WILLIAMS
MOCKSVILLE -- Mr. Charlie (Buzz) Harrison Williams, 84, formerly of U.S. Hwy. 158 East, died Monday night at Autumn Care of Mocksville where he had been a resident from the past five months. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Whitehart, Rev. Elmer Day, and Rev. B.A. Carroll officiating. Burial will be in the Cornatzer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. They request memorials be considered for the Cornatzer Baptist Church, 1372 Cornatzer Road, Mocksville, N.C. 27028. Mr. Williams was born in Davie County August 27, 1915 to the late Charlie Franklin and Beulah Jane Hanes Williams and was a retired machinist with Western Electric with over twenty-six years of service. He was a graduate of the Smith Grove High School Class of 1933, and a graduate of the Piedmont Bible Institute Class of 1952. He was a member of the Cornatzer Baptist Church where he taught the Adult Bible Class for forty years. He was a member of the Telephone pioneers of America and a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McCulloh Williams in 1997, also by two brothers, George hanes Williams and James Vestal Williams, and by three sisters, Lillian Norman, Hattie Williams, and an infant sister, Nancy Williams. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Danny ''Wheel Man'' Charles of Mocksville; one son and daughter-in-law, Charlie Wayne and Carol Williams of Mocksville; three grandchildren, Michael Williams, Jason Stewart, and Cindy Charles; and a great-granddaughter, Britani Charles.

WOOD
KING -- Rachel Lee Johnson Wood, 79, of Mountain View Road, died Monday, January 17, 2000 at the WFU/Baptist Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born May 27, 1920 in Stokes County to Joseph Edwin and Ida Frances Kiser Johnson and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Hanes O'Neal Wood in 1997. She dedicated her life to raising her family by providing a loving home where friends and family were always welcome. Surviving are three adoring sons, Christopher O'Neal Wood of Atlanta, Ga., Jeffrey Lee Wood of Dallas, Texas, and Samuel Tip (Donna Smith) Wood of King; two loving grandson, Jonathan O'Neal Wood of Winston-Salem and Samuel Lee Wood of King; four devoted sisters, Estelle Underwood, Oberia Reudelhuber, Jessie Stone, and Frances Vance all of King; and a loving extended family. She was a member of Quaker Gap Baptist Church where a memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. James Baldwin officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Crossing Over Fund of Quaker Gap Baptist Church, 2265 Flat Shoals Road, King, N.C. 27021 or to the American heart Association, 202 Centreport Drive, Suite 100, Greensboro, N.C. 27409. Slate Funeral Home in King is in charge of the arrangements.

PHILLIPS
Mrs. Myrtice Reynolds Banister Phillips, 100, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at Village Care of King. She was born December 11, 1899 in Canon, Ga. to Major and Emma Myer Reynolds. Mrs. Phillips was the oldest living member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. She celebrated her 100th birthday December 11, 1999 at Village Care of King with over 50 members of her family present. She was known by her family and friends for her love of life and good sense of humor. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her first husband, James Claude Banister and her second husband, Clyde Phillips. Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Wright, Jean Buchanan and Frances Walker all of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. David Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorials Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday t the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Forest Hill Baptist Church.

ROTHROCK
Mr. Billy Eugene Rothrock, 70, of the Brian Center, Lexington, N.C., died at the Lexington Memorial Hospital on January 18, 2000. He was born on November 14, 1929 in Davidson County to Thomas P. Rothrock and Lillian Craver Rothrock. Mr. Rothrock was formerly employed by Tuttle Lumber Co. and was a former member of Union Ridge United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Robbins. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Reynolds of Winston-Salem and Louise Snider and her husband, J.W. of Welcome; and two brothers, Lewis Rothrock of Lumberton and Johnnie Rothrock and his wife, Gaynell of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2000 at Union Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jon White officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

SEATS
LEWISVILLE -- Mr. Sidney H. Seats, 87, of Lewisville, died January 16, 2000. he was born to Sidney N. and Ethel Black Seats on May 22, 1912 in Lewisville where he lived all of his life. He was a farmer and a devoted member of Union United methodist Church where he served as a Trustee and was a member of the Cemetery Committee. He had perfect attendance for the church worship service and Sunday School of 41 years. All of the years of Perfect attendance had been at Union United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death in March 1989 by his wife, Carrie Bowen Seats; his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie S. Langley and Mrs. Adeline S. Harbin; and a brother, Hugh G. Seats. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth S. Pilcher of Lewisville, Mrs. Frances S. Sisk (Victor) of Winston-Salem, and Mrs. Mary S. O'Harrah (Les) of Lewisville; four brothers, John Seats (Louise), Joseph ''Ted'' Seats (Ann), William ''Tan'' Seats (Wayne), and Worth Seats (Faye) and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jackie Seats (Hugh) all of Lewisville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Union United Methodist Church, 8935 Shallowford Rd., Lewisville, N.C. at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2000 by Rev. Thomas Albert, Rev. Edwin Needham, and Rev. James R. Faggart. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Vogler's Clemmons Chapel. At other times, the family may be reached at the home of Worth Seats of Lewisville. Flowers will be accepted of memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church, c/o Clyde Pfaff, 1119 PeaceHaven Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

TESH
Mrs. Elizabeth Nye Tesh, 82, passed away Monday, January 17, 2000 at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle, N.C. She was born in Whiteville, N.C. to Edward Broughton and Maybelle Price Nye on April 13, 1917. She was a member of Christ Moravian Church for many years. She is survived by three sons, David M. Tesh of Raleigh, Thomas N. Tesh of Albemarle, and Paul E. Tesh of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Michael and Tracy Tesh both of Albemarle and two step-grandchildren, Brian and Justin Wilhite both of Albemarle. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, January 20, 2000 at the Moravian Graveyard by Rev. Wallace E. Elliott at 2:00 p.m. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek is serving the family. Memorials may be made to Christ Moravian Church, 919 W. Academy S., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27101.

TAYLOR
KING -- Mrs. Rhumell Coins Taylor, 70, wife of Walter Kenneth Taylor, of 1737 Marshall Smith Road, King, N.C., died Thursday, October 14, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mrs Taylor was born in Stokes County, October 3, 1929 to Willie Raymond and Ruby Gertrude King Coina. She was retired from Lucia, Inc. and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Surviving are her husband, Walter Kenneth Taylor of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Harry Morris of Winston-Salem, Carol Hunter of Winston-Salem, and Trina and Bob Roberts of Tobaccoville; five grandchildren, Trey Morris, Kenny Morris, Jamie Tuttle, Justin Roberts, and Taylor Roberts; one brother, J.B. Coins of Winston-Salem; and one niece and husband, Rockie Currie and Tim of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Marion. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, October 16, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Rock House Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Vance Jones, Elder J.H. Keaton, and Elder Scottie Marshall. Burial will be at Brim's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C. on Friday , October 15, 1999 from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times at the Taylor home. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the eighth floor staff at Forsyth Medical Center for all their help and kindness during Mrs. Taylor's illness.

TEAGUE-STRAIT
Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bertha Mabel Teague-Strait, 79, went home to be with her Lord on October 13, 1999 after an extended illness. She was born February 3, 1920 in Cleveland County, N.C. to James Henry and Viola Hopper Teague. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Strait; two sisters, Gladys Sipes and Mae Tucker; and two brothers, William Teague and Ray Teague. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Peggy Smith Pittman (Richard) of Hildebran, N.C., Palmer L. ''Bobby'' Smith (Rita) of Arcadia, N.C., Patricia Smith Fishel (Roger), and Paulette Smith Shaffer (Denny) both of Winston-Salem. Her love for her eight grandchildren, Chuck, Chris, Cheryl, Palmer, Kim, Donna, Brian, and Amanda; and seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Devon, David, Brandy, Dakota, Kasey, and Taylor will never be forgotten. Also surviving Bertha are her four brothers and two sisters, Junior Teague (Evelyn), Hettie Yoder, and Catherine Hampton all of Hickory, Clyde Teague (Peggy), Jimmy Teague (Sis), and Marshall Teague (Carol) all of Hildebran; and many caring and loving nieces and nephews; and the father of he children, Gene F. Smith. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 16, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by her great-nephew, the Rev. Kenneth Hudson. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Friday evening, October 15, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 5950 Fairview Rd., Suite 708, Charlotte, N.C. 28210-3167.

TILLEY
STONEVILLE -- Mrs. Lillian Ada Lawson Tilley, 89, of 3234 N.C. 135, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at Brian Center in Eden. The service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Tilley was born to the late Jim and Zudie Hicks Lawson and was a member of Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Danbury. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Tilley and son, Bernie Tilley. She is survived by her son, Vilas Tilley of Stoneville; one brother, Swanson Lawson of Greensboro, four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Tilley's body will be taken to her home Friday at 2:00 p.m. where the family will be receiving friends. The body will be placed in Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Saturday at 1:00 p.m. where she will lie instate until the funeral hour. Brooke Funeral Home in Stokesdale is in charge of arrangements.

WEY
BOONE -- Dr. Herbert Walter Wey, 84, of 366 Howards Knob Road, Boone, retired Educator and Chancellor of Appalachian State University, died Friday morning, April 9, 1999, at his residence. He was a native of Terre Haute, Ind., and was born June 1, 1914. Dr. Wey was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jean Jenson Wey of the home; four daughters, Buddy Wetli of Miami, Fla., Linda Jean Leach and husband, Ralph B., of Goldsboro, N.C., Mary Jane Cruser and husband, Roger, of Peebles, Ohio, and Brenda Wey and husband, John Fillinger, of Boone; two brothers, Woodie Wey and Willie Wey, both of Cory, Ind.; two sisters, Agnes Rector of Cory, Ind., and Betty Hector of Daytona Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Funeral services for Dr. Herbert W. Wey will be conducted Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Tim Smith. Entombment will follow in the Mountlawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Appalachian State University for the Herbert W. Wey Scholarship, Boone, N.C. 28608, or to Grace Lutheran Church, 115 East King Street, Boone, N.C. 28607. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
