DILLON
WALKERTOWN -- Mr. Eugene Edward Dillon, 65, of Walkertown, N.C., died Friday, October 22, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born June 27, 1934 to Jesse Woodson and Hattie Woods Dillon, he was a retired salesman and of the Primitive Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Dillon, of the home; two sons, Johnnie Dillon and wife, Jill, of Pfafftown and Ken Dillon and wife, Stacy, of Kernersville; four sisters, Clarice Fulk, of Walkertown, Emma Delapp, of Walnut Cove, Adis Ogburn, of King, and Anise Mabe, of Walkertown; two brothers, John Dillon and wife, Joan, and Jack Dillon and wife, Marie, all of Walkertown; and three grandchildren, Zachary Dillon, Sarah Dillon, and Amy Dillon. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 24 at Burroughs Funeral Home, conducted by Elder William Dodson and Elder Millard Shelton. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home.

HOLLAND
NORTH WILKESBORO -- Mr. Joe Ralph Holland, 83, of Hunter Road, died Thursday, October 21, 1999 in Siler City. Born on March 6, 1916 to George and Dora Henderson Holland, he was the owner of Holland Lumber Company and a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Thompson Holland. Mr. Holland is survived by two daughters, Janet Hartley, of Wilkesboro and Marcia Holland, of the home; three sons, Brent Holland, of Mooresville, Jeff Holland, of Hickory, and Marc Holland, of the home; one brother, Archie Holland, of North Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, Stephen Hartley, Laura Hartley, Scott Holland, Eric Holland, and Christopher Holland; and one great grandchild, Bradley Shumate. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 24 at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Edwards and Rev. Paul Laws officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wilkesboro. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Gardens Christian Children's Home, P.O. Box 2777, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659 or to Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2180 Old 60, Wilkesboro, N.C. 28697.

JESSUP
MT. VERNON, N.Y. -- Mabel Sullivan Jessup died Thursday, October 21, 1999 at Sound Shore Medical Center after a long illness. She was 82 years old. Born June 10, 1917 to Calvin Sullivan and Frannie McCall in Darlington, S.C., Mrs. Jessup was the beloved mother of two daughters, Carole J. Morris, Founder, C.E.O. of the Mt. Vernon Neighborhood Health Center and Janice Christian, a retired attorney and judge, of Atlanta, Ga.; and two sons, Michael Jessup, a retired attorney and professor of Raleigh, N.C. and Sherman Jessup, Jr., an artist from Central Islip, Long Island. Mrs. Jessup, an ordained metaphysical minister, graduated from Winston Salem Teachers College and was a Doctor of Metaphysics; Doctor of Psychology in Metaphysics, and a Doctor of Divinity. Mrs. Jessup is predeceased by her husband, Samuel Jessup, who passed away in 1989. She spent her life help ing others. A retired school teacher in Winston-Salem, she was an ordained minister and founder of the Anagosian Church in Winston-Salem. She also founded the Anagosian Metaphysical College, where she inspired many through her metaphysical teachings. After 40 years of service in the Winston-Salem community, Mrs. Jessup returned to Mt. Vernon in 1997 to spend her final years in the care of her daughter, Carole Morris. Mrs. Jessup was an inspira tion to her loving family and the many people whose lives she touched. She lived to see and share the lives of 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Camelot Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, N.Y. on Saturday, October 23, at 4:00 p.m.

McCLAIN
GREENSBORO -- Ruth Huff Styers McClain, age 79, passed away Friday, October 22, 1999. She was a resident of Greensboro, N.C. most of her life, but was born and spent much of her youth in East Bend, N.C. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; daughters, Jackie Lockerman and Barbara Emery; and son, Dallas McClain, all of Greensboro. She is also survived by her sister, Mattie Sue Holder, of Sterling, Va.; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. The family will have visitation at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend on Saturday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m.

WEAVER
LEXINGTON -- Mr. Fred Edward Weaver, 83, of Golden Age, and formerly of Welcome-Arcadia Road, died Thursday, October 21, 1999 at Golden Age, following declining health of eight months. He was born on March 4, 1916 in Davidson County to Rome Lee Weaver and Lettie Elizabeth Leonard Weaver. He retired from Lexington Furniture Industries and was a member of Center United Methodist Church. Mr. Weaver served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Surviving are his wife, Rachel Charles Weaver, of Golden Age; two sons, Gene Edward Weaver and George Reid Weaver, both of Welcome; two daughters, Shirley Ann Weaver, of Welcome and Janice W. Kimel, of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Richard Edward Weaver, of Welcome, Michael Kimel of Arcadia, and Staci Kimel, of Greenville, N.C.; three brothers, Ray Von Weaver, Grover Weaver, and John Henry Weaver, all of Welcome; one sister, Alma Elaine Linville, of Welcome. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 24 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel by Rev. Larry Jent. Burial will follow in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Center United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 179, Welcome, N.C. 27374.

AMOS Mrs. Alma Mae Lowe Amos was born on January 9, 1918 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to the union of Hence Settle and Concerilla Penn Lowe. She was the eldest of three children. Alma Lowe Amos died Friday, October 22, 1999 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Alma Amos was educated in the public schools of Winston-Salem. She attended Winston-Salem Teachers College. Alma Amos was a retired employee of Winston-Salem State University. She was a member of the Atkins High School Classes of the Thirties and the Winston-Salem State University Classes of the Thirties. She was a member of Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church for many years, where she had been a former treasurer of the Sunday School, Vice President of the Co-Worker's Club and Christian Womens Fellowship I. Alma Amos was preceded in death by her second husband, James Artis Garrett, 1961; by a daughter, June Williams-Campbell, 1990; her husband, George Washington Amos, 1991; and a granddaughter, Candice Terresse Williams, 1995. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Dr. James P. Holland, 1998. Alma Lowe Amos is survived by four daughters and one step-daughter, Dr. Barbara K. Phillips (Garret), Constance K. Holland, Joan K. Phillips (Ervin), Nancy G. Armstrong (Charles), and Gretha G. Michael (Orpheus); one sister, Lillian Lowe Chandler; three grandchildren, Eleanor P. Phipps (Therron), Tammy W. Blackwell (Charles), and Charles (Chad) H. Armstrong, III; two great-grandsons, Garret B. Phipps and Chali' Blackwell; a niece, two great-nieces; a nephew, and their families, and many other relatives and many friends. Homegoing services will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at the Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church with Senior Pastor, Sheldon M. McCarter officiating. Family visitation will began one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in the family plot. Memorials may be made to the Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church Building Fund or flowers will be accepted. (HOOPER)

CAUDILL
GLADE VALLEY -- Mrs. Alma Blevins Caudill, 86, of 20 Caudill Road, Glade Valley, N.C., died Friday, October 22, 1999 at her residence. Born October 13, 1913 to Quincy and Emma Combs Blevins, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Caudill. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Avalee Caudill, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Reba Blevins, of Glade Valley; two grandchildren and their spouses, Rick and Lynn Caudill, of Mt. Airy and Kelly and Dale Higgins, of Rural Hall; four great grandchildren, Lisa and Amber Caudill, of Mt. Airy and Lauren and Lindsey Higgins, of Rural Hall; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 25 at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Fred E. Jennings and Rev. Everett Shaw. Interment will follow in Whitehead/Joines Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times, at the residence. YADKINVILLE -- Mrs. Doris Burchette Foster, 74, of 3304 Bowman Rd. in Yadkinville, died Friday, October 22, 1999 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Foster was born October 22, 1925 to the late O.R. and Daisy Cumming Burchette. She was a beautician and owner of Doris's Beauty Shop. She was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by one brother, Roland Burchette; and three sisters, Carolyn Cornatzer, Margarette Burchette, and Marion Burchette. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Mitchell Foster of the home; two sons, James Mitchell (Avis) Foster of Yadkinville and Kenneth Lee ''Peanut'' (Gail) Foster of Mocksville; two sisters, Helen (Ray) Presnell and Peggy (Ralph) Lane; four brothers, Joe (Sylvia) Burchette, Donald (Norma Jean) Burchette, Bill Burchette, and Roger (Jessie) Burchette; six grandchildren, Tracy Yvonne Patella, Stephanie LeeAnn Brown, K. Brett Foster, Patrick Foster, Sterling Foster, and Wendy Foster; one step-granddaughter, Caitlin Arnold; and four great-grandchildren, Weston Willard, James Matthew Foster, Payton Mitchell Foster, and Hannah Brown. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 1999 at Courtney Baptist Church with Rev. John Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday night at Gentry Family Funeral Home on US Hwy 601 N in Yadkinville.

FREEMAN
LAWSONVILLE -- Mrs. Boyce Drew Freeman died Wednesday, October 20, 1999. Mrs. Freeman was born July 15, 1952 to the late Thomas Floyd and Kathryn Conn Drew. She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Freeman; one son Keith Shawn Rose; and one brother, Thomas F. Drew of Atlanta, Ga. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 1999 at Friends of the Earth. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ''Look Over Farms Memorial for Horses'' c/o Friends of the Earth, 114 Reynolda Village, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27107.
