She was a native of Etowah, Tenn., daughter of the late Alfred and Roxie Harrington Jennings, wife of the late George L. Grissom, sister of the late John and Oscar Jennings, mother-in-law of the late Walter Hamilton, active member of Olney Presbyterian Church, Ladies Bible Class, Young at Hearts, Women of the Church, homemaker.

Dewitt S. Beatty Jr.
MOUNT HOLLY — Dewitt "Dick" Summerrow Beatty Jr., 70, 507 N. Hawthorne St., died Jan. 25, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.
He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Dewitt S. Sr. and Lelia Bouldin Beatty, retired real estate and insurance agent, member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Holly, formerly active in church, vice chairman of the official board, president of the men’s Bible class, active in Jaycees where he served as president, received Mount Holly Man of the Year Award in 1960, former member and president of Mount Holly Lion’s Club, served as a member of the board of trustees of Gaston Memorial Hospital in December 1981, past member of Gaston County Board of Equalization & Review, serving as chairman for six years.
