STRIPLIN
POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- Mrs. Patricia Striplin, 48, of Powder Springs, Ga., died Wednesday, September 1, 1999. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Milford Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Barry officiating. Interment will be in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. The body will lie instate from 1:00 until thetime of service at the church. Mrs. Striplin was a native of Kingsport, Tennessee and moved to the area 28 years ago. She was a volunteer at Smitha Middle School and Birney Elementary School and a member of Milford Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Pete Striplin and her daughter, Catherine Striplin both of Powder Springs, Ga.; a sister, Faye Sievers Dalton of Marietta, Ga.; and a brother, Conrad Sievers of Winston-Salem, N.C. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. West Cobb Funeral Home, Marietta, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.

TROUTT
GERMANTON -- Mr. Henry Rex ''Mike'' Troutt, 77, of Germanton, died at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on Wednesday, September 1, 1999 following a period of declining health. A native of Forsyth County he was born January 3, 1922 to W.W. and Dora Farmington Troutt. Mr. Troutt was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, with the 637th Quarter Master. He was a member of the Teamsters
Local 391, an avid hunter, and fisherman. Mr. Troutt was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Pheobe McGee Troutt on June 9, 1998. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Sue Evans and husband, Jimmy of Winston-Salem; one son and daughter-in-law, Henry R. ''Pedro'' Troutt, Jr. and wife, Ann of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Byerly of Walkertown; a special sister-in-law, Cora McGee and a special niece, Doris Lawson both of Rural Hall; also surviving are several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 1999 in the Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel (Walkertown) officiated by Rev. Brian Taylor. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are to be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

BAUGUSS
NORTH WILKESBORO -- Mrs. Ann Wood Bauguss, 79, of Villages of Wilkes Skilled Care, Old Brickyard Rd., North Wilkesboro, died Tuesday, November 2, 1999. She was born May 16, 1920 to Robert and Dora Durham Holbrook. She was the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Crommie Holbrook. Mrs. Bauguss was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Bauguss and two sons, Gary Bryce Bauguss and Ronald K. Bauguss. Surviving are daughter, Carol Billings of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her sister, Janie Rushing of Hagen, Ga.; her brother, Roy Wood of Traphill; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 1999 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel conducted by Rev. Larry Adams. Burial will be at Mountlawn Memorial Park.

BEAVER
MOCKSVILLE -- Mr. Oscar Edwards Beaver, 76, of Spring Street, Mocksville, died Wednesday, November 3, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The body will remain at Eaton Funeral Service in Mocksville pending completion of funeral arrangements.

BOVENDER
Rev. Ruth Fortson Bovender, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Novmeber 1, 1999. She was born in Royston, Georgia, June 8, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Reverend L.H. Fortson and Josie Barton Fortson. She attended Emmanuel and Holmes Bible Colleges . She received a Bachelor of Bible Theology from the International Bible In stitute and Seminary, a Master of Bible Theology and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from United Theo logical Seminary in Orlando, Florida in 1983. She was ordained March 4, 1956 by her father through the Interdenominational Association of Atlanta, Georgia. She served as Pastor of Central Tabernacle for 43 years from 1956 to present where her parishioners lovingly called her ''Sister Ruth''. She was privileged to have ministered to many, holding revivals in her home state of Georgia as well as in South Carolina and in Jamaica, where a sister church has been established. Her sermons have been broadcast on WLXN Thomasville, WAIR & WBJF Winston-Salem, and the Caribbean Beacon, West Indies radio stations. The Ruth Bovender Story, a message of her ministry, was featured in the Oral Roberts Abundant Life Magazine in 1961. She has served as a Pastoral Counselor for the N.C. Christian Endeavor Association and as a guest minister to open the Board of Alderman meetings with an invocation. She was on the Board of Hospice and a participating Chaplain at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. To the many whose lives she touched, she was pastor, teacher, counselor, mentor, and friend. She was a compassionate mother and loving ''Ama'' to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all. She is survived by a son, W. Lee Bovender and wife, Nancy of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Kaye Hester and husband, Kenneth of Clemmons and Sandra Bovender of the home; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kent and Lisa Bovender, Johnny and Hope Slate, Keith and Shanna Hester, and Brian and Kelli Stoup; four great-grandchildren, Erica Parrish, Kayla Bovender, Christopher Slate, and Hunter Hester. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Jessie Price of Texas, Mrs. Jeanette Ennis, Mrs. Geneva Kiser, and Mrs. Faye Tilley all of Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence and Edward Sanders, and Thurmond and Howard Fortson; two sisters, Janie F. Brim and Jewel F. Wallschlager. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 5, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Tabernacle Church by Rev. Bob Parmley and Rev. Steve Tilley. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Central Tabernacle Church, P.O. Box 12003, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27117-2003.

BRANDON
BOONVILLE -- Mrs. Patricia Ann Draughn Brandon, 32, of 108 Johnson Street, Boonville, N.C., died Monday afternoon, November 1, 1999 from injuries received in an automobile accident on Highway 601 near Dobson, N.C. Mrs. Brandon was born in Surry County June 29, 1967 to Otis Raymond Draughn and Annie Belle Shinault Draughn Starling. She was a Caregiver with the Touched by an Angel Organization and attended Victory Bible Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Kimberly Marlana Holt of Walkertown; one son, Charles Christopher Holt of Pilot Mountain; her mother, Annie Belle Shinault Draughn Starling of Boonville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne Otis and Patty Draughn of Mt. Airy and Howard ''Junior'' and Marjorie Draughn of Pilot Mountain; two special nieces; and two special nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, November 5, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C. by Brother Tommy Holder and Brother Rod Mayes. Burial will be in the Hills Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel Thursday evening, November 4, 1999 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at other times at the home of a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Patty Draughn, 313 Maple Drive, Mt. Airy, N.C. Donations may be made to a fund to benefit the minor children of Mrs. Brandon, c/o an uncle, Mr. Howard ''Junior'' Draughn, 132 Toyland Trail, Pilot Mountain, N.C. 27041.

BROWN
Mr. Samuel S. Brown, Jr., 48, a native of Forsyth County, attended Carver High School and graduated from Western Carolina University in 1974. He passed away on Friday, October 29, 1999 at Baylor Medical Center. Mr. Sam Brown resided, and was employed at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Dallas, Texas since 1981. He is survived by his son, Mr. Reginal Brown; five sisters, Ms. Minnie R. Brown and Ms. Maggie Ferguson of Winston-Salem, Ms. Jo Ann Brown and Ms. Argie Wortham of Dayton, Ohio, and Ms. Carolyn B. Valentine of Richmond, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 5, 1999 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John C.M.E. Church, Winston-Salem, N.C. Interment will be in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. CLARK S. BROWN & SONS FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF ALL SERVICES AND ARRANGEMENTS.

BYNUM
A memorial service for Mrs. Elizabeth Harnies Bynum, who died September 28, 1999, will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 1999.

BYNUM
Mrs. Elizabeth Harnies Bynum, 78, of Winston-Salem, the widow of Hugh Ellis Bynum, Jr., died Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at her home. She was born October 20, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to Cecil Morcom and Mary Rolfe Harnies. Mrs. Bynum served in France with the American Red Cross during WWII. She had been an active golfer as long as her health permitted, and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Old Town Club. Surviving are three step children, Hugh E. Bynum III of Centreville, Va., Janice Bynum Warnock of Bushnell, Fla., and Sherry Bynum Williams of Oxford, Fla.; one niece, Mrs. Linda McNutt Ibarra of Montevideo, Uruguay; one nephew, Alexander MacLean of San Jose, Calif. A committal Service and burial will be in Allegheny Cemetery in Oakmont, Pa., and a Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at a later date to be announced. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 520 Summit St., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101, Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103 or a charity of the donor's choice. (Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel).

COTHREN
Miss Mary Margaret Cothren, 41, of 367 Elk Spur St., Elkin, Daughter of Clyde and Cloie Holcomb Cothren, died Wednesday morning at Alleghany Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hollywood Cemetery by Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Bill Brown. Miss Cothren was born in Winston-Salem, January 21, 1958. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Sant Holcomb and Mr. & Mrs. Ford Cothren. Surviving in addition to her parents is a brother, Joe E. Cothren of Denver, Colo. The family will receive friends following the service at Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers any memorials be made to the charity of the donors choice. Kennedy Funeral Home in Elkin is in charge of funeral arrangements.
