She was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late Richard L. and Minnie Alice Sweezy Haynes, wife of the late James Lester Hicks, four brothers and three sisters, employee of Gaston Memorial Hospital for several years as dietician and in sewing department, attended Gaston College, worked as practical nurse for 25 years, member of Unity Baptist Church, Sunday School teacher, Training Union Teacher for 20 years, member of Woman’s Missionary Union and circle member.
SURVIVORS: Sons and daughters-in-law, J.L. and Lorene Hicks, Lyman, S.C., Rev. Richard and Audrey Hicks, Gastonia; daughters, Christine Hicks, Broome, Colleen Hicks Echerd, Gastonia, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild

He was a native of Habersham, Ga., son of the late Henry Lloyd and Georgia Wooten Ramsey, husband of the late Ruby Irene Morton Ramsey, brother of the late Clarence, Lamar, R.P. and Eunice Ramsey, Rosalene Franks, World War II Army veteran, retired from Firestone Mill after 42 years of service.
