mrs. Hayes retired from Hanes corp. in 1975 after 40 years service. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, John Melvin who died in 1938; a daughter, Joanne Hayes Wood who died in 1995; a sister, Lillian Snow; and three brothers, Edgar, Grover, and Billy Hutchins. Surviving are her grandson, John W. Wood and wife, Vickie of Arcadia; one brother, Bob L. Hutchins and wife, Helen of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren, Teresa Wood Hulin and husband, Terry, Jeremiah Wood, and Zachary Wood; one great-great-grandson, T.J. Hulin; sister-in-law, Norris Hutchins; brother-in-law, Rev. Hobert Snow; son-in-law, Bill Wood; and several nieces, nephews, and good friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Arcadia United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alton Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory, Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

HAYNES
Mrs. Lillian Mae Haynes, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999 at the Brookridge Retirement Home. Born June 26, 1914 to the late Elmer Ellsworth and Sarah Katherine Manning Tyner. Mrs. Haynes taught High School and Jr. High in Illinois and Ohio. Following her retirement from the Toledo public schools, the Haynes moved to SunCity, Arizona where they lived for 22 years. There Mrs. Haynes was in several active musical groups and did volunteer tutoring to Spanish speaking adults. Surviving are her husband, Ellsworth S. Haynes of the home; a daughter, Linda Engle and husband, Ed of Winston-Salem; two sons, Ronald Haynes and wife, Vicki Partin of Frankfurt, Germany and Dennis Haynes and wife Linda of Toledo, Ohio; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at the Forsyth Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Calvin Knight officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the Mausoleum Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

HOLLEMAN
ROARING RIVER -- Mrs. Hazel Eloise Love Holleman, 81, of Blackburn Road, Roaring River, widow of James Edward Holleman, died September 16, 1999 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. at Roaring River Baptist Church with the Rev. Rex Foster and the Rev. Olin Barker officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Holleman was born May 30, 1918 in Wilkes County to Will and Alice Burchette Love. She was a member of Ronda Baptist Tabernacle. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charlie (JoAnn) Blackburn of North Wilkesboro, Mrs. Don (Mary) Sparks of Roaring River, and Mrs. James (Carol Joy) Price of Roaring River; two sons, James (Pete) Holleman of Jonesville and Bill Edward Holleman of Roaring River; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. The family will be at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Friday night from 6:30 until 8:30. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Roaring River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 312 White Plains Road, Roaring River, N.C. 28669.

HUNDLEY
Mrs. Pauline Watkins Hundley, 90, of Meadowbrook Terrace of Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, September 14, 1999. She was born April 21, 1909 in Forsyth County to the late Charles Walon and Minnie Leinbach Watkins. Mrs. Hundley was a member of First Baptist Church of Stoneville and was also a charter member of Advent Moravian Church in Winston-Salem. She was formerly Senior Citizen of the Year of Stoneville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hundley; two brothers, Roy and O. June Watkins. Surviving are three sisters, Lola W. Nifong and Carrie W. Pitts both of Winston-Salem and Hazel W. Jaro of Mooresville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Stoneville with Rev. Gus Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Stoneville Municipal Cemetery. Mrs. Hundley will lie instate at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Stoneville, P.O. Box 274, Stoneville, N.C. 27048 or Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

KING
STATESVILLE -- Mrs. Ivalee Moxley King, 84, of Statesville, N.C., died Wednesday, September 15, 1999 in the Brian Nursing Center. Mrs. King was a native of Laurel Spring, N.C. and was the daughter of the late John C. Moxley and Ellen Blevins Moxley. She was married to Charles Robert King, who died August 6, 1999. She was a registered nurse and had worked at H.F. Long Hospital, Iredell Memorial Hospital, and Davis Hospital before retiring in 1989. She is survived by two sons, Larry M. King and wife, Peggy and Steve King and wife, Lea; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. King was the last member of her family of ten children and was preceded in death by eight brothers, Lonnie, George E., David R., John D., Thomas S., Vaughn C., Shelley, and Ira Moxley and one sister, Effie M. Pruitt. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the First A.R.P. Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church following the memorial services. Memorials may be made to the H.F. Long Nursing Scholarship Fund, c/o Mitchell College, 500 W. Broad St., Statesville, N.C. 28677 or to the First A.R.P. Church, P.O. Box 1607, Statesville, N.C. 28687. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. King.
