She was a native of Gastonia, daughter of the late Charles Vance and Ida LeMaster Rose, wife of the late William Richard "Rich" Upton, mother of the late William Richard "Richie" Upton Jr., made antique lamps and lampshades, associated with her sisters at Evelyn’s Dress Shoppe, homemaker, member of First Wesleyan Church.
