WISHON
LENOIR -- Howard Earl Wishon, 64, Setzer's Creek Road, Lenoir, died Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born October 10, 1935 in Mocksville, North Carolina to the late Bob and Mattie Peeles Wishon. Mr. Wishon was self-employed and was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church and he was a member of the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ollie Scott of the home; three sons, Robert Wishon, Dr. Phillip Wishon and Mark Wishon all of Statesville; two step-sons, Wayne Scott and Glen Greer both of Lenoir; one daughter, Miss Lisa Wishon of Statesville; one step-daughter, Mrs. Benny (Crystal) Marley of Taylorsville; five brothers, Eldon Wishon and Basile Wishon both of Yadkinville, Fred Wishon of Harmony, R.C. Wishon, Elkin, and Howard ''Shorty'' Wishon of Mocksville; three sisters, Mrs. Katie Lee Sheppard of Mocksville, Mrs. Louise Martin of Hamptonville and Mrs. Lucille Holbrook of Yadkinville; two grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 29, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Keith Gillian and Rev. Mike Minton. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Gardens in Elkin. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Alexander, Wayne Scott, Eric Scott, James Scott, Dale Whisnant, and Chuck Bentley.

BRYANT
PILOT MOUNTAIN -- Ronnie Gray Bryant, 43, of 131 Dan Bryant Road, Pilot Mountain, N.C., died Thursday, October 28, 1999 at N.C. Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Bryant was born in Surry County October 9, 1956 to Omer Samuel and Annie Mae Beck Bryant. He worked for the City of Pilot Mountain, N.C. and was a member of Friendly Chapel Church. Surviving are his father, Omer Samuel Bryant of the home; one sister, Ronda Goad and Fiance', Don Stack of King; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Teresa Beck of Pilot Mountain, Ricky and Donna Bryant of Pinnacle, Randy and Shelby Bryant of Ararat, N.C., and Rex and Mary Bryant of Pilot Mountain; eight nieces, Stacey G., Leslie, Brandy, Taylor, Tiffany, Katelyn, Patricia, and Stacy; and three nephews, Lee, Damon, and Chris. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 31, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church by Bro. Don Collins. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C. on Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at other times at the Bryant home in Pilot Mountain, N.C.

CAMERON
Mrs. Evelyn Lee Cameron, 72, of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, October 28, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born June 26, 1927 in Forsyth County to Frank and Minnie Berrier. Mrs. Cameron was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Cameron and a special friend, Ray Junior Mayberry. Survivors include two sons, Richard Cameron and wife, Sharon of Winston-Salem and Robert Cameron of the home; two daughters, Mary Ann Whisenhunt and husband, Robert and Sandra Lawson and husband, Marion of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; and a special friend, Belinda David of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery by Rev. Albert Pollock. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel.

COOK
RURAL HALL -- Mr. Frank S. Cook, 78, of Cook Rd., died Thursday, October 28, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a period on declining health. he was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Durham Cook in June, 1994. Mr. Cook was born in the Westfield Community of Surry County, on June 28, 1921 the son of the late Fletcher S. and Lillie Tilley Cook. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rural Hall. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in both France and Germany during WWII and had been a member of Carl Calloway, American Legion Post #290 in King. Mr. Cook was an accomplished Blue Grass Guitarist and enjoyed sharing his talent with others. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Frances C. and Phillip Shouse of Advance; two sons, Larry F. Cook of Washington, D.C. and Jerry R. Cook of Savannah, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Beth and Matthew Shouse of Advance. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 1999 at the First Baptist Church of Rural Hall by Rev. Paul Wonders and Rev. Terry Brandon. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The Cook family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel and request that memorials be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C South Stratford Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

HEATH
Mrs. Betty Louise York Heath, 88, of Brookridge Retirement Home, died Friday, October 29, 1999. She was born July 23, 1911 in Iredell County to Simpson ''Sim'' and Pearly Mae Heath. Mrs. Heath was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clay Heath. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Surviving is one daughter, Jackie Heath Covington and husband, Joe of Bermuda Run; one son, H. Clay Heath, Jr. of Advance; three grandchildren, Susan Savage of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Sandra Cairncross and husband, Scott of Elcajon, Calif, and Jason Heath and wife, Heather of Clemmons; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Griffith and Evelyn Wallace both of Harmony; and one brother, Colin York of Mocksville. A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, October 31, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Park with Rev. Neal Eller officiating. There is no stated visitation. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund, 600 Old Hollow Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27105. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

HENDREN
STATESVILLE -- Travis Edward Hendren, of 392 Nixon Road, Statesville, died October 28, 1999 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born March 4, 1917 in Alexander County. He was the son of the late Willie Glenn Hendren and Annette Harrington Hendren. He graduated from Hiddenite High School in 1934 and from N.C. State College in 1939 with a BS degree in Agriculture Education. In 1970, he received a Master of Education Degree from N.C. State University. He worked as a vocational agriculture teacher in the N.C. public school system and Celeste Henkel High School, Cleveland High School, and West Rowan High School, and as a program consultant with the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. He retired in 1976. He also served as Mayor of Cleveland, N.C. for four years (1992-1996). He was a Charter Member of the Cleveland Lions Club and served numerous leadership positions in the organization over a 50 year period. he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1939. He served as an infantry officer in the European Theatre during World War II with the 35th Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for twice being wounded in action. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1977. His wife, Grace Hedrick Hendren, whom he married June 20, 1998, survives him. His first wife, Mary Tumlin Hendren, died in 1992. He is also survived by one daughter, Myrna Hendren Leggett and husband, Arthur Leggett of Fairmont, N.C.; one son, Dr. Tom Hendren and wife, Catherine of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, L.B. Johnson and husband, Rob of Hiddenite, N.C.; two step-children, Larry Hedrick and wife, Sue and Vickie Hedrick Bennett; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for today, Saturday, October 30, 1999, 3:00 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Robbie Page, Reverend William Wease, and Reverend Glenn Dancy. Burial will follow in Cleveland Baptist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hebron Baptist Church of Statesville or Cleveland Baptist Church of Cleveland, N.C. HUFF
YADKINVILLE -- Mrs. Irene Hunter Huff, 82, of North Oak Ridge Road, died Friday, October 29, 1999 at Yadkin Nursing Center. She was born March 6, 1917 in Yadkin County to the late Otto and Mallie Caudle Hunter. Mrs. Huff was a homemaker and a member of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Huff on June 9, 1994; a sister, Ann Casstevens; and two brothers, Lee Hunter and Roy Hunter. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Peggy H. (Tom) Day of Yadkinville; two sisters, Mary Ruth Bolin of Boonville and Caldonia Burcham of Jonesville; one brother, Grady Hunter of Boonville; three grandchildren, Allen (Cindy) Day and Regina Day all of Yadkinville, and David (Nikki) Day of Jonesville; and one great-grandchild, Ariel Day. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. Sammy Shoaf and Rev. Eddie Killian will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Hwy. 601 N. of Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist School Tiger Teamsters, P.O. Box 40, Boonville, N.C. 27011 or to Hospice of Yadkin County, P.O. Box 1267, Yadkinville, N.C. 27055.

MCCALL
Bishop Ulyses Isaiah McCall was born in Florence County on May 6, 1927. He was the son of the late Mr. Maxie and Mrs. Annie Bell McCall. He departed this life on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at the home. He was educated in Florence County and continued his education at the Piedmont Bible College located in Winston-Salem, N.C. Early in his life he moved to Winston-Sale and was employed by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, until his retirement in 1982. He served as the 1st Vice-Chairman of the United Churches of Jesus (Apostolic), a National Board Member, and one of the national treasurers. He also previously served as the State Bishop of South Carolina. He remained an ''Apostolic Pioneer'' refusing to change the ''Word of God'' for the people. His strong stance that he took for the Apostolic Church, located in Winston-Salem, under the dynamic leadership of the late Bishop Eli Daniels. He faithfully served in many segments of church work there. To name a few, he served as choir director, U.P.A.A. president, and deacon in the church. After serving faithfully in those capacities. God called him into the ministry. He served as the Assistant Pastor of Christ Temple for several years. Because God said these works and greater works you will do, Bishop McCall came back to Florence, S.C. to preach the word to his kindred and all those who would obey the law of Jesus Christ. In 1957, Bishop McCall ran a revival at the Joint Stock Hall along with Bishop Eli Daniels and Bishop Oscar D. Legrant both if Winston-Salem. He then became the Pastor and Founder of Bethel Apostolic Church located in Florence, S.C. and began the Pastor and Founder of Bethel Apostolic Church located in Florence, S.C. and began church services at the home of late Deacon and Sister Elex Nettles. He started out with only five members, In 1972, the first church building was completed at 528 S. Charlotte St. There soon was a need for a larger building and the Lord gave Bishop McCall a vision of a church on 1110 E. Walnut St. The building was completed in 1975 and was paid for completely in less than three years. In 1985, the Lord blessed Bishop McCall with yet another vision. In 1986, Bishop McCall, along with Bethel Church Family, purchased the former Old Wilson High School located at 1200 N. Irby St. In 1989, Phase 1 of the renovations were completed and the church moved in. Phase II of the renovations are now in progress. In the past 42 year of pastoring, 25 years he commuted to Florence each weekend to preach to God's people. His motto was ''I don't want to rust, but let me wear out''. Because of his willingness to reach out and help the community, he received numerous honors and rewards. He received a congressional pin that was presented by the South Carolina House of Representatives. He was awarded the Key to the City of Florence, S.C. in 1982, with a proclamation that recognizes April 26 as Dr. U.I. McCall's Day. He also had a circle named after him called Dr. McCall Circle, which is located in front of the church. Bishop McCall was active in several civic affairs, which included contributions to the American Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation, the Pee Dee Mental Retardation Center, and the Britni Foundation. He also served on the F.E.M.A. Board, Francis Marion University's Steering Committee, and actively served Habitat for Humanity. The church currently serves as a site for the Government Surplus Commodity Give-Away, and the Council for Energy Assistance. Those who shared the joy of life with him and survived to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 50 years, Mrs. Louise R. McCall; one daughter, Barbara (Willie) Flemming; seven sisters, Hattie Williams, Aletha (Lonnie) Harrison, Annie (Lee Samuel) Howard, Melody (David) McIntyre, Annie Bell Cooper, Joyce Davis, and Ella Mae (Levon) Galloway; four brothers, Harry (Sarah) McCall, Woodrow (Gail) Davis, Bishop Willie (Betty) Davis, Jr., and Roosevelt (Olivia) King; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three aunts; one uncle; the Bethel Church Family; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 30, 1999 from the Bethel Apostolic Church in Florence, S.C. with interment following in the church cemetery. HAMPTONVILLE -- Mr. Sherman Renegar, 75, of 3541 Key St., Hamptonville, died October 29, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1923 to Mearl O. and Ethel Chamberlain Renegar. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church an a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, DeEtte Wooten Renegar of th home; one daughter, Gayle Brown of Hamptonville; two sons, Larry (Vonda) Renegar of Winston-Salem and Archie (Jackie) Renegar of Kernersville; one sister, Lillian Harris of Hickory; two brothers, Harold Renegar and Lloyd Renegar both of Mocksville; and four grandchildren, Susan Renegar, Scott (Laura) Renegar, Stephanie Brown, and Shannon Renegar. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, october 31, 1999 at Flat Rock Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Cannon, Dr. Chuck Towery, and Rev. Dewey Hobbs. The body will lie instate from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Hwy 601 N. of Yadkinville. Memorials may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church Building Fund of to the Charity of the donor's choice.

SHELTON
MADISON -- Mrs. Mabel Payne Shelton, 78, of 4017 N.C. 704, Madison, N.C., died Thursday, October 28, 1999 at her home. She was retired from American Tobacco Company and was a member of Comer's Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Lillie Ore Payne; her husband, Alvin Shelton; brothers, John and William T. Payne; and her sister, Gwendolyn Payne. Surviving are three sisters, Myrtle Payne Washburn of Wilmington, Annie Payne Shelton and husband, Otis of Madison, and Janie Payne Gentry and husband, Coolidge of Stoneville; a sister-in-law, Isabelle Payne; a special friend, Darline Quidley Craddock; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 1999 at Comer's Chapel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 1999 and other times at the home of Mrs. Annie Shelton, 4053 N.C. 704, Madison, N.C. 27025.
