He was a native of Surry County, son of the late Jesse and Mamie McDaniel Vaughn, husband of the late Virginia Pounders Vaughn, brother of the late Arnold and Ramey Vaughn, school bus mechanic with the Cleveland County school system, member of Landmark Baptist Church, Senior Saints Sunday school class, deacon emeritus, pitcher for Minette Mills fast pitch softball state champions in 1958, Army veteran of World War II, European Theatre.
