CORNS
MOUNT AIRY -- Mary Ethelyne Martin Corns, 75, widow of Thomas Junior Corns, of 1297 Galax Trail, Mount Airy, N.C. (Formally of Westfield), died Wednesday September 22, 1999 at Twelve Oaks Rest Home, Mount Airy, N.C. Mrs. Corns was born in Stokes County February 3, 1924 to William Ezra and Jodie Lee Owens Martin. She was a homemaker, farmer, and a member of Brown Mountain Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Lynwood Payne, Westfield, N.C., Sandra and Carlton Jessup, Westfield, N.C.; one son, James Thomas (Tommy) Corns, Westfield, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Jane White, Westfield, N.C., eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Moir Martin, and Reed Martin, both of Mount Airy, N.C. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by one son, Robert Wayne (Bobby) Corns, and by one brother, Rayford Martin. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 24, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Mountain Baptist Church by Rev. Ricky Rogers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

DEWEY
Mrs. Betty Frazier Dewey, 76, formerly of Badin, N.C., died Tuesday, September 21, 1999 in Salisbury. Mrs. Dewey was born in Winston-Salem on August 25, 1923, a daughter of the late John W. and Adelaide Kimel Frazier. She retired from the Alcoa Aluminum Company in 1986 and was a member of Home Moravian Church. Mrs. Dewey was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dewey, who died in 1955 and by a daughter, Cholly Dewey, who died in 1976. She is survived by three daughters, Sue Miles of Raleigh, Dede Feldman of Atlanta, Ga., and Terrie Preslar of Salisbury; six grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy F. Glenn of Baden and Nancy F. Erb of Salisbury; and a brother, Howard E. Frazier of Asheville. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Moravian Graveyard. Rev. C. Scott Venable will officiate. The family suggest that memorials be made to Home Moravian Church, Box J., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27108 (Vogler's Main Street Chapel)

FEATHERS
Mrs. Inez Williams Feathers, 84, of Brookridge Retirement Community, died Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at the Sticht Center at the N.C. Baptist hospital. Mrs. Feathers was born in Pennington Gap, Virginia, December 9, 1914 the daughter of George Jarvis and Iva Lee Adkinson Williams. Mrs. Feathers was a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church and a honorary member of the Wake Forest Womens Club. She was the widow of William Beattie Feathers who died in 1979. He was a former football coach at N.C. State University and Wake Forest University. Mrs. Feathers was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and lover of her flower garden. She was predeceased by five brothers, George, James, Charles, Clarence, and Van. A memorial service will be held at Brookridge Retirement Community Friday at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow at Brookridge. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Vogler's Reynolda Rd. Chapel Friday from 7-8 p.m. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lynn) Meadows of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Harlon (Brenda) Stewart of Advance, and Mrs. Jane Taylor of Carrollton, Texas. eight grandchildren, Mike and Andy Taylor, Luci Manning, Mrs. Graham (Marla) M. Gaspard, Amy Meadows, Hunter and wife, Kate Meadows, and Jenny and James Stewart; and three great-grandchildren, Katherine Manning, Graham Gaspard, and Victor Taylor. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of North Carolina.

HYATT
Carol Holcomb Hyatt, 60, of 5022 W. Old Hwy. 64, Lexington, died September 21, 1999 at Lexington Memorial Hospital. She is survived by a brother, Charles Holcomb of Midway. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 24, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at The Timberlake Chapel at Piedmont Funeral Home. Dr. Robert Floyd will officiate. Burial will be in the Lexington City Cemetery. The visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Piedmont Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Lexington Baptist Church, 201 Mize Rd., Lexington, N.C. 27292.

JOYCE
Mrs. Nellie Frances Inman Joyce, 95, of 2132 Westfield Road, Mt. Airy, N.C., widow of Eugene Fletcher Joyce, died Wednesday morning, September 22, 1999 at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mt. Airy, N.C. Mrs. Joyce was born in Surry County June 14, 1904 the daughter of the late Maurice and Mary Frances Haymore Inman. Mrs. Joyce was a homemaker and was a member of the Indian Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Virginia J. Taylor of Mt. Airy, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Cora Joyce of Randleman, N.C., and Bernard and Lois Joyce of Asheboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Jerry Taylor of Dobson, N.C., Tammy York of Pilot Mountain, N.C., Patricia Gordon of Asheboro, N.C., Wayne Joyce of Asheboro, N.C., Marty Joyce of High Point, N.C., Carl Joyce of Randleman, N.C., and Terry Coleman of Greensboro, N.C.; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Brim of Seagrove, N.C., and Mrs. Dorothy Arrington of Mt. Airy, N.C.; one brother, Roscoe (Tobe) Inman of Mt. Airy, N.C. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy with the service conducted by Rev. Tommy Floyd, with burial to follow in the Indian Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday night from 7 to 9 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Indian Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 273 Indian Grove Church Road, Mt. Airy, N.C. 27030.

LEITCH
Mrs. Laura Katherine Timmons Leitch, ''Timmie'', 84, died Sunday, September 19, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Leitch was a native of Bishop, Maryland where she was born March 15, 1915 to the late Medford J. and Irene Hudson Timmons. She was a graduate of Western Maryland College and taught for several years at Goldy College in Wilmington, Delaware before moving to Winston-Salem in 1950 where her husband, Herbert K. Leitch worked for Western Electric. Mr. Leitch preceded his wife in death in 1989. Mr. and Mrs. Leitch were faithful members of Centenary United Methodist Church. Mrs. Leitch is survived by a sister, Mrs. Guy R. (Peggy) Smith of Rockville, Maryland; an aunt, Mrs. Elva Steele of Delaware; two nieces; four nephews; and a God-son, Will Lancaster of Winston-Salem. In keeping with her expressed desire, Mrs. Leitch's body was given to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for use in medical research. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church. Dr. J. Robert Nations will officiate. The family requests that memorials be made to The Music Fund, Centenary UMC, P.O. box 658, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27102. Vogler and Sons Main Street Chapel is assisting the Leitch family.

LEMONS
BURLINGTON -- Carrine V. Lemons of Burlington, N.C. passed away Tuesday, September 21, 1999. A mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, full of love for The Heavenly Father and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, great grandson, Jordon, and her husband, Talmadge Hughes Lemons. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Welch of Lewisville; two granddaughters, Leia Hamlyn and husband David of Randleman, N.C. and Kendra Mobley and husband, Joe, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; three great granddaughters, Chelsea, Emma, and Victoria; a special niece, Melinda Mansfield of Burlington. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kerners- ville, N.C. The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of the donors choice. Arrangements by Cremation Services of Winston-Salem

MCKINNON
Mr. Roosevelt McKinnon ''Big Eye'', age 66, passed away on Saturday morning September 18, 1999 after period of declining health at the VA Hospital in Richmond, Va. He is survived by two daughters, Veronica Davis, Barbara (William) Richardson of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, James W. (Bernice) McKinnon; One sister, Venetta Hunt of Winston-Salem; two nieces; a devoted caregiver, Jerry Tyler of Winston-Salem, and several cousins, and a host of friends. Services was conducted on Wednesday, September 22, at Beasley's Chapel at 7 p.m. Interment will be Friday, September 24, at 10 a.m. at the VA Cemetery, Salisbury. Beasley's Funeral Home in charge of services and arrangements.

MYERS
Miss Ambrosia Lashane ''Ammye'' Myers, 18, of Pfafftown, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 21, 1999. A native of Forsyth County, she was born September 15, 1981 to Grady Estel and Sherrie Hyatt Myers. She attended the First Alliance Church in Winston-Salem. She was preceeded in death by her mother in 1996. Miss Myers is survived by her father, Grady E. Myers; two brothers, Dale Myers of Winston-Salem, and Brian Myers of Pfafftown; one niece, Lauren Puckett and one nephew, Joshua Myers; her maternal grandparents, Richard and Libby Carter of Winston-Salem, and her paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ruby Myers of Pfafftown; and a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at Crestview Memorial Park 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 1999, officiated by Steve Myers. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. this evening at Hayworth-Miller, Rural Hall Chapel.

PARKES
Samantha Kay Parkes, 31 of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, the 20th of September. Surviving are two sons, Dustin Brian Parkes, age 10 yrs. , and Brandon Kyle Perrell, age 9 yrs.; her father, Harvey Lee Parks of Florida; her mother, Barbara Kay Bowles of Rural Hall; one brother, Daniel Lee Parkes of Winston-Salem; grandparents, Jessie and Ollie King of Pfafftown. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at King Christian Center, King, N.C.
