He was a native of Kershaw, son of the late Jim and Carrie Vinson, member of First Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir, Army veteran, retired from J.P. Stevens & Co., served on board of directors and credit committee of Republic Federal Credit Union.

She was a daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin and Mary Ellen Carter Caviness, charter member of Sharpe Road Baptist Church, member of the Order of Eastern Star, homemaker.
